Lin Mingchang did not stop there. Amidst the astonished gazes of the crowd, he turned to Shen Tong and walked over, gently taking her hand. He leaned in closer, speaking in a voice only Shen Tong could hear, "Shen Tong, I have said this once before, and today I want to say it again. I am grateful to have met you. To me, you have never been a destined lonely monster; you are simply you, the person I cherish most. Will you accept me?"
Shen Tong felt a rush of emotion, her eyes stinging with tears. For years, she had believed she was different from others, destined to be alone, building walls around her heart for protection. However, during this time, Cheng Siyun's presence had forced her to confront her feelings for Lin Mingchang. The thought of possibly losing him filled her with a sense of unease and pain that far surpassed facing any sinister specter.
What destined loneliness... let it all go to hell! She no longer wanted to betray her own heart! Like last time, Shen Tong grasped Lin Mingchang's hand in return, but this time she did not remain silent. Instead, she looked up into his eyes, her own brimming with tears as she softly said, "I am willing because you are also the person I cherish most."
The two exchanged smiles and embraced tightly, the surrounding noise gradually fading away. Standing nearby, Zigui discreetly wrapped an arm around Xiaoshuang, both sharing a knowing smile. Xiaoshuang nudged Zigui playfully with her elbow and said with a grin, "We finally waited for this day."
By the afternoon, the week-long Xiang Embroidery centennial exhibition had come to a successful close. The staff were busy packing up the precious exhibits, leaving only a few personnel behind to handle the aftermath in the exhibition hall.
Cheng Jinsheng stood at the entrance, bidding farewell to the last few guests. Once the final guest departed, he took out his pocket watch to check the time and was about to instruct the staff to close the venue when he noticed that Lin Mingchang, Shen Tong, Ruan Xiaoshuang, and Fang Zigui had not left; instead, they were quietly standing in the center of the foyer watching him.
Cheng Jinsheng approached them with a puzzled expression. "You all haven't left? The exhibition has ended; do you need me to arrange transportation for you..."
"Old Cheng!" Before he could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by a familiar voice calling from behind him.
He turned abruptly to see Officer Yang from the Police Station striding in with four police officers in tow. Cheng Jinsheng's expression changed dramatically. "Old Yang? What brings you here?"
Officer Yang sighed. "Cheng Jinsheng, you are under arrest for the illegal detention of Zhao Yunlan, Zhou Yafen, and Gu Mingzhu—three Xiang Embroidery Masters."
"What... what is going on? Old Yang, I didn't..." Cheng Jinsheng's face turned pale as he instinctively took a step back in panic, trying to defend himself.
"Old Cheng..." Officer Yang raised a hand to stop him and said with deep sorrow in his eyes, "The boss of Jinxiu Workshop has already been arrested by me; he confessed everything. To be honest, when Mr. Lin and his group came to see me yesterday and shared their deductions, I could hardly believe it at all. You and I grew up together; Siyun is like family to me. I know she has had heart issues since childhood, but I never imagined you would resort to something like kidnapping!"
When Cheng Jinsheng heard that the boss of Jinxiu Workshop had been caught and confessed everything, he felt as if struck by lightning. His face turned ashen; his body swayed slightly as he had to lean against a nearby display stand just to remain upright.
Two police officers stepped forward and pulled out handcuffs from their waists.
