For the past few days, Unknown Truth had been wandering around Wutong Street. The phone number that had called him that night belonged to someone living nearby. 0

Unknown Truth was hesitant to call back, unsure of what might be hidden behind that call. He could only search aimlessly for any clues, but there was no progress at all. 0

That afternoon, however, Unknown Truth noticed a crowd gathered at the end of an alley. 0

A police car was parked at the entrance, its red and blue lights flashing. Officer Jiang was talking to some local residents. Sensing something significant, Unknown Truth approached. 0

Officer Jiang was surprised to see Unknown Truth and nodded in acknowledgment. "What happened here?" Unknown Truth asked. 0

"A man committed suicide by cutting his wrists," Officer Jiang replied, gesturing toward a courtyard surrounded by three small houses. "The old lady only had this one son; it's quite tragic. Why are you still here? Haven't you gone home yet?" 0

Unknown Truth hesitated, unsure whether to share the mystery that troubled him with Officer Jiang. 0

At that moment, he heard a sorrowful cry as an elderly man with white hair stumbled out, following a stretcher. 0

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew through, lifting the white cloth covering the body. 0

Gasps erupted from the crowd. The corpse on the stretcher looked bizarre; the entire body was swollen, the face resembling an inflated balloon, its pale skin stretched tight and shiny. Officer Jiang hurried over to help cover the body again. 0

Unknown Truth couldn't help but recall the phone call from that night and the mysterious sender who had been haunting him. He quietly took out his phone and dialed the number that had called him earlier. The ringing echoed in the courtyard. 0

Unknown Truth froze, staring at the lifeless man before him, unable to decide whether to feel pity or hatred—why had he wanted to see Li An before dying? What was their relationship? The face of Li An lying in the morgue seemed similarly swollen; could it be due to prolonged immersion? 0

Too many questions crowded his mind, threatening to burst. He wanted to escape, but his curiosity about the truth kept him lingering around, determined to unravel the mystery himself. 0

After the police left, the crowd of onlookers gradually dispersed. He wanted to ask an old man if he knew anything about Li An, but the old man's neighbors stayed by his side, unwilling to leave. He waited until night fell, and the streetlights cast their circles of light. 0

At that moment, he vaguely saw a figure standing at the corner of the street across from him, silently watching him like a ghost. 0

Feeling a bit timid, he called out softly, "Who’s there?" 0

He walked toward the shadow, his body trembling slightly, but he tried hard to make his steps appear steady. 0

Upon hearing his voice, the figure immediately turned and fled into the darkness. Without hesitation, he chased after it. 0

Clearly, the mysterious shadow was quite familiar with its surroundings and didn’t lose its way in the dark. After turning several corners, it darted into a narrow alley. The alley had only a half-open door leading into what seemed like an abandoned ironworks. 0

He remembered passing by here during the day; it had felt eerie then, and even more so at night. 0

Cautiously, he stepped inside. The iron chains and tools hanging on the racks made faint yet sharp clinking sounds in the dim air. He moved carefully, as if he could hear his own heartbeat—or perhaps the metallic clinks were just echoes of his racing heart. 0

Suddenly, with a loud snap, he felt a piercing pain in his foot. Looking down in shock, he realized it was an old rusty mouse trap that had clamped down tightly on his left foot. 0

Losing his balance, he fell heavily to the ground with a piercing cry. 0

He felt as if his foot was about to be crushed. Summoning all his strength, he tried to pry open the mouse trap; however, it seemed far from ordinary. He found it incredibly difficult even to stand up. 0

Suddenly, the sound of metal scraping against the ground pierced through the air, drowning out the clanking of chains and sharply jarring Unknown Truth's frayed nerves. 0

In the darkness, Unknown Truth saw a shadowy figure suddenly appear in the light spilling from the doorway, wielding a curved scythe that glinted with a chilling gleam under the moonlight. 0

The desire to escape made Unknown Truth forget the pain in his foot caught in the Mouse Trap. He quickly began to crawl backward. The shadow approached with heavy strides, closing in on him! 0

Panicking, Unknown Truth cried out for help, desperately scrambling away, but the sharp scraping sound grew closer, as if it were a relentless specter. 0

He braced himself for the blade of the shadow, having almost given up on resistance. 0

Just then, hurried footsteps echoed from outside—his earlier scream had alerted the night security guard. 0

"Who’s in there?" A bright beam of light swept over him. 0

The night security guard finally arrived at the scene, prompting Unknown Truth to shout for help. When he turned to look back, the figure had vanished. 0

"Hey, what's going on?" A familiar voice reached his ears—it was Officer Jiang. 0

Terrified, he stammered, "Someone... someone is trying to kill me!" 0
