An unprecedented wave of pain and anger surged through my mind, making me forget my fear. "You lunatic! You murderer!"
I screamed hysterically, charging at the beast before me, tearing at him with reckless abandon.
In the distance, the sound of police sirens grew closer. The driver gripped my wrist tightly and roughly dragged me back into the car. His twisted face was filled with madness and cruelty as he muttered to himself, "I won't be caught by you!"
Then, he slammed his foot down on the gas pedal, and the car shot forward like a bullet, racing down the highway.
The immense inertia pressed me back into my seat. Amidst the wailing sirens, the screeching tires, and the driver's furious curses, I sat quietly like a statue, tears streaming down my face, yet not a trace of fear remained.
Images of Auntie collapsing flooded my mind; the sharp knife that had plunged into her chest felt as if it had also pierced my own heart, releasing all my fear and cowardice.
I wanted to end it all myself!
May 13th, 6:00 AM
Morning sunlight filtered through thin clouds, casting light on the dew-soaked highway.
Our car sped wildly down the road, the sharp sound of sirens hot on our heels; I could even see flashing red and blue lights in the rearview mirror.
Suddenly, a police car burst out from the side, attempting to intercept us.
The driver jerked the steering wheel hard, and the vehicle skidded across the highway in a dangerous arc, narrowly avoiding a collision with the police car.
But soon after, more police cars emerged from various intersections, quickly blocking all our escape routes and forcing us to race down a single path.
This road led to a large bridge where, about 200 meters ahead of us, I could vaguely see a police Roadblock.
A massive Isolation Barrier loomed across the bridge's surface, behind which stood a group of officers clad in Bulletproof Vests and armed with weapons.
A stern voice echoed from their loudspeakers: "Stop your vehicle immediately!"
The driver ignored them completely; he slammed down on the accelerator again, and the car roared toward the Roadblock.
A look of determination crossed his face as he shouted, "Get out of my way!"
"Stop!" I yelled, but it seemed he could hear nothing; his eyes were fixed solely on the Roadblock and those officers trying to stop him.
The police Roadblock loomed closer. I knew that if this continued, more innocent lives could be lost.
No! This madman must not harm anyone else!
I exerted all my strength and lunged toward the driver's seat, gripping the steering wheel tightly with both hands. The vehicle traced an arc on the highway as the driver tried to regain control, but my actions had already sent it veering off course.
Our hands wrestled fiercely over the steering wheel, the car swaying violently from side to side, accompanied by the deafening sound of tires screeching against the asphalt.
"What are you doing?! Let go! Are you crazy?!" The driver turned in shock, clearly not expecting me to recklessly fight for control of the wheel.
"You’re the one who’s crazy! I’d rather die with you, you lunatic! You’re a murderer! You killed those who bullied your son, and you can claim it was for revenge! But… but the cleaning lady was innocent; she just wanted to protect me! Why did you have to kill her?!" I screamed, like a wild beast driven to fury.
I pressed my body against him, trying to increase my grip on the wheel as the vehicle began to spiral out of control, shaking violently.
"Let go! I will make everyone who stands in my way pay!"
"I won’t let you hurt anyone else!" I barely managed to force those words through clenched teeth, slamming my shoulder into his arm.
The impact caused the vehicle to jerk sharply, skimming past a roadblock and careening toward the barrier on the side.
