Hearing this, a sharp pain flashed through Su Peijiu's Water Eyes. Soon, she lowered her eyelids and laughed maniacally, her body swaying unsteadily as she exclaimed, "This is simply the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard as the Master of the Building!"
Gradually calming her laughter, she wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes, then placed her hand on the shoulder of her maid, pushing her away. Her gaze was piercing as she looked at the White-Clad Youth, stepping forward and leaving all the Shadow Guards behind.
"Do you really want to kill me again?" Her voice was clear, seemingly piercing deep into one's heart.
Qi Mo looked at the woman, suddenly feeling a bit flustered. He tightened his grip around Mink's arm, causing Mink to call out and pull his thoughts back...
With a smirk, he replied, "It sounds like you know me, madam. But I'm sorry... while this pregnant woman has her own charm, I'm not into that."
The woman's delicate palm immediately clenched tightly, anger intensifying the smile in her eyes. When did she start learning to disguise herself with layers of smiles?
The deeper the hatred, the brighter the smile... Qin Ge, you are just a pitiful person, yet you refuse to admit it.
"What a pity; I just happen to like your type," she said with a smile that curved her brows. The slight blush on her porcelain face only accentuated her stunning beauty. "I particularly like those men who exude a hint of femininity."
Casually resting her hand on one of the Shadow Guards' shoulders, she leaned into him, Water Eyes sparkling with light. "Today's incident is your woman's fault. If you know what's good for you, let's part ways. If not, we are not to be trifled with; we can settle both old and new scores together!"
With that statement made, it was up to Qi Mo how to conclude this.
Qi Mo paused slightly at her hand resting on the Shadow Guard's shoulder. The smile at the corner of his lips unknowingly faded a bit as he narrowed his dark eyes, his long peach blossom eyes carrying an air of untraceable depth. "How do you intend to settle this?" Between them, he wasn't sure what could still be settled... hadn't they already been entangled in conflict?
Su Peijiu raised her fingertip and tapped it on Qin Ran's head while leaning even closer to the Shadow Guard.
The Shadow Guard was puzzled by why his Master of the Building was suddenly so close to him. He felt the warmth of the person in his arms slowly dissipating. Yan Bai stood nearby with a furrowed brow, then his gaze fell on Su Peijiu's lips, deepening his frown.
"Your woman hurt my people and caused trouble on my territory. How do you think we should settle this?" Before he finished speaking, Qin Ge's resentful gaze swept over.
It was so similar! It was just too similar!
Before him stood Qin Ge, who seemed like a reflection of his former self from years ago. The brows and eyes were familiar; although there was more resentment and gloom now, aside from that, it was unmistakably Eldest Princess Qin Ge!
What does Qi Mo really keep Qin Ran around for? Is it guilt over Qin Ge?
How ridiculous... A hint of sarcasm flashed in her eyes as she leaned against the Shadow Guard, her lips slightly bluish, yet she smiled without a care.
"Why is it that your person blocked my way? And when did this Auspicious Cloud Pavilion become yours?" Qin Ran shouted.
A flicker of displeasure crossed Qi Mo's eyes, but she remained silent, holding onto Mink, lost in thought.
Qin Ran assumed Qi Mo's silence was acquiescence to her behavior and grew bolder. The woman before her was nothing but a seductive figure, daring to flirt with her Shadow Guard in broad daylight; she must not be a good person, and Qin Ran felt a sense of disdain.
"As a woman, you should have some sense of shame. Walking around with a big belly and being ambiguous with others—if you don't care about your own dignity, at least leave some face for your unborn child." Qin Ran became increasingly smug, noticing a fleeting shadow in the woman's expression that excited her even more. "But perhaps your child is just an illegitimate one born out of who knows where... like mother, like child..."
Su Peijiu wore a cold smile, her lips curling deeper. Upon hearing "illegitimate," a glint of killing intent flashed in her Water Eyes. With a slight flick of her finger, a Shadow Guard instantly drew his sword and swept it across; before Qin Ran could react, a strand of her hair fell to the ground.
She turned pale with fright, pointing at Su Peijiu and stammering "You you you..." but couldn't form a complete sentence.
"Is that all?" Su Peijiu bit her lip, her Water Eyes half-squinted, leaning entirely against the support of the Shadow Guard. "Yan Bai, go get the land deed for Auspicious Cloud Pavilion and let this Qin Ran sister take a good look at where she's causing trouble!"
