Jiang Haotian stared at me, momentarily taken aback, then his expression shifted drastically. "Jiang Xiaoman! So it’s you!"
A disciple of the Jiang family tugged at his sleeve. "Master, a wise man doesn’t suffer immediate losses. We should retreat quickly; otherwise..."
"Get lost!" Jiang Haotian had completely lost his sanity at this point. He struck out with a palm, sending the disciple who tried to persuade him flying several yards away!
The scene fell into a deathly silence. The members of the Jiang family were all rendered speechless, too afraid to speak further.
Jiang Haotian ignored everyone else, his blood-red eyes fixed solely on me. He raised a hand and charged at me, his spiritual energy swirling around him, whipping up a fierce wind that lifted dust from the ground into the air.
I knew I couldn’t dodge and didn’t want to! I channeled the two forces within me, instantly infusing my blade with spiritual energy and charged forward to meet Jiang Haotian's assault!
In an instant, the Copper Scraper collided with his golden palm strike, scattering spiritual energy everywhere and sending waves of force that blew dust and debris into the air!
Seeing us engaged in battle, the Qilin Clan Leader roared, his body glowing with golden light as a massive Qilin phantom appeared behind him. The demonic energy sent a dozen or so Jiang Family Descendants flying.
In that moment, the morale of the demon clan surged!
"Kill them!" The demon warriors launched an all-out assault against the Jiang family members.
Su Yan was also busy; she leaped into the air, standing high above. Her nine tails released beams of silver light as she directed those without combat power to retreat to safety at the edge of the square while repelling any Jiang Family Members attempting sneak attacks.
I couldn’t afford to be distracted. The Jiang Haotian before me had completely lost his mind. He summoned a golden longsword with a wave of his hand and relentlessly swung it at me.
"Jiang Xiaoman, you useless waste! How dare you scheme against me!"
Jiang Haotian's figure flickered as he swung the longsword fiercely. A deafening roar erupted as the tremendous impact shattered the tiles beneath my feet.
A sharp pain shot through my chest, and I turned to spit out a mouthful of blood.
Jiang Haotian cackled maniacally. "Today, I will rid the Jiang family of you, this worthless piece of trash!"
With that, he swung his sword at me again. I gathered my strength and swung my blade, using the rising dust as cover to slash toward Jiang Haotian's vital points!
It seemed he had already anticipated my move. He leaped into the air, redirecting his sword's edge so that my Copper Scraper was deflected off course, only grazing his shoulder!
At the same time, he gathered power in his left hand and struck down toward my back!
I was unsteady on my feet and was just about to use spiritual energy to form armor when I took that hit directly.
Suddenly, a flash of silver light zipped past from Jiang Haotian's side!
“Xiaoman! Be careful!”
A fox tail swept through the air, unexpectedly taking the blow for me!
It was Su Yan!
I turned to look, and there I saw a cruel smirk at the corner of Jiang Haotian's mouth.
In the next moment, his figure flickered, and the Golden Light Longsword in his hand suddenly flew out!
Transforming into a streak of light, it shot straight towards Su Yan!
Before Su Yan could react, that golden light was already closing in.
“Su Yan!”
I instinctively shouted and rushed forward.
In a flash, I positioned myself behind Su Yan, and the golden light pierced directly into my chest!
I widened my eyes, pressed my hand against my chest, and fell face down to the ground...
“Xiaoman!”
Su Yan lunged over, kneeling beside me, her trembling fingers gently brushing across my face...
“Xiaoman? Xiaoman...” She repeated my name over and over again.
Her tears, warm tears, dripped onto my face one by one.
But I kept my eyes tightly shut, offering no response.
