The two children looked up in surprise and saw their parents, instantly understanding what had happened.
"Mom, Dad, we're sorry..." Amy's voice choked up as she stood up and walked towards her parents. Nick also stood up, looking remorseful.
"How did you guys get here?" Jack asked, his voice filled with concern.
"We were curious... I'm sorry, we didn't listen to you," Nick said, lowering his head in shame.
Jack glanced at Puppet Mother and asked, "Who are you? Why did you bring our children here?"
Puppet Mother smiled, but this time, her smile carried a hint of indifference. "I am part of this world. We will not harm your children, and they came here voluntarily."
"Volunteering doesn't mean safety. We need to take our child and leave now," Jack's voice was resolute.
Puppet Mother exchanged a glance with Jis, who nodded, clearly feeling resigned to it all.
"Okay, since you've made your decision, I won't stop you. But remember, this world will always be open to you," Puppet Mother said.
Jack and Laura didn't respond, they went straight to the children and hugged them tightly.
Amy and Nick instantly understood that this time, their curiosity had almost led them to irreversible consequences.
"Let's go, no matter how beautiful and tempting it is here, it's not worth the risk," Laura said with a trembling voice.
"Wait," Jis suddenly spoke, his blue eyes looking sad. "Amy, will you come back?"
Amy swallowed and looked at Jis's captivating innocent eyes, but felt a chill. She shook her head gently, "I can't promise."
Jis smiled, but there was infinite sadness in the smile, "I understand, but no matter what, I will wait for you here."
Jack tightly held the children's hands, his gaze determined, "Let's go."
However, Puppet Mother's smile became somewhat eerie, as if hiding a sinister secret unknown to anyone.
When Jack and Laura left with the children, they both felt the dark atmosphere, but they only wanted to get the children out of this eerie place as soon as possible.
Jack felt his heart pounding fiercely and couldn't help but look back at Puppet Mother, who was standing at the door, smiling at them. But this smile seemed to hide countless secrets and treachery.
"You will definitely come back," Puppet Mother's voice echoed behind them, like a cold wind, sending shivers down their spines.
A group of people walked out of the small gate, and Jack forcefully closed it as if to forever shut out that world.
After returning to the real world, Amy and Nick felt like they had woken up from a dream, but they knew that everything had actually happened.
"Kids, we need to talk," Jack said with a serious expression. They sat down, just like a family meeting.
"You can't go back to that world anymore. We don't know what dangers are there," Laura continued.
Amy glanced at Nick, who nodded slightly, before she spoke, "We understand, Mom, Dad. But the puppets there, especially Jis, they are not bad people."
"Maybe, but we can't be sure. This world is full of unknowns, and unknowns mean danger," Jack said firmly.
"Okay, we promise not to go there again," Nick finally said.
After the family meeting, Amy returned to her room and sat alone on the edge of the bed, thinking about everything related to Jis and puppet world.
Suddenly, she felt a deep sense of loneliness. Perhaps there were some aspects of that world that made her feel special, but the safety of her family was something she couldn't ignore.
At the same time, in that mysterious puppet world, Jis still stood at the door of the small house, with a hint of tears in his eyes.
"Mom, do you think she will come back?" Jis asked.
Puppet Mother Smiling, but with a hint of complexity in her smile, "Child, this world is too mysterious and dangerous for them, but the human heart is hard to predict. Perhaps one day, she will come back to find you."
Jis Nodded silently, filled with reluctance and anticipation in his heart.
Returning home, Jack and Laura did not mention the matter, seemingly avoiding some unspeakable fear. They put Amy and Nick to bed, then sat on the sofa in the living room.
Two people sat on the long sofa in the living room, their eyes unfocused and their hearts heavy. They recalled the time when they brought back two children from the small gate, their dazed expressions as if they had just woken up from a dream.
The living room was shrouded in a gloomy fog from the shrubbery outside, but it couldn't hide the presence of the soft wool blanket draped over the sofa, the ceramic vase cherished by mother Laura, and father Jack's beloved guitar.
These items seem to represent ordinary life, but now they carry a hint of strangeness.
"We can't let the children near that place anymore," Jack finally broke the silence.
"I know, but who is that Puppet Mother... who is she really? And what is that world?" Laura's voice was filled with confusion and unease.
Jack took a deep breath. "I don't know, but I have a feeling that all of this is far more complex and dangerous than we could have imagined."
Laura nodded, "So, what should we do now?"
"First, we need to figure out how that door appeared, and then seal it off permanently. I don't want our home to become the beginning of a nightmare."
Laura tightly held Jack's hand, "Okay, let's face it together."
The next day, Jack entered the living room with a heavy expression on his face, carrying a lock and chain.
"Look, I bought this," Jack said to Amy and Nick, showing them the thick bundle of heavy chains and locks.
"What are you going to do with that?" Nick asked, his eyes filled with curiosity.
"I'm going to use this chain to secure that small door. If I can't remove the door, at least I can make it harder to open."
Jack said, then quickly walked towards the almost mysterious little door.
The door was located on the wooden wall of the room on the left side of the house. It looked like an ordinary door, but it led to a completely different world.
Jack squatted in front of the small door, carefully wrapping the chain around the doorknob and door frame, then locking it with a heavy padlock.
As he worked, he anxiously stared at the door, as if afraid it might suddenly open on its own.
"That should be enough," Jack stood up and pulled the zipper hard to make sure it was secure.
Amy and Nick walked over, their eyes a mix of curiosity and unease.
"What did Mom say?" Amy asked.
"Your mom said she will support my decision. We both hope you can stay away from that place," Jack replied, with a hint of weariness in his eyes.
"Dad, we understand, but that world—" Nick tried to explain.
"That world doesn't belong to us, Nick," Jack interrupted, his tone firm and unquestionable. "I don't know what's there, but I know it puts you in danger."
Nick bit his lower lip tightly and said nothing more.
"We will be careful, Dad," Amy said softly, but her expression revealed the inner conflict she felt. Her feelings for Jis, her curiosity about the puppet world, and the safety of her family all intertwined in her mind.
Jack looked at Amy and sighed deeply, "I just hope we don't have to pay any more for this door."
The night falls, a bright moon hangs high in the sky, casting a clean moonlight.
Jack and Laura sit on the sofa in the living room, each holding a cup of hot tea. They exchange a glance and see the worry in each other's eyes.
"Will the children listen to us and stay away from that place?" Laura asked.
"I'm not sure, but I've done what I can," Jack replied, then placed the teacup on the coffee table.
Laura continued, "Retired Broadway actor Alan and clergyman Francis also seem very interested in this matter."
"I've noticed that too, but for now all we can do is stay vigilant," Jack said solemnly.
Amy and Nick lay in their respective rooms, lost in thought. That door, that world, and those unusual Puppet objects seemed like the intricate plot of a fantasy thriller, drawing them in and refusing to let them go easily.
In Amy's mind, there was also Jis, the seemingly unique puppet boy. She felt that only by unraveling the mysteries of that world could she truly escape from there.
But for the sake of her family, for those seemingly contradictory but deeply sincere emotions, she knew she had to make a choice.
"Perhaps, all of this will have an answer." Amy muttered to herself, then tightly closed her eyes, hoping that it was all just a dream.
But she knew in her heart that all of this was too real, and the truth would eventually come to light.
