The room was quiet, with Zhao Lang and Shui Yu both lost in their thoughts. The silence was broken when the phone on the table rang again. 0

The missing screenwriter had been found. 0

He was discovered bound and buried beneath a pile of garbage made up of large bags of household waste, deeply unconscious. 0

After the body was removed, it was a brave property management cleaner who, while going about his daily duties in the Garbage Room, stumbled upon the bloodied screenwriter. 0

Suddenly, one of the four scenes that had previously only existed in speculation became clear. 0

On the night of the incident, Li Yuecheng had called Xu Haitao to arrange a meeting. Given their previous heated conflict and the secluded location of their meeting, Xu Haitao brought along the screenwriter who was temporarily staying at his home. The surveillance footage from outside the apartment building confirmed their departure from Xu Haitao's residence, one after the other. 0

After they met, Li Yuecheng confronted Xu Haitao with accusations and questions. It was through these accusations that the truth emerged: Xu Haitao had been secretly selling Li Yuecheng's already limited privacy to various media outlets. 0

Following the exposure of the Dragon Role Incident, Xu Haitao discovered all reports related to three cases, including one involving Fujianese, in Li Yuecheng's office. He sensed that Li Yuecheng might have committed murder. Excited by this revelation, he boasted to his friends about his impending fortune before attempting to blackmail Li Yuecheng. Already suspecting that Xu Haitao had leaked information about the Dragon Role Incident, Li Yuecheng was furious and vehemently denied it, leading to a confrontation in the parking lot. 0

Words escalated into conflict, and in a sudden fit of rage, Li Yuecheng grabbed a brick from nearby construction debris and struck Xu Haitao. He then swiftly knocked out the unsuspecting screenwriter, binding him tightly with ropes made from thick garbage bags before burying him deep within the Garbage Room. 0

In his struggle before losing consciousness, the screenwriter managed to pull down Li Yuecheng's phone in the Garbage Room. This perfectly explained why Li Yuecheng's phone was absent from his suicide scene. 0

At 11:30 PM, Zhao Lang asked, "Do you think this case can be closed now?" 0

The hospital was filled with a mix of pleasant and unpleasant medicinal scents. Shui Yu held a cigarette to his nose and took a gentle sniff before responding leisurely, "Witnesses, physical evidence, and even the killer's confession detailing every aspect of the crime—do you have any reason not to close this case?" 0

Zhao Lang said, "There isn't enough reason, but I can't shake the feeling that this case is just too perfect. The fact that there are no flaws in it is the biggest red flag. And why would Li Yuecheng go through the trouble of binding the screenwriter and burying him? Isn't that just unnecessary?" 0

Shui Yu smiled and replied, "How do we explain the mind of someone who kills while on antidepressants, someone who is both madly meticulous and deeply depressed yet euphoric?" 0

Her gaze fixed intently on Zhao Lang. "I would rather believe that this seemingly unnecessary act is a sign of Li Yuecheng's remaining conscience. He knows that he has lost control over his actions in the midst of his continuous killings, so he wants to keep someone who was not involved in the Dragon Role Incident safe from the danger of being mistakenly killed." 0

Zhao Lang averted his eyes from her and said, with a calm yet firm tone, "There is no such thing as a murder committed with a conscience intact or one with a conscience lost; any murder should be punished by law." 0

The corridor was quiet, only interrupted by the creaking sound of a spring door closing in the distance. 0

After a long pause, Shui Yu let out a deep sigh and turned to walk away. The crisp sound of her high heels striking the ground lingered until she stepped into the elevator. 0

Suddenly, Zhao Lang slammed his fist against the wall with great force. A heavy punch. 0
