After a long journey, the dean of the magic academy, Leona, finally arrived at a place deep within the Aiserai Plains with Sophia, Morris, Fio, Lina, Brit, and others.
On the vast plain, there was a place covered with a layer of deep mist, obscuring the distant view, but the scene before their eyes was enough to astonish everyone.
At its center, a huge pit yawns open like the entrance to hell, surrounded by a magical array left behind by a meteor impact, emitting a powerful yet chilling wave of dark magic.
The interior of the pit is filled with a suffocating darkness, as if it were an abyss devouring all life and light.
Fio couldn't help but sigh, "Oh my, what is this?! I feel like I'm being drawn to this darkness."
Lina and Brit also exclaimed in shock, as if sensing a kind of ancient evil presence.
At that moment, the headmaster of the Magic Academy, Leona, and several other senior wizards, including the newly appointed instructor Lyra who is proficient in ice magic, solemnly approached. Their brows were tightly furrowed, as if silently assessing the situation before them.
A chill quietly permeated the air. The scene was reminiscent of an ancient and enduring magical ritual about to commence.
"Everyone, please step back," commanded Leona with a serious expression.
Fio, Lina, and Brit obediently moved away, while Sophia and Morris stood to the side, tense and fully focused on observing.
Headmaster Leona of the Magic Academy stood in the center of a group of senior mage teachers, wearing her robes that represented her status and authority. Her gaze focused, she held her magic staff and slowly uttered, "Eternal Frost Break!"
A frosty dragon burst out from their magic circle, charging towards the gathering black mist. This Heavenly Steps ice attribute magic seemed to contain the power of ancient ice that had been sealed for a thousand years. The frost dragon roared as it collided with the black mist.
Suddenly, the darkness in the pit seemed to touch upon some taboo, and began to violently oscillate. Several cold black streams of air, like venomous snakes, attacked Leona and the others.
The high-level mages' faces changed, and they quickly chanted the spell to the last section. Lyra in particular instantly released her powerful ice magic, attempting to freeze these black streams of air.
Darkness seemed to be suppressed in an instant, but then a more powerful force erupted, directly breaking through the magical barrier set up by the high-level mages!
Leona's face became extremely serious. What's even more shocking is that this almost freezing Heavenly Steps ice magic only caused the black mist to dissipate by one-fifth. "That direction... is the battlefield of the divine war! The energy of this black mist far exceeds our expectations," Leona frowned, sensing the seriousness of the situation.
"Everyone, we must track this black mist and see what it's up to. High-level mages of seven stars and above, come with me! Except for Lyra, who will stay to take care of her students, the rest of you, stay put and be on standby. I don't want to see anyone taking unauthorized action."
The magicians nodded in agreement, and some of them immediately began casting spells, following Leona and disappearing into the air, chasing after the black mist. Lyra, the class instructor and a senior magician skilled in ice magic, stayed behind to manage the scene, organizing the other teachers and students to form a defensive formation.
"Sophia, Morris, use your special abilities to sense if there are any other dark magic fluctuations here," Lyra ordered solemnly.
Sophia tightly grasped the "Key of the Celestial Realm" staff in her hand, closed her eyes, and delved deep into her soul to sense; while Morris took out his "Shadowfang" dagger, staring at it intently, trying to find clues that the black mist might have left behind.
After the black mist dispersed, the originally blurry appearance of the meteor gradually became clear. This extraterrestrial object that fell on the Aiserai Plains bestowed an indescribable mysterious atmosphere upon this land.
It seems like a treasure adorned with jewels, with a mottled surface faintly emitting a weak shimmer.
Just as they had experienced a heart-stopping event, Fio, Lina, Brit, and others were about to let out a sigh of relief when an unexpected event occurred.
A gray-brown light suddenly cut through the night sky from the meteorite, like a magical sword breaking through the constraints of time and space.
Morris trembled as if summoned by some mysterious force, and his blue eyes suddenly became deep and attractive.
"Morris!" Sophia called out urgently, trying to reach out and grab him, but her hand seemed to encounter an invisible barrier, unable to get close.
Fio looked panicked, waving his wooden staff, attempting to use magic to stop everything. However, the six-pointed star pattern on the staff flickered for a moment, but seemed to encounter resistance and had no effect.
Lina and Brit also chanted spells to invoke the magic of wind and lightning, attempting to create a barrier or bind the thunder and lightning, but all their efforts seemed to be in vain.
"Stop, Morris! This is too dangerous!" Lyra shouted sternly.
She suddenly gathered a ball of frost in her palm and hurled it towards Morris. A bone-chilling cold spread rapidly with the flying frost, attempting to freeze Morris in place.
But the Shadowfang dagger behind Morris emitted a dark light, easily neutralizing the ice attack from Lyra.
Shortly after, Morris's body seemed to be sucked into a vortex like a meteor, slowly disappearing from everyone's sight, leaving only a gray-brown light.
Sophia stared fixedly at the disappearing point, the "Key of the Celestial Realm" staff in her hand trembling slightly, as if sensing some significant change. The "Wanderer of the Mist" robe clung tightly to her body, as if also providing support for her.
Finally, the grayish-brown light gradually disappeared, and the meteorite returned to its original silence and ordinariness, as if everything was just an illusion.
"Where did he go?" Fio gritted her teeth, apparently unable to accept what had just happened.
"I don't know," Sophia said in a low voice, "but I feel like he's been taken to a place we can't foresee, and may not be able to reach."
Just as Sophia finished speaking, suddenly a large rift in space and time tore open beside her, and everyone hurried to take cover.
"Everyone, be careful!" Lyra was the first to react.
The expressions of the crowd instantly froze, as they saw a fluctuating rift in space and time, like an illusory mirror, showing them a hole in an unknown place.
Sophia was unknowingly drawn in, as if something was calling out to her.
"No, Sophia, you can't go in!" Lyra exclaimed in urgency, waving her ice magic wand in an attempt to seal the rift.
"Wait, I sense a familiar energy," Sophia suddenly said, as her Key of the Celestial Realm staff also began to emit a soft light, as if responding to some kind of power within the crack.
"This is too dangerous!" Lina tried to create a barrier with wind magic, but even her powerful five-star magic couldn't stop this force.
"We may not be able to stop her," Brit said, his lightning magic proving useless at this moment.
Sophia hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided to trust her instincts. She took a deep breath, tightly grasped the Key of the Celestial Realm's staff, and stepped into the rift.
"Sophia!" Everyone shouted, but at that moment, the rift in space and time suddenly closed, taking her with it and disappearing.
