Taking the elevator, we quickly reached the top floor, which had the usual office layout. Amidst the curious gazes of several employees, Luo Xinyu led us to a solid wooden door, took out a key, and unlocked it. 0

Inside was a luxurious office. However, since it was meant for decision-makers, there weren't many complicated office devices; instead, all household appliances like air conditioning were fully equipped. On the desk sat only an Apple computer and a phone, simple yet resembling a piece of art. 0

The only window was behind the desk chair, allowing ample natural light to flood in. Luo Xinyu walked over to the desk and pointed at the space between the computer and the phone, saying, “The proposal was right here yesterday.” 0

I approached the desk, but of course, there was no trace of the proposal left. A gentle breeze from the air conditioner brushed against my hair, and I couldn't help but marvel at how much better this environment was compared to our magazine office. 0

Yang Fan observed the layout of the desk and asked, “Has anything changed in your office since the proposal went missing?” 0

Without hesitation, Luo Xinyu replied, “For some reason, both my air conditioner and computer broke down that day. There were many important files on the computer; perhaps because it was password-protected, they couldn’t just copy it over. Instead, they destroyed the drives and hard disk using some method to prevent us from drafting a new proposal before the bidding— and that indeed happened.” 0

“What about the air conditioner?” I inquired. 0

“They replaced it,” Luo Xinyu casually remarked. I turned to look at the new air conditioner nearby; it was powerful and clearly quite expensive. 0

“Who is your rival company?” Yang Fan seemed to have not noticed any significant clues and turned to ask Luo Xinyu. 0

Luo Xinyu gestured downward and said, “Xinlan Real Estate, located on the ground floor of this building.” He sat down in a leather chair behind his desk and continued, “Xinlan is our Lo Family's biggest competitor in the real estate industry. Losing this bid is more about losing face for us. So I hope you can find evidence that they stole our proposal so that we can sue them and overturn this situation.” 0

Yang Fan nodded and said, “The priority now is to figure out how they stole the proposal. You should have surveillance footage from that night, right?” 0

“Yes, I’ve watched it many times already but didn’t find anything unusual,” Luo Xinyu said as he opened the computer on his desk; the bitten Apple logo emitted a warm yellow glow. 0

I approached Yang Fan, and Luo Xinyu opened a video file. The image was clear and divided into three sections, all showing a staircase. 0

"This is the three segments of stairs that must be passed to reach the top floor. I was the last to leave that night, so it couldn't have been any of my employees," Luo Xinyu explained, fast-forwarding the video to thirty-two times its normal speed. 0

"What about the elevator footage?" I couldn't help but ask, as we had just taken the elevator up. 0

"The elevator was shut down at ten o'clock that night, stopping at the ground floor." 0

The footage on the computer remained almost unchanged, with only the subtitles below indicating that time was still passing. Just as I began to lose interest, Luo Xinyu appeared on screen, moving up the stairs like a rocket. 0

"You started work this early?" I turned to look at the unusually calm Luo Xinyu beside me. 0

Luo Xinyu replied briefly, "I just took office; I need to lead by example." There was a hint of determination in his eyes. 0

The video provided no useful information other than confirming that no one had gone upstairs via the staircase that night. After watching the footage, Yang Fan frowned slightly. 0

"Any findings?" Luo Xinyu asked Yang Fan, his gaze filled with anticipation. 0

Yang Fan shook his head and said, "Send me the detailed information on Xinlan Company." Without hesitation, Luo Xinyu made a call for his secretary to bring it over. 0

However, I did not participate in the subsequent investigation. I glanced at my watch and realized it was already time as set by Sister Yin and Xiao Shi. 0
