Lisa walked through the office, holding a thick report, preparing to request Mr. Yang to take on the case of Claire. As she walked on the carpet, she found herself lost in memories. She recalled how she had become acquainted with Claire in high school, remembering how Claire was often bullied by her peers. Despite this, they maintained a good relationship. 0

At that time, although Claire was always isolated, her heart was still filled with passion and dreams for life. Lisa often saw Claire drawing alone on the playground after school, wearing a stubborn smile. Claire's strength and kindness deeply moved Lisa, prompting her to become Claire's friend and offer her support and companionship. 0

"Claire," Lisa softly called out the name in her heart, feeling a wave of emotion. She never imagined that the once stubborn and artistically talented girl would end up in such a situation today, accused of being a cold-blooded murderer. 0

She pushed open Mr. Yang's office door, took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself. She knew that this was not just for Claire but also for her own future. If she could shine in this case, it would not only bring exposure to the firm but also elevate her career. 0

"Mr. Yang," Lisa steadied herself and spoke firmly, "I want to take on Claire's case. I believe there is more truth behind her story, and I hope that through our efforts, we can ensure this case receives a fair trial." 0

Mr. Yang looked up, his gaze stern and his tone slightly sarcastic. "Lisa, you know how complicated this case is, right? The pressure from the media and public opinion is immense. Are you sure you want to take it on?" 0

Lisa nodded, her eyes filled with determination and resolve. "I understand the difficulty of this case, but I believe Claire is not that kind of person. She is my friend, and I know her heart. She deserves a fair chance." 0

Mr. Yang scoffed lightly, skepticism evident in his voice. "Lisa, don't play the saint in front of me. You're taking this case not out of some sense of justice but because you know how much exposure it can bring you. What you care about is not Claire's fate but your future and the reputation of this firm." 0

Lisa paused for a moment but quickly regained her composure. "Mr. Yang, I do not deny that I have my own considerations. This case is very important for my career, but that does not mean I do not care about Claire. She is my friend, and I do not want her to be wrongfully judged in such circumstances." 0

Mr. Yang raised an eyebrow, a hint of mockery in his eyes. "Oh? A friend? How touching. Unfortunately, this case is not easy to handle. Claire's background and evidence are very unfavorable to her; can you ensure that you can turn this around?" 0

Lisa tightened her grip on the report in her hands, determination flashing in her eyes. "I will do my utmost. I believe that no matter how difficult it is, I can find a breakthrough. This case is not just for Claire; it’s also for our firm. If we can successfully handle this case, it will greatly enhance our reputation." 0

Mr. Yang looked at her intently before slowly nodding. "Alright, Lisa, since you are so determined, I will support you. But remember that this case is very tricky and requires your full commitment. If you fail, not only will Claire be convicted, but our firm's reputation will also be at stake." 0

Lisa sat at her desk, nervously picking up the phone to have her message relayed to the prison, letting Claire know that someone was willing to fight her case. Her palms were slightly sweaty, but she knew this was something she had to do. 0

After hanging up, Lisa returned to her chair, feeling a mix of emotions. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. She recalled various details of the case, and based on numerous news reports and some of her own connections, she could basically confirm that Claire was the one who killed Mark. 0

Lisa understood that Claire's situation was very unfavorable. The evidence was overwhelming, public opinion was against her, and the prosecutor was well-prepared. However, what she needed to do was not only defend Claire but also, more importantly, avoid the death penalty as much as possible and have Claire's actions classified as manslaughter or influenced by other factors. 0

She knew this would be a tough battle. She needed to find enough evidence to prove Claire's mental state at the time or identify key points that could influence the case's classification. Lisa began mentally organizing possible defense strategies, focusing on how to secure the best outcome for Claire. 0

She opened the folder on her desk and carefully reviewed all the materials related to the case. She knew that every detail could be crucial for overturning the verdict. She needed to find evidence showing that Claire might have been under extreme psychological pressure or faced other uncontrollable factors that led to her losing control. 0

Lisa recalled Claire from high school—her stubbornness and resilience, as well as her passion for life. How could such a girl become a cold-blooded murderer? Lisa believed there must be a painful secret deep within Claire that needed to be uncovered and revealed. 0

She picked up a pen and wrote down some thoughts and questions in her notebook, preparing to ask Claire carefully during their upcoming meeting. She needed to learn more details in order to formulate an effective defense strategy. 0

Lisa pondered which direction the defense should take. Various possible strategies and plans flashed rapidly through her mind as she tried to identify the strongest angle for defense. Just then, the fax machine suddenly began to shake, catching her attention. 0

She walked over and watched as the fax machine slowly spat out a piece of paper. Lisa reached out and picked it up; upon closer inspection, it was a notification from the prison—Claire had agreed to let Lisa represent her in court. 0

A wave of excitement and relief surged within Lisa; this meant that her efforts and persistence had finally paid off. She exhaled, feeling that she had successfully taken the first step. It was a good start; although the road ahead remained full of challenges, she knew she was ready. 0

She quickly organized the documents on her desk, grabbed her bag, and prepared to head to the prison to meet Claire. As she pushed open the office door, sunlight streamed in, bringing a sense of warmth. Lisa took a deep breath and stepped onto the stairs, filled with determination and confidence. 0

Stepping out of the office door, Lisa felt a new strength surging within her. Her steps were firm and powerful; each one was filled with hope and faith for the future. She knew this was just the beginning, but she was ready to face any challenge ahead—no matter how rough the road might be, she would persist in moving forward. 0
