Cao Ling glared angrily at Wong Ji, fire burning in her eyes. "You have no idea what you're talking about... you brainless idiot!" 0

Before Wong Ji could respond, Cao Ling suddenly leaped from her seat and grabbed him by the collar. Wong Ji's face turned pale with fear, his legs trembling, unable to utter a single word. He had never seen Cao Ling so furious, and his heart was filled with dread. 0

Cao Ling's hand tightened around Wong Ji's throat, forcefully pinning him against the table, her eyes filled with a fierce light. "The descendants of the the Xia Family were wiped out ten years ago; how could anyone still be alive?" 0

Wong Ji felt his throat constricting, struggling to breathe as his face turned red. He desperately tried to break free, but it was futile. Cao Ling's strength left him gasping for air, filled with fear and regret. 0

"You fool!" Cao Ling shouted, her voice brimming with anger and disgust. "How dare you come here and spout such nonsense! You have no idea what you're doing or what our plans are!" 0

Wong Ji's eyes were wide with terror, barely able to speak as his throat was gripped tighter. Cao Ling's fingers pressed harder, as if she intended to crush his neck. 0

"Listen!" Cao Ling said menacingly. "The descendants of the the Xia Family cannot possibly still be alive! If you dare spread such rumors again, I'll personally send you to the guillotine!" 0

Facing death, Wong Ji knew he couldn't die here. He forced himself to endure the fear and managed to say, "M-Madam, there’s a cross-shaped mark on the back of the shoulder... it's absolutely true! I swear to heaven!" 0

Upon hearing this detailed description, Cao Ling's grip suddenly loosened as if a puppet had its strings cut. A flicker of surprise and hesitation crossed her eyes, as if recalling some distant memory. Wong Ji seized the opportunity to catch his breath, filled with both hope and fear as he awaited Cao Ling's reaction. 0

"A cross-shaped mark..." Cao Ling murmured softly, a shadow crossing her expression. Her hand gradually relaxed, allowing Wong Ji to breathe again. He felt a wave of relief wash over him but remained cautious. 0

Cao Ling seemed lost in thought, transported back ten years to the bloody and brutal scenes that haunted her mind. She understood what this mark represented; it was the emblem of the Showa Dynasty royal family, once symbolizing a powerful dynasty. And now, this emblem had reappeared on a girl's shoulder—what could it mean? 0

"Are you sure?" Cao Ling's voice became low and cold. "Are you certain that what you saw was a cross-shaped mark?" 0

Wong Ji nodded vigorously, his tone sincere: "My lord, I would never deceive you! I saw it with my own eyes, I am absolutely certain!" 0

Cao Ling fell silent for a moment, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes. He finally released his grip, allowing Wong Ji to stand up. 0

Cao Ling lowered his head, a chilling aura slowly emanating from him. He murmured to himself, his voice carrying a strange coldness: "Lin Yu..." 0

Seeing Cao Ling lost in thought, Wong Ji hurriedly added, "My lord, my soldiers had already captured that girl, but for some reason, the entire thirty-man unit died in the woods..." 0

Cao Ling's expression instantly darkened, fury blazing in his eyes. He gritted his teeth and suddenly stomped his foot, causing the ground to tremble. His roar echoed like thunder within the tent: "Lin Yu! Lin Yu! You have betrayed me!" 0

Wong Ji was startled by this sudden outburst, feeling even more terrified. He had never seen Cao Ling so enraged; it was as if the entire world trembled under his wrath. Cao Ling's breath quickened, his fists clenched tightly, filled with murderous intent. His mind raced as memories of Lin Yu's past actions and words flooded back to him. The person he had always trusted and relied upon was secretly plotting against him, attempting to undermine his plans. 0

"Lin Yu! You traitor!" Cao Ling growled, his voice filled with boundless anger and hatred. "I will not let you succeed!" 0

Watching Cao Ling's fury, Wong Ji felt a mix of fear and awe. He knew that this storm was inevitable; a bloody turmoil would soon erupt within the Shadow Guard. He also had to tread carefully amidst this storm to avoid being swept away. 0

Cao Ling's face grew increasingly grim; his anger was like boiling lava, ready to erupt at any moment. He tightened his fists until the knuckles turned white: "That traitor Lin Yu, does he think he can escape my pursuit? I will make him understand the price of betrayal!" 0

Just as Cao Ling was about to issue a pursuit order, a tremendous explosion suddenly erupted outside the tent, deafening and shaking the entire camp. The fiery light from the explosion illuminated the tent, making Cao Ling's face appear even more ferocious. 0

"What!" Cao Ling roared, his eyes burning with even fiercer rage. He violently pushed aside the tent flap and saw chaos engulfing the camp outside. Flames were shooting everywhere, smoke filled the air, and soldiers were running in panic—some trying to extinguish fires while others sought shelter. 0

"What is happening!" Cao Ling angrily questioned the soldiers nearby, his eyes glinting with murderous intent. 0

A terrified soldier ran over, trembling as he said, "M-Master, the armory has exploded! We are under attack!" 0

Cao Ling's face was as dark as the sky before a storm, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes. "Lin Yu... this must be his doing!" 0

Cao Ling turned and shouted at Wong Ji, "Gather everyone immediately! Pursue Lin Yu with all our might! Find this traitor for me, no matter the cost!" 0

Wong Ji quickly nodded and turned to carry out the orders. His heart was still filled with fear and unease, but he also knew this was his chance to shine. If he could achieve merit in this pursuit, his position would become even more secure. 0

Cao Ling looked at the chaos in the camp, filled with boundless rage and hatred. He knew this pursuit would be a life-and-death showdown between him and Lin Yu. He would not let this traitor escape easily. At any cost, he would personally deal with this betrayer to uphold his authority and honor. 0
