After the recent surge of power, Shen Tong's right eye became exceptionally sharp, quickly detecting a faint breath flowing from a certain direction.
"Here! There's a fork in the path!"
It was an extremely hidden entrance, and with the situation pressing, no one could afford to hesitate. Everyone followed Shen Tong and crawled in one after another.
This was clearly another tunnel, likely visited by tomb raiders long ago.
When they finally crawled out onto the surface in a disheveled state, they found themselves facing the exact opposite direction from the previous entrance, with a continuous rumble echoing behind them.
They hurried to retreat to a safe area, and when they turned back to look, the entire ancient tomb area seemed to be pressed down by an invisible hand, the ground sinking violently and raising clouds of dust.
Upon counting, most members of the Gui Xu Society and the Foreigner tomb raiding group were forever buried within this ancient grave.
Three days later.
Lin Mingchang sat in the office of the highest-ranking officer at the Spring City Police Station, holding photos from the ancient tomb taken by Xiaoshuang.
Across from him sat Zhao Deshan, sitting upright.
This police station chief was a veteran who had fought through many years of warlord chaos and had seen countless storms.
Zhao Deshan carefully reviewed the case file submitted by Lin Mingchang, his fingers lightly tapping on the document as his expression grew increasingly serious.
"Where did this evidence regarding control techniques and Paper Man production come from?" Zhao Deshan asked, looking up.
Lin Mingchang succinctly reported on the entire process of investigating the Gui Xu Society alongside Shen Tong, Ruan Xiaoshuang, and Fang Zigui.
"The underground passage sealed off at Fu Yuan Zhai was later excavated by us," Lin Mingchang concluded. "It concealed many secret documents of the Gui Xu Society and revealed how deep their roots extend in Spring City."
Zhao Deshan remained silent for a moment before asking, "Officer Lin, what is your recommendation?"
Lin Mingchang stood at attention and said loudly, "I suggest we immediately launch a citywide carpet search for all Gui Xu Society strongholds; we cannot give them any breathing room."
Zhao Deshan nodded slowly. "Order an immediate comprehensive crackdown!"
The police action was swift; the underground network that Gui Xu Society had painstakingly built over many years was uprooted in less than a month.
The strongholds of Gui Xu Society were dismantled one by one, with long-hidden members either captured or fleeing in panic.
A month later, in Shen Tong's small courtyard, the osmanthus tree had grown dense and shady.
Recently, Lin Mingchang had been busy eliminating the Gui Xu Society, and the four of them hadn't gathered for a long time.
Sitting on a stone bench, facing his three friends, he calmly announced, "I have submitted my resignation to the Police Station."
Ruan Xiaoshuang's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at him. "What? Brother Lin, you... you're not going to be a police officer anymore? I thought after solving such a big case, you would get promoted!"
"They were indeed going to promote me, but..." Lin Mingchang took out a letter from his pocket and placed it on the stone table. "I have more important things to do now. This is a secret letter I recently intercepted from the Gui Xu Society. Take a look."
As soon as they heard about the Gui Xu Society, the three of them tensed up and leaned in to read the letter together.
The secret message clearly stated: "Withdraw to Yunnan, Guixu Sacred Land," and briefly mentioned that Yunnan was related to the origin of the Rakshasa Bird.
Fang Zigui picked up his teacup and took a gentle sip. "So, you want to go to Yunnan to track down the Gui Xu Society?"
