How to describe the feeling of seeing her again?
During that dinner, Xu Youning ate well because she didn't know how to talk to the person next to her and didn't know what to say, so she just kept eating. He, on the other hand, seemed to be engaged in conversation with the crew members. Occasionally, he would ask her a couple of questions out of polite concern.
After dinner, everyone was still in high spirits, not only because they had met a young talent like Chen Jiahàn but also because they would be working with such a talented and good-looking team for a while.
For Xu Youning, she wasn't sure how she felt. Was it the joy of reuniting with an old friend? Yet, she felt nervous all evening.
That gathering marked the beginning of their reunion; from then on, she would encounter him regularly.
The next day at work, Xu Youning woke up early. To be precise, she hadn't slept well the night before and had been thinking about how to interact with him until dawn. She even pondered for a long time about what to wear today, but by the time she finished washing up and stood in front of her wardrobe, she still hadn't decided. Watching her Labrador circle around her, she found herself lost in thought.
In the end, after much contemplation, she returned to square one: just stay calm. He was now an acquaintance she wasn't very familiar with anymore; perhaps in his memory, she had already been filtered out. It was best to treat him as a colleague and interact normally.
A denim dress and a pair of Dr. Martens would do.
She thought she had arrived early that day, but when she got outside the crew area, she saw members of their team—a group of people holding breakfast, chatting and laughing together. They greeted Xu Youning warmly as she responded one by one. Then she noticed him; he was wearing a white casual shirt tucked into well-ironed black dress pants. His eyes behind gold-rimmed glasses were looking at her.
"Good morning," he said first.
"Good morning," she replied with a smile.
"Have you had breakfast?" He looked at the girl in front of him. She had always been a very beautiful girl since childhood, and now that she had grown up, her beauty had simply scaled up proportionally, still giving off a quiet vibe.
"Ah, yes, I’ve eaten," she replied, seeing him smile. In truth, she hadn’t eaten.
"Then have another cup of soy milk." Saying this, he handed her the soy milk he was holding and walked past her toward the filming location. She stood there in a daze for a while before coming to her senses. Looking at the soy milk in her hand, she took a gentle sip. It tasted quite good, but it wasn't as delicious as the soy milk she used to drink every day when she was younger; it was really sweet, though.
The weather today was really nice.
During the break after the first scene of the day was filmed, the actors were resting together and couldn’t help but glance over at Screenwriter Xu and Engineer Chen working together. The scene was even more dramatic than an idol drama, especially after learning they were old acquaintances during last night's dinner; they were practically the perfect pair of leads from an idol show. Yet in real life, they remained dazzling enough to be admired from afar.
For some reason, watching him go through the script she wrote made her feel a bit shy.
"What are your thoughts on the construction of the set? You can express them; we will consider everything and come up with a plan," he stated directly, looking at her and waiting for her response.
But she hadn’t thought it through yet.
"It should align with the script; ideally, it should also convey some situational atmosphere for the best effect." This drama spanned from school to workplace timelines, and they were currently working on the school period of the male and female leads, aiming to build their secret base.
