In just two days, it would be Ke Jingchen's birthday. In previous years, I would have already prepared a gift by this time. But this time, I really couldn't muster any enthusiasm and randomly picked out a silver watch for him. 0

The night before his birthday, I had just come out of the hospital when I spotted Ke Jingchen's black Rolls Royce. It seemed he had been waiting for a while. He stood with his arms crossed, casually leaning against the passenger door. 0

When he saw me come out, he quickly walked over and took my hand. "What are you doing here?" I asked. 0

"I'm meeting up with a few close classmates tonight. I came to pick you up," he replied. 0

I opened the passenger door and was about to get in when I noticed Jiang Wan sitting there. I turned my head, looking at Ke Jingchen in disbelief. 0

Jiang Wan spoke first, "I happen to be going to the same class reunion, so A Chen brought me along." 0

"Miss Jiang, the back seat is more spacious; it would be more comfortable for you," I suggested. 0

She tossed her hair back, showing no intention of moving. "I get car sick; I can't sit in the back. Sorry to trouble you, Doctor Jiang." 0

"So, you have nothing to say?" I turned back to Ke Jingchen again. 0

"Wan Wan, Xiao Wan has always had bad motion sickness since she was little; you should be more understanding," he said, not only ignoring my feelings but also urging me to be magnanimous. 0

I let out a bitter laugh. "Do you know what it means for a married man to sit in the passenger seat?" 0

"I told you, I'm just childhood friends with her. Do you really need to make such a fuss over a passenger seat?" He spoke in that familiar tone of reproach. 0

"Exactly, Doctor Jiang, do you really have to make A Chen feel so awkward?" Jiang Wan seized the opportunity to add fuel to the fire. 0

Perhaps it was her words that made Ke Jingchen feel embarrassed. He directly opened the back door and said to me, "Get in; it's getting late, and my friends are waiting." Almost simultaneously, Jiang Wan closed the passenger door from inside. 0

With a loud thud, it felt as if something heavy had crashed into my heart. 0

Thinking of the child in my womb, I struggled to suppress my emotions and took a seat in the back row. 0

They had chosen a bar for their gathering. As soon as I entered, Ke Jingchen tossed me aside and walked straight toward his group of friends. Jiang Wan followed closely behind and took a seat next to him. 0

For a brief moment, I actually thought they looked quite compatible together. I was the thief who had stolen their happiness. 0

I found a corner table and sat down. 0

"Back then, Ke Jingchen was so humble in trying to win her back, but Jiang Wan remained unmoved. Who would have thought it would end up like this, with them getting married?" 0

"Exactly! When he announced at the press conference that Jiang Wan was his fiancée, I was completely stunned." 0

"But to be fair, Ke Jingchen has really become more suited to Jiang Wan's taste. He looks sharp in his suit and gold-rimmed glasses, and he seems much gentler now." 0

The chatter from the girls at the table behind me surged like a tide. My head felt like it was going to explode, and my stomach twisted painfully as if I were suffocating. My phone slipped from my hand and hit the floor with a heavy thud. 0

One of the girls heard the noise and got up to help me pick it up. "Hey, you don't seem to be from our class." 0

"I'm Jiang Wan, Ke Jingchen's wife." 0

The girl froze in place, while the others exchanged awkward glances, the lively atmosphere suddenly coming to an abrupt halt. 0

I looked over at Ke Jingchen not far away; he was thoughtfully blocking drinks being offered to Jiang Wan by others. Jiang Wan sat close to him, laughing brightly. 0

I instinctively touched my still-flat belly with one hand while gripping the other tightly, my nails nearly digging into my skin. For the sake of the child, I had to endure a little longer. 0

After taking a deep breath to calm myself, I walked toward them. 0

As I approached, I heard Jiang Wan teasingly say to Ke Jingchen, "A Chen, you need to keep them in check; they’re just trying to have fun at my expense." 0

Ke Jingchen's voice was filled with affection as he replied, "Don't bully Xiao Wan." 0

"Jingchen, you've had too much to drink. Let's go home," I said as I stepped forward, trying to help him up. 0

But someone shoved me aside, saying, "Who do you think you are? Just any random person thinks they can get close to Brother Chen." 0

"Do you really think that by sticking out a couple of feathers, you can fly up and become a phoenix?" 0

Ke Jingchen stood up and pulled me close to him. "Don't touch her." 0

"Wait, Brother Chen, why are you protecting her? I've seen plenty of women like her; she’s just trying to take advantage of the situation," the man continued, pointing a finger at me. 0

Ke Jingchen's voice turned stern. "You better show some respect; this is my wife." 0

The man seemed frozen in place, and the others fell silent, their eyes darting between Ke Jingchen and Jiang Wan. 0

Jiang Wan appeared unfazed as she stood up and responded graciously, "I told you all not to stir things up; you might have made Doctor Jiang misunderstand." 0

I looked at the coat she was holding and reached out. "Miss Jiang, please give me Jingchen's jacket." 0

She hugged it tighter. " Doctor Jiang, since we're going back together anyway, I'll take care of the jacket." 0

"It's just a piece of clothing; if Miss Jiang likes it, consider it a gift." 0

"I'm not your chauffeur and I have no obligation to drive you home." 0

Amidst the astonished gazes of the crowd, I supported Ke Jingchen and left the bar. 0
