Jack and Shi Guang had known each other for a long time.
Due to Shi Guang's investigation into Mei Xu Company, he had also become a target for elimination by the company. To protect Shi Guang, Jack had to stage a fake accident in which Shi Guang was presumed dead.
After the explosion, Shi Guang believed Jack was dead, so he contacted Guan Qing and asked her to continue the investigation into the criminal activities within Mei Xu Company.

Thus, Jack had no choice but to have Shi Guang abduct Guan Qing to a hunter's cabin on Mountain Slope, where he explained the entire situation to her.
The woman who died on the mountaintop was Wei Namian.
She was a senior technician at Mei Xu Company and had secretly provided information to Shi Guang.
After being discovered by Lin Sheng, she met a tragic fate.
Shi Guang deduced that Mei Xu Company had implanted suicidal memory signals in Wei Namian's brain, compelling her to willingly exit the helicopter, walk into the snow, and then commit suicide by cutting her wrists.
At that moment, a judge on television was questioning Lin Sheng about Wei Namian's cause of death. Lin Sheng, with his triangular face and cunning smile, said, "I didn't kill her; we just made her make a choice."
"What choice?" the judge pressed.
But Lin Sheng refused to elaborate on what that choice was.
He said, "Whether I speak or remain silent, it's still a death sentence. I would rather leave a riddle for you to guess. Hahaha."
Jack disgustedly lowered the volume of the television and turned to Shi Guang, puzzled. "There's a detail about Wei Namian's death that I haven't figured out. Under her right hand, there are four numbers written in blood: 0303. What does that mean?"
Upon hearing this, Shi Guang's eyes filled with tears.
He choked up and said, "During my time with Wei Namian, we fell in love. We decided that once the truth was revealed, we would choose March 3rd to get married. March 3rd is the day we met."
The three suddenly realized something and fell silent.
They all understood what Lin Sheng meant by "choice." He had forced Wei Namian to choose between memory and life: she could erase her memories and survive, or be sent to the mountaintop to commit suicide, leaving her memories behind.
Wei Namian chose the latter.
The interrogation was over.
Jack turned off the television and turned to see Guan Qing staring blankly at the screen.
Seeing Guan Qing like this made Jack feel a pang of sadness. He asked, "Do you remember anything?"
Guan Qing shook her head. She couldn't remember anything at all.
In the little cabin, she only felt that this man before her was someone worth trusting.
It was merely a lingering intuition. Later, when Guan Qing returned home and stumbled upon that diary, she read through it page by page, staying up all night, and then realized just how important this man named Jack was to her.
However, all those beautiful memories of love had been taken away, as if someone had thrown a bomb inside her body, obliterating all her memories of him.
If it weren't for this diary, she would never have known the existence of such emotions.
If Lin Sheng had given her the choice back then, she would have unhesitatingly chosen to retain her memories and give up her life.
Unfortunately, Lin Sheng did not offer her that choice.
This was more cruel than killing her.
"Guan Qing, their technology is still not mature. Perhaps in the future, your memories will gradually return," Jack comforted her.
Guan Qing forced a smile. But would there really be such a future?
Jack patted her shoulder and said, "Anyway, I’m retired now and have time. I can slowly share our experiences solving cases together. I will help you regain those memories."
Guan Qing looked at him and smiled again.
This time, the smile did not fade immediately; instead, it lingered on her lips for a long while. When Jack gently patted her shoulder, she felt a vague image flash in her mind, like static on a television screen.
