“Jin Yu, today I officially introduce you to Yu Zhen. From now on, she will be your sister-in-law,” Jiang Zixuan smiled as he made the introduction.
It seemed he didn’t notice my composed expression at all.
“Jin Yu, sister, look, it’s our first formal meeting. Here’s a small gift for you, don’t dislike it,” Yu Zhen said graciously as she handed me a beautifully wrapped box.
Inside was the makeup I had been craving for a long time; I had only mentioned it in passing while playfully teasing Jiang Zixuan.
I shot her a cold look and retreated to my room.
The first formal meeting was far from pleasant.
Once back in my room, I couldn’t help but cry quietly. Perhaps if I hadn’t confessed my feelings that day, things wouldn’t have turned out this way.
From then on, the two of them were inseparable, showing off their affection in front of me every day.
Gradually, I buried my pain deep inside and began to pretend that I didn’t care in front of them.
I started skipping school and learned to numb myself with alcohol.
In the bar, amidst the dazzling lights and music, I swayed gently to the rhythm, allowing myself to forget everything for a moment.
Just then, my phone suddenly rang. I looked at the screen and saw it was Jiang Zixuan calling.
I answered the phone, and his voice came through: “Where are you?”
I hesitated for a moment, not wanting him to know where I was. I lied casually, “Hey, Brother Zi Xuan, I’m at the cinema watching a movie.”
“Really? When did the cinema sound like that?” Jiang Zixuan’s voice carried a hint of sarcasm.
I froze for a moment, surprised that he had seen through my lie so easily.
“Where exactly are you? Why are you lying to me?” Jiang Zixuan’s tone turned serious.
“I…” I hesitated again and finally decided to tell the truth, “I’m at a bar.”
“A bar? What are you doing there? Come home right now!” Jiang Zixuan said angrily.
“I’m not going back; I want to drink,” I retorted deliberately to provoke him further.
“You…” Jiang Zixuan interrupted me, “Stop talking nonsense and come home! Right now! Immediately! I can’t let you stay in a place like that alone.”
"Who do you think you are to control me?" I retorted defiantly.
"Just because I'm your brother!" Jiang Zixuan's voice rose a few notches.
I was taken aback for a moment, then suddenly shouted in anger, "I don't want you to be my brother! I don't want it!"
"I don't want you to control me anymore."
With that, I hung up the phone and couldn't help but burst into tears.
Then I grabbed a glass and poured myself drink after drink, hoping that this would ease my pain even just a little.
At that moment, a man with bleached hair swaggered over and tried to chat me up.
"Hey there, little sister, let me keep you company with a drink."
Through my blurry vision, I looked at the guy with the bleached hair.
"Who are you to call yourself 'brother'?"
"Ugh!"
I angrily splashed my drink in his face.
He...
For some reason, the man with the bleached hair held back his anger and stood beside me with a cold smirk.
I decided to ignore him and continued drinking.
But for some reason, I suddenly started feeling dizzy, and my body grew increasingly hot.
Unable to resist, I loosened my collar, exposing my pale collarbone.
I couldn't bear it any longer and slumped helplessly onto the table.
It was then that the man with the bleached hair finally helped me up and started leading me outside.
My mind was clear, but I just couldn't control myself.
Had I been drugged?
A chill ran down my spine; it had to be that guy with the bleached hair who had slipped something into my drink when I wasn't paying attention.
I felt a deep sense of fear in my heart, yet I was powerless to act. All I could do was let myself be supported as I stumbled toward the exit.
As we reached the entrance of the bar, a familiar figure appeared before my blurred vision. Jiang Zixuan had arrived just in time, worried that something might happen to me.
He got into a fight with Blond-haired Man, and it was then that I truly lost consciousness.
