In the morning, various luxury cars were parked outside Jingxiu High School, and students dressed in fashionable Western-style uniforms were entering the school gate one after another.
Today is the first day of the new school year, and the area outside the gate was particularly lively.
A bicycle weaved through the crowd of cars, ridden by a boy wearing glasses. He had fair skin, rosy lips, and a pair of large eyes that revealed a timid and reserved light behind the lenses.
The boy rode his bike into the bike shed on campus, where only a few old bicycles belonging to the school staff were parked.
He locked his bike, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and was about to head toward the teaching building.
Three boys ambushed in the nearby woods quickly sprang out. Upon seeing them, the boy instinctively took a step back in fear.
" Xia Xihe, Brother Liao wants to see you," said the long-haired boy at the front with a swagger.
"But... I have class..." Xia Xihe replied softly.
"I don't care about that! Come with us!" the Long-Haired Boy shouted arrogantly.
Xia Xihe clutched the strap of his backpack and shook his head vigorously. The Long-Haired Boy spat in disdain.
"Tch! Always acting like a little girl throwing a tantrum! I really don't know what Brother Liao sees in you. Come with us!"
He reached out to grab him, but Xia Xihe stepped back again. Gathering his courage, he trembled as he said, "I... I’m telling you, I’ve learned Taekwondo. If you keep messing around, I won’t hold back!"
The other boys laughed at his lackluster threat without taking it seriously. A sturdy boy next to the Long-Haired Boy stepped forward.
"I'd like to see how you're not going to hold back."
Xia Xihe saw him walking towards her and quickly stretched out her hand to stop him. "Please wait a moment..."
"What? Now you want to beg for mercy?"
"No, just hold on." Xia Xihe slowly took out a glasses case from her backpack, carefully removed her glasses, placed them inside, and then put the glasses case back into her bag.
"Okay." Xia Xihe smiled shyly, but the sturdy boy impatiently cursed at her.
"I don't know what you're playing at!"
He lunged at Xia Xihe, and in that instant, her previously timid gaze turned sharp. She clenched her fists, deflected his incoming punch with one hand, and swiftly kicked up with the other foot, striking his shoulder.
The boy, who was over a head taller than her, let out a scream as he was sent stumbling to the side.
"Ha..." Xia Xihe steadied herself in a fighting stance.
The Long-Haired Boy and another Fat Boy were momentarily stunned as they watched their companion get knocked away.
"Skinny Monkey, this kid seems to have really gotten stronger..." the Fat Boy said with a hint of fear.
The boy called Skinny Monkey scoffed defiantly. "What’s so great about this softie! It was just luck! Let’s go!"
The two of them charged at Xia Xihe with a roar—
A flurry of chaotic punches and kicks ensued...
Under the clear blue sky and refreshing breeze, a tall, lean boy with messy dyed blonde hair and a fierce expression stood by the railing on the spacious rooftop of the teaching building, looking down at the campus scene below.
"Defeated by him?"
Liao Jiannong's forehead bulged with a vein as he turned around, exuding a murderous aura. The bruised and battered Skinny Monkey stood behind him with two equally miserable companions, all nodding in unison.
"Useless—!!" Liao Jiannong kicked at them fiercely, causing Skinny Monkey and the two lackeys to duck and cover their heads in fear.
"Brother Liao, don't be angry! That kid said he learned Taekwondo, and he's like a different person now! He's as strong as Yan Xiaolong! Just look at the injuries on me!" Skinny Monkey shouted while dodging.
Liao Jiannong paused, asking skeptically, "Is he really that strong?"
"Yeah, I couldn't believe it at first either, but you’ll see for yourself!"
"Pah! I haven't seen that weakling Xia Xihe before?"
"He's not the same as before. Trust me, Brother Liao, I'm not lying..."
"Fine, even if he really has Yan Xiaolong's spirit, I'm not afraid of him! Do you know who Brother Liao is?!"
While Liao Jiannong was boasting loudly, a boy lying on the rooftop slowly sat up. With his back to Liao Jiannong, he didn't notice and continued shouting, "Bring more people after school; I don't believe I can't handle him!"
Skinny Monkey and the two lackeys turned pale when they saw the boy sitting on the rooftop. They took a half step back and exchanged frantic glances with Liao Jiannong. Before Liao Jiannong could react, he shouted, "What are you blinking for? Are you crazy?"
The boy on the rooftop brushed his messy and soft hair aside and slowly turned around to glance at Liao Jiannong, who was still babbling below.
Liao Jiannong felt a chilling sensation creeping up from behind him. He finally sensed something was off and slowly turned his head...
"Uh..." Liao Jiannong met the boy's black eyes that were lazy yet filled with a cold murderous intent. He immediately gasped in shock, his knees buckled, and he knelt down. Skinny Monkey and the others followed suit and dropped to the ground.
Liao Jiannong's earlier bravado had completely vanished, trembling as he pleaded, "Long... Long... Brother Long, I didn't know you were resting. Please forgive me..."
Yan Yulong yawned, his handsome face still bearing a look of someone who hadn't fully woken up. Liao Jiannong and the others knelt on the ground, waiting for his punishment, not daring to escape.
With a clank, the iron door leading to the rooftop opened, and a stunningly beautiful girl ran up. She looked up and quickly spotted Yan Yulong on the roof. The girl called out playfully, "Yan Yulong, I told you not to sleep in places like this! What if you catch a cold?"
Yan Yulong leaped down and landed beside her.
The girl immediately clung to him like an octopus, rubbing her ample chest against his arm. Yan Yulong didn't even glance at the kneeling figures and left with the girl.
It wasn't until their footsteps faded away that Liao Jiannong and the others dared to lift their heads.
"That was close..." Liao Jiannong wiped away a bead of sweat.
"Brother Liao, it seems this is a place Brother Long likes to come to. We should find another gathering spot in the future..." Skinny Monkey suggested nervously.
"That's true..."
Brother Liao stood up, regaining his authoritative demeanor as he ordered, "Alright, when school ends later, call more people. We must show Xia Xihe a thing or two!"
"Yes!"
