In the blink of an eye, summer vacation arrived. Pan Yi packed his belongings and boarded the train home. It wasn't that he didn't want to take the high-speed train or fly; it was just that his family's financial situation was average, and he wanted to save that two or three hundred yuan to lighten his parents' burden.
Pan Yi's home was in Deep City, and taking the train would take over twenty hours, inevitably requiring an overnight journey. Fortunately, Pan Yi was lucky enough to get a sleeper ticket. Although the hard sleeper was quite uncomfortable to sleep on, it was still much better than a hard seat.
Soon, it was late at night, and the once lively train carriage quickly fell into silence. Even he, a young man full of energy, found himself dozing off. Just as the passengers were falling asleep, a sneaky figure slipped into the carriage. He quietly moved from one compartment to another and soon managed to swipe several mobile phones.
Tonight's haul was not bad; indeed, people in the sleeper carriage were wealthier than those in other compartments! The thief thought happily to himself that these phones were not cheap; if he sold them, he could easily make three or four thousand yuan...
The passengers in the sleeper carriage were likely exhausted from their daytime activities and needed to recharge for the next day's journey, as they were all sleeping quite soundly. "People these days are really careless!" The thief smirked in the darkness, feeling delighted in his heart.
After several successful attempts, his confidence gradually grew, and his movements became much quicker.
Before long, he found himself in the middle of the carriage. After stepping out from the carriage, he looked for a restroom. Under the dim light, he lowered his head to take a glance at the newly stolen phone and couldn't help but be taken aback.
This thing was so thin, looking just like a lens; was it really a phone?
With a hundred doubts swirling in his mind, the man accidentally pressed the screen with his finger. He swore that if he ever got another chance, he would rather die than steal this strange phone!
Suddenly, he heard two beeping sounds, and an orange-sized figure labeled "Little Einstein" abruptly appeared on the phone's screen.
The thief's eyes widened in shock as he rubbed them, worried that he was hallucinating. He watched as "Little Einstein" opened its eyes, looking as cute as a sprite, but upon realizing that the man in front of it was a complete stranger, "Little Einstein" opened its mouth and exclaimed, "I've been stolen! I've been stolen!"
The piercing scream shattered the silence in the carriage. The thief instinctively wanted to throw away the strange phone, but to his surprise, with two clicks, the odd phone transformed into a silver bracelet (handcuff) that clamped directly onto his wrist.
"I've been robbed! I've been robbed!"
The sharp cries awakened all the passengers in the carriage, and even from several carriages away, the scream could still be heard.
The crew member and the train police quickly rushed over, kicking open the restroom doors and grabbing the thief who was trying to escape.
The man was soon apprehended by the train police, and the crew member discovered dozens of mobile phones and several wallets of different colors and styles in his pockets.
It was clear that everything was now evident. With so much evidence at hand, there was no doubt that this man was a thief.
Once the thief was subdued, the piercing voice vanished. However, the carriage did not fall silent; instead, it became quite noisy. Sleep was gone as everyone began checking their belongings to ensure they had not been stolen.
After a sigh of relief, the passengers surged forward, gathering near the restroom to inquire about what had happened with that scream and whether the thief had been caught.