Yan Bai quickly threw the deed in front of Qin Ran. Su Peijiu continued, "What does it matter to you that I'm out here with my big belly? And how does my ambiguous relationship with anyone concern you? We're not related; why are you meddling? Do you want to share in my fortune too? Qin Ran sister... since you have your own bowl, don’t stare at someone else's pot. As the Master of the Building, my only pleasure is to admire beautiful women; I have plenty of money to spare—what business is it of yours?"
"As for whether my child is illegitimate—" she paused, fixing her fierce gaze on Qin Ran's face. "When it is born, I will naturally raise it well and provide for it abundantly. The status of being legitimate is completely different; there's no need to worry about that. It's far better than those hidden away in darkness."
She hadn't intended to say this, but Qin Ran truly provoked her. If it weren't for Qi Mo being present, they wouldn't stand a chance against her; fearing chaos might harm her child, she would have long sent Qin Ran to meet the Emperor!

She remembered playing with Qi Mo back then; there was always a child who resembled her lurking nearby, gazing longingly at Qi Mo with enchanting eyes yet never approaching. She had never liked children like Qin Ran who were adept at palace schemes.
Unexpectedly, as they grew up, she found herself able to stay by Qi Mo's side as she had always wished.
"You shameless woman!" Qin Ran hated two things most in her life: one was her birth, and the other was that her appearance resembled Eldest Princess Qin Ge.
At first glance, Su Peijiu seemed extremely similar to that person. Upon hearing about her own birth, she thought that even if she wasn't Qin Ge, she must be someone Qin Ran had despised greatly back in the day! Furious, she rushed forward to tear Su Peijiu's mouth apart, fearing that she might say something else that would make Qi Mo look down on her.
"Enough." Qi Mo's calm voice made Qin Ran abruptly stop her movements. She blinked her eyes in grievance and said, "This woman is humiliating me!"
"So what?" Qi Mo didn't take his eyes off Mink, looking at the animal with pure black eyes, his tone absent-minded.
Qin Ran knew that Qi Mo was in a bad mood at the moment, so she held back her tears and obediently walked to his side. "I've made enough of a scene; let's go home."
Qi Mo didn't even glance at her and turned to leave. Qin Ran shot a fierce glare at Su Peijiu. "I'll settle the score with you later!" She hurriedly chased after him, sweetly calling out, "Wait for me, Husband."
That harsh call of "Husband" felt like the last straw that completely broke Su Peijiu. She felt the world spinning for a moment before everything went dark, and all she could hear were increasingly urgent shouts, but she couldn't make sense of them...
Darkness... everywhere was utter darkness...
She trembled as she reached out to touch the outside but felt nothing. Panic rose within her as she squatted down on the ground. After an unknown amount of time, she heard a tender voice say, "Mother..."
"Mother..." The voice was very young and sweet-sounding. She felt warmth in her heart and struggled to open her eyes to see her surroundings. A bright light floated toward her, and within that light stood a chubby little child with fair skin, covering their mouth and looking at her with big black eyes while smiling.
"Mother..."
Su Peijiu couldn't help but reach out to hug him, but the child slipped away like an eel. Tilting his head innocently, he looked at her and asked, "Mother, do I not have a father?"
Su Peijiu's heart ached. She quickly replied, "You have a mother! Isn't having a mother enough?"
"Mother is great, but I heard from my friends that children without fathers are unhappy. A family without a father is also incomplete." The child's tone was very youthful, yet his words were articulated clearly, completely unlike those of an ordinary child.
Su Peijiu's smile became somewhat unnatural. "Who told you this?" She would never let Qi Mo know that this child was his; if he found out, she feared she would never get to see this child again in her lifetime.
So absolutely not! Absolutely not letting Qi Mo know!
"The child just thinks too much; you have a father."
"Who is my father?"
"Your father is quite impressive! He is the leader of the Demon Sect and has high martial arts skills. After you are born, you can learn martial arts from him to protect your mother." She thought to herself that since Ji Yu is the child's Godfather, that counts as a father too.
The child suddenly became happy, spinning around Su Peijiu. After three spins, he stopped, looking a bit unhappy.
Su Peijiu became anxious: "What's wrong, baby?"
"Mother, someone is calling you." The child bit his finger and prodded above: "Although I really don't want you to leave, I know it's not good. Mother, please go out quickly." After saying this, the child floated away.
Su Peijiu hurriedly got up from the ground, opened her arms to grab him, but suddenly caught something warm. When she opened her eyes, she saw Ji Yu with a face full of stubble and worried phoenix eyes.
Seeing Su Peijiu awake, he quickly pulled her into his embrace: "You scared me to death, really scared me to death. Fortunately, you're okay; otherwise, what would I do?"
If something happened to Su Peijiu, he truly wouldn't know what to do.
