"Your Highness, no matter how many conditions there are, we will agree!"
"You two, father and son, after taking this Jade Dew Pill, will belong to me, Prince Ping'an. In the future, there will definitely be a place for both of you in the court..." The Jade Dew Pill is certainly not as beautiful as its name suggests; it is an addictive elixir that Hua Qian researched and later brought to me.
When Lord Zhang heard that Su Peijiu would not hold him accountable and was willing to support them in the future, he crawled over and squeezed the Jade Dew Pill in his hand, stuffing one into Zhang Cheng's mouth before swallowing it himself. Zhang Cheng looked at the pill hesitantly, but after Lord Zhang glared at him, he had no choice but to swallow it.
"Good!" Su Peijiu stood up and clapped her hands. "From now on, remember to come to my residence for the elixir on the fifteenth and sixteenth of each month. If you miss the time, you might bleed from all seven orifices and die."
"Chou San, take them away." She did not look at the Zhang family father and son who were collapsed on the ground but pushed open the door and walked out. Stretching her waist and yawning widely, she noticed that the moon was already in the east and sighed, "You know how to deal with these two, right?"
"I understand." Chou San replied as he grabbed one and flew out. When Su Peijiu reached the main gate, Black Crow was already sitting in the carriage waiting for her. "Did you have fun, my lord?"
"Do I look like I'm having fun?" Su Peijiu pointed at her eyelids, which were clearly swollen, feeling dizzy. "Let's go home."
After finally washing up and climbing onto the bed, she barely closed her eyes when the rooster crowed...
Su Peijiu covered her face with her hands and rubbed it vigorously before wrapping herself in the quilt. Hearing someone push the door open, she shouted, "No Morning Court today! No Morning Court!"
The person outside leaned against the doorframe with crossed arms and looked in before chuckling lightly. "I know Prince Ping'an isn't attending Morning Court today, but at least I have come. What reason does Your Highness have for not welcoming me while lying in bed?"
Su Peijiu's eyes shot open as she sat up abruptly, wrapping herself tightly in the quilt. "Resolute Stone, are you out of your mind?! Don't you know there's a difference between men and women? It's one thing to come to the prince's residence early in the morning; it's another to intrude into a woman's chamber!"
The visitor wore a thin wooden mask with shallow scratches on it; beneath it were slightly curved red lips. "Is this how Prince Ping'an treats guests? Your Majesty, I think we should return to the palace..."
What? Jun Ye Su is here too?
Su Peijiu pulled her head out from under the quilt to look outside. Because there was a curtain in between, she couldn't see clearly but knew that a figure standing at the door was indeed Resolute Stone; it seemed Jun Ye Su was standing outside as well.
She really couldn't believe how poor the quality of a chancellor could be—breaking into a woman's chamber without knocking and standing boldly at the door. It was truly disgraceful!
"Please, Chancellor and Your Majesty, step aside for a moment and allow me some time to freshen up," Su Peijiu sighed deeply in his heart. It seemed he was destined not to sleep, and he could only get up to accompany these two who were wandering around early in the morning.
Resolute Stone shrugged and stepped out without denying it. Not long after, a maid entered. Su Peijiu collapsed onto the couch, his panda-like eyes startling the maid.
"Is the prince unwell? Why does he look so pale?"
Su Peijiu forced a smile and rubbed his temples, sitting up to let the maid assist him in dressing. "I just didn't rest well."
"Shall I send those two young masters away until tomorrow? Seeing you like this truly makes one feel sorry," the maid said. She had been rescued by Su Peijiu from bandits, so she naturally treated him like family.
"Tao Hua, you are kind, but it's fine," Su Peijiu replied as he sat in front of the mirror, picking up two black hairpins. "Today I'll simply style my hair into a bun with these and then bring over that lotus-colored outfit the tailor sent last time."
"Shouldn't you apply some rouge on your face today to add some color?" Tao Hua asked curiously.
Su Peijiu shook his head. "I want others to see how Prince Ping'an truly works hard for the country."
"I understand," Tao Hua said. After helping Su Peijiu style his hair, she went to the wardrobe to fetch a dress. While Su Peijiu was washing up, she brought back the dress for him to change into. In no more than a tea's worth of time, he floated out like a ghost.
After asking a steward, he learned that the two had wandered to the lakeside pavilion in the garden, so he could only walk there with heavy steps.
From afar, he saw Resolute Stone still dressed in a white robe with silver embroidery, accented by a touch of green at his waist. Jun Ye Su wore a dark dragon-patterned black robe that made him appear even paler.
As Su Peijiu stood at the pavilion, he heard Resolute Stone's cold voice drift over: "It seems Prince Ping'an's complexion is not good."
Jun Ye Su turned upon hearing this and indeed saw Su Peijiu's pale face, dark circles under his eyes, and lips devoid of color.
“Prince Ping'an, what is going on? Did you not rest well yesterday?”
Su Peijiu lifted her robe and sat beside Jun Ye Su, forcing a smile: “This matter of the boudoir is something His Majesty should not pry into.”
Jun Ye Su coughed lightly after hearing this, while Resolute Stone cast a lingering glance at Su Peijiu.
