Shen Qingya's life had undergone a tremendous change; she was no longer the young lady constrained by her family's arrangements but an independent woman with her own business. Her heart was filled with plans for the future, and she had decided to let go of everything from the past, including the scholar Li Qingyun, who once made her heart flutter.
One day, Shen Qingya happened to hear news about Li Qingyun at the market outside her residence. Orphaned and unable to afford his parents' funeral expenses, he was selling himself in front of the estate to bury them. If it were the former Shen Qingya, she might have been moved by this, but now, her heart was calm and untroubled.
Xiaocui worried that Shen Qingya might be affected by old feelings; she advised her, "Miss, it's best if we don't get involved with that scholar."
Shen Qingya smiled faintly, her eyes showing no hint of emotional turmoil. "Xiaocui, you need not worry. He no longer holds a place in my heart."
When Li Qingyun desperately pleaded in front of the estate, hoping for Shen Qingya to come and help him, she did not even show her face. She was not heartless; she simply understood that her fate with Li Qingyun had come to an end, and she could not allow her life to be disturbed any further.
Wu Qing secretly rejoiced upon learning of Shen Qingya's indifference toward Li Qingyun. She had thought Shen Qingya would soften due to old feelings but was surprised by how resolute Shen Qingya had become.
Li Qingyun waited for a long time in front of the estate but ultimately did not see Shen Qingya appear. He felt an unprecedented despair and began to realize that Shen Qingya was no longer the woman who would feel pity for him.
Shen Qingya's life had entered a new phase; her business with Xiaocui was thriving, and they had established themselves in the new town. However, Li Qingyun's appearance disrupted this tranquility. He seemed unwilling to accept Shen Qingya's indifference and lingered around the estate.
One day, Shen Qingya and Xiaocui encountered Li Qingyun again at the market. He looked destitute yet persistent, as if waiting for something. Shen Qingya intended to avoid him, but Li Qingyun took the initiative to approach her, trying to engage her in conversation.
"Miss Shen, I know I have made many mistakes in the past, but I truly hope to earn your forgiveness," Li Qingyun's voice carried a hint of pleading.
Shen Qingya stopped in her tracks, her eyes devoid of any emotion as she coldly gazed at Li Qingyun. "Mr. Li, your past has nothing to do with me, and your future does not require my involvement. The bond between us ended long ago in a previous life."
Li Qingyun was taken aback; he did not expect Shen Qingya to be so resolute. Yet he was not ready to give up and continued, "Miss Shen, have you also been reborn? You must remember everything we once had."
Shen Qingya let out a cold laugh and mocked, "Mr. Li, you really think too highly of yourself. Whether I have been reborn or not is irrelevant to you. In this lifetime, you should just focus on being the garbage you are."
Xiaocui stood nearby, her eyes filled with disdain. She knew that Shen Qingya was no longer the fragile young lady she once was; she had become a strong and independent woman.
Li Qingyun was deeply hurt by Shen Qingya's words. He realized that he had truly lost her and everything he once had. Silently, he turned and walked away, disappearing into the crowd.
Shen Qingya and Xiaocui continued with their lives, not looking back at Li Qingyun even once. They understood that some people and some things, once missed, would never return. Their future held endless possibilities waiting for them to explore.
