Cao Ling's gaze was sharp as a knife, staring directly at Lin Yu, the veins on his forehead faintly visible. Suddenly, Cao Ling's tone shifted as he coldly asked, "Lin Yu, who do you think is most likely to have done these things?" 0

Lin Yu's heart tightened; he knew very well that he was the one who had eliminated those messengers, but he certainly could not reveal that. He worked hard to keep his expression calm and began to quickly analyze the situation. He understood that he had to provide Cao Ling with a reasonable explanation to protect his secret. 0

"Boss," Lin Yu said in a low voice, his eyes firm, "these messengers were sent out from within us. The only ones who could know about our intelligence dispatches and silently kill are most likely suspects within the Shadow Guard." 0

Cao Ling's eyes narrowed slightly, seemingly evaluating Lin Yu's response. His fingers lightly tapped on the table, producing a dull sound that made the atmosphere in the tent even more oppressive. 0

"What you say makes sense," Cao Ling nodded slowly, the cold light in his eyes still unyielding. "There could indeed be an insider among us. So who do you think this insider might be?" 0

Lin Yu felt an invisible pressure, but he knew he had to remain calm. He took a deep breath and pondered how to answer this question: "Boss, I believe the insider should be someone who has access to our operational plans. They must be well-informed about our intelligence and possess enough strength and means to silently eliminate the messengers." 0

Cao Ling nodded slightly, his gaze still stern: "Do you think this insider could be one of our higher-ups?" 0

Lin Yu's heart jolted; he knew this was a trap. If he answered yes, it might raise more suspicions. He had to provide a reasonable explanation while not exposing his secret. 0

"Boss, I don't think our higher-ups would easily betray us," Lin Yu said cautiously. "But it's also possible they could be threatened or bribed. The most important thing now is to quickly uncover the true identity of the insider to prevent them from continuing to sabotage our plans." 0

Cao Ling's gaze remained sharp as a knife as he coldly said, "For ten years... for these ten years, I haven't felt at peace for a single day. Do you know why?" 0

Lin Yu looked at the person before him, feeling a chill in his heart. Cao Ling's face bore a hint of madness; the wrinkles and white hair revealed his age, yet those icy eyes sent shivers down one's spine. Even after countless life-and-death trials, Lin Yu still felt an innate fear towards Cao Ling. 0

"Boss, why?" Lin Yu barely steadied his voice, trying to understand Cao Ling's true intentions. 0

Cao Ling's lips twitched slightly, revealing a cold smile. "Because for the past ten years, I have been searching for someone, someone who betrayed us. He hides very well, and every time we get close to him, he always manages to escape. He killed our messenger, sabotaged our plans, and caused our operations to fail repeatedly." 0

Lin Yu's heart raced as he struggled to remain calm. He knew that the person Cao Ling was talking about was himself, but he had to conceal this fact and not let Cao Ling notice anything unusual. 0

"Boss, this person must be very cunning; otherwise, he wouldn't have evaded capture for so long," Lin Yu replied cautiously, his gaze firm. "But we will definitely find him and give him the punishment he deserves." 0

Cao Ling's eyes grew colder, as if searching for flaws in Lin Yu's words. His fingers lightly tapped on the table, producing a dull sound that made the atmosphere inside the tent even more oppressive. 0

Cao Ling took a deep breath and said with a crazed expression, "Do you know? The stench of lies has not dissipated over these ten years. My body knows clearly that someone is lying... someone is deceiving me... someone is doing things that go against the Shadow Guard's principles..." 0

At this point, Cao Ling suddenly lowered his head and fell silent, like a broken tool. This change filled Lin Yu with a strong sense of unease. He knew how dangerous Cao Ling's madness and distrust could be, but he struggled to remain calm and not let his inner turmoil show on his face. 0

The tent fell into silence, with only Cao Ling's heavy breathing and Lin Yu's rhythmic heartbeat audible. Lin Yu felt the pressure mounting; he knew that every second now determined his life or death. He quickly thought about how to respond to Cao Ling's words in a way that would ease his vigilance without raising further suspicion. 0

"Boss," Lin Yu said softly, his tone resolute, "I understand your feelings. For ten years, you have been searching for the truth; this pressure is unimaginable. But please believe me, I will do everything in my power to help you find this traitor and restore the Shadow Guard's honor." 0

Cao Ling's fingers stopped tapping; he raised his head, his gaze still cold and frenzied as if weighing every word Lin Yu spoke. His eyes seemed to pierce through Lin Yu's soul in search of any sign of weakness. 0

"Lin Yu, I hope you are speaking from the heart," Cao Ling said coldly. "Because if I find out you are also lying, you know what the consequences will be." 0

Lin Yu did not react excessively; he simply looked directly into Cao Ling's eyes and calmly said, "I will be careful... my lord. The schemes of the rebellious traitors... cannot withstand our righteous forces." 0

Cao Ling looked at Lin Yu as if he saw something laughable and suddenly burst into laughter. The laughter echoed in the tent, carrying an air of coldness and madness. Then he waved his hand dismissively and said contemptuously, "You may go..." 0

Lin Yu was filled with confusion and unease, but he tried to keep his expression calm. He didn't understand why Cao Ling was so eager to find him. Was it merely to say these words? Did it hide a deeper meaning? 0

He slowly stepped out of the tent, his mind full of contradictions and bewilderment. The moment he walked out, the night breeze hit him, bringing a hint of coolness. Lin Yu took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He knew this was not the time to ponder these questions; he had to act quickly, complete his plan, and protect Xiao Yun. 0

As he walked back to his tent, Lin Yu felt the pressure in his heart growing heavier. He knew that the situation he was in was becoming increasingly dangerous, and every step needed to be taken with utmost caution. He picked up some essentials, quickly packed his bag, and prepared to set out. 0