Indeed, he had never seen such a shameless woman.
“Why has His Majesty come to my residence when you have not even stepped out of the main gate or the inner courtyard?” She reached for an apple, wiped it on her long skirt, and brought it to her lips, just about to take a bite when she was stopped by Jun Ye Su.
“Since I have not had breakfast yet, why not join me? Eating fruit on an empty stomach is not good after all.”
Su Peijiu silently put the apple back and instructed a servant to prepare breakfast.
“Your Majesty, what exactly do you want from This King? Why choose this moment?”
Jun Ye Su looked at the indifferent Resolute Stone and said: “Let Chancellor explain to Prince Ping'an.”
Resolute Stone slowly turned around: “The Rebels Emissary has requested a marriage alliance, specifically naming Prince Ping'an to be in charge of this matter. Furthermore, for the next month, the Rebels Emissary will be residing at the Peaceful Prince's Residence…”
Su Peijiu: “……” Does that mean she will have to meet those two crazy brothers, Qi Mo and Qi Che?
“...Is there any room for negotiation on this matter?” She swallowed hard and looked at Jun Ye Su.
Jun Ye Su moved his lips to speak, but Resolute Stone interrupted: “As a prince of the Crimson Kingdom, it is only right for Prince Ping'an to do something for the kingdom. If you spend all day doing nothing, the country will not support idlers.”
Su Peijiu was furious after hearing this. She slammed her palm on the stone table, regardless of whether Jun Ye Su was present or not, stood up, and pointed at Resolute Stone, cursing, "Idle person? Which of your eyes saw This King as an idle person? At least This King still attends court; what about you, Chancellor? You’re like a dragon that shows its head but not its tail, hiding so well! The salary the state gives you as Chancellor is funded by the taxes I pay to Nan Xie Tower! If it weren't for This King, you'd be left to drink the northwest wind..."
Seeing Su Peijiu reach out to grab Resolute Stone's mask, Jun Ye Su quickly intervened and calmed her down, saying, "Pei Jiu, please calm down." He then turned to Resolute Stone and added, "Chancellor, where is your demeanor as a high-ranking official? Where is your dignity as a man? Why can't you be a little more accommodating?"
The obvious favoritism and excessive familiarity easily led one to think of other places. The wooden mask glanced over and then bowed slightly, saying, "It was my fault; please do not take offense, Prince Ping'an."
Su Peijiu coldly snorted, "Is it This King who lacks discretion? I hope Chancellor can be more forgiving." That fox Jun Ye Su was always using her!
Now Resolute Stone must have completely thought of her as that kind of frivolous woman who couldn't live without a man...
After breakfast was served, Su Peijiu poked at the bowl with her spoon, glanced at Jun Ye Su's face, and just uttered a syllable when she heard him say, "Do not speak while eating; do not talk while resting."
Su Peijiu: "..."
Since it was like this, she picked up the spoon and quickly finished the bowl of congee. With steam rising from her mouth, she tearfully asked, "Why must you stay in This King's residence? Doesn't the Emissary have an Emissary's residence?"
"This is a request made by the Emissary. Moreover, there are many ministerial residences around Peaceful Prince's Residence that are suitable for finding appropriate women for marriage," Jun Ye Su replied as he set down his spoon but did not pick it up again.
Resolute Stone had been sitting there in a meditative state from the beginning and hadn't touched any food on the table.
Su Peijiu pointed at the wooden-faced man next to her and said, "If it's about finding someone suitable, isn't the National Master's residence even more appropriate? Who doesn't know that there are many official daughters surrounding National Master's residence? That's a benefit that Peaceful Prince's Residence does not have."
Jun Ye Su's gaze was indifferent as he replied, "I am merely here to inform you."
Su Peijiu understood what this meant: I am just here to let you know; I came personally. Until I issue an order to compel you otherwise, you might as well happily accept this task.
Thinking that she would have to see the Qi Family brothers within a month and navigate this royal residence... she felt a shiver run through her.
“This King accepts the decree.” A cold, light laugh reached her ears. She glared over, only to see a wooden mask.
She: ...
One day, she would make Resolute Stone, this self-righteous man, understand what it means to be difficult to raise for both men and women!
After finally sending away two troublesome guests, she squinted her eyes and walked towards the inner chamber, lying down without even taking off her clothes, landing right on a warm body, causing Water Eyes to instantly fill with tears.
“... This enthusiasm? Really...” It was too much for her husband to handle. Before Qi Mo could finish speaking, a hand pressed against his mouth, and he was pushed aside.
She heard him grunt, “No talking, let me sleep for a while.” Qi Mo's eyes widened slightly and then softened; not driving him away was already a good thing.
With a large hand wrapping around her, he carefully examined the face of the person in his arms, delicate and exquisite as if crafted by God, different from the stubborn face in his memory.
Even though they were different, the soul within this body was the same.
In this slumber, Su Peijiu did not wake until the moon hung high above the willow treetops. As she lazily stretched while still half-asleep, she realized she was restrained. Her gaze drifted upward to see a smooth chest... moving up... to the seemingly smiling face of Demon.
