Whether willing or not, a few days later, Ye Muyan ultimately took Ying Luo to the clinic.
Along the way, Ye Muyan walked ahead with his head held high, his luxurious robe swaying slightly with his steps, as if exuding an air of authority.
Ying Luo followed reluctantly behind, occasionally stealing glances at Ye Muyan's back, secretly mumbling to herself.
The renovations were nearly complete, and all the furnishings were in place; once Ying Luo was ready, she could directly sit in for consultations.
Ye Muyan had his hands clasped behind his back, slowly pacing through the clinic while introducing the functions of each area to Ying Luo.
Ying Luo looked around curiously, her eyes sparkling with complex emotions.
After they toured the clinic, Ying Luo stared dreamily at the tall figure within reach, her mind momentarily lost in thought.
She couldn't help but recall the various interactions she had with Ye Muyan during this time, a ripple of feelings stirring within her.
Suddenly, she shook her head vigorously, trying to cast these distracting thoughts from her mind.
When her medical skills had improved slightly, she had longed every day to have her own clinic.
Later, while traveling through four countries, she could only suppress this desire in silence.
Now, unexpectedly, such a person had appeared, making it impossible for her to refuse and granting her wish.
Yet she found herself wavering and retreating.
It was merely a first acquaintance; why had it evolved into this situation? And when had her heart become entangled and bound...
Silently following behind Ye Muyan, Ying Luo frowned slightly, unconsciously twisting the hem of her clothes. As she walked, she pondered quietly in her heart, occasionally letting out a soft sigh.
Suddenly, she stumbled and nearly fell; fortunately, Ye Muyan was quick-witted and turned around just in time to catch her.
"Be careful," Ye Muyan said in a low and gentle voice, his hand firmly gripping Ying Luo's arm as if afraid she would fall again.
Ying Luo's face instantly turned red. She gently pulled her hand away from Ye Muyan and said softly, "Thank you, Your Highness."
The two continued walking until they reached the lakeside. Ye Muyan stopped, quietly gazing at the surface of the lake, remaining silent for a long time.
Ying Luo stood beside him, also in silence.
"Do you know what it feels like to care for someone?"
Ye Muyan looked at the lake and asked lightly. There was a hint of barely perceptible melancholy in his voice.
Ying Luo was taken aback, lowering her gaze to the reflection of herself and him standing side by side on the lake's surface.
Suddenly, a few leaves floated from afar and landed in the water, disturbing the tranquil spring waters and the heart lake of the self-possessed person.
Ying Luo gently bit her lip, not responding.
Ye Muyan turned to look at Ying Luo deeply and continued, "I was born indifferent and cold, never caring for anyone."
A trace of loneliness flashed in his eyes.
Ying Luo raised her head to look at Ye Muyan, her eyes revealing a hint of sympathy.
She said softly, "Your Highness holds a noble status; perhaps you have never experienced the emotions of ordinary people."
"But if I cared for someone, I would definitely keep her by my side and would not let her leave."
Ye Muyan fixed his gaze on Ying Luo, his dark eyes burning as if he wanted to consume the person before him entirely.
Ying Luo was startled by his imposing aura, her heart racing. She involuntarily took a step back, clenching her hands into tight fists.
She struggled to suppress the urge to flee, taking several deep breaths before looking back at Ye Muyan: "If it were me, I would willingly give him freedom and would never confine him within this small world."
"What if she leaves freely and never comes back?" Ye Muyan stared at Ying Luo, a look of deep pain etched on his face.
"Am I to be left alone to suffer from longing?"
Longing?
Ying Luo's eyes widened in disbelief, her heart racing even faster.
She had never imagined that Ye Muyan would have such feelings for her. Stammering, she said, "Wang, Wangye, what do you mean? I... I'm just an ordinary woman."
And if she were to be honest with herself, she would never agree to return.
"I have great ambitions yet to fulfill; I cannot be burdened by personal feelings."
Ye Muyan's imposing demeanor shifted in an instant, his voice softening as if he were pleading. "Ying Luo, I can only ask you to bear with me for now."
Ying Luo was suddenly moved, unable to utter a single word of rebuttal. She gently lowered her head, filled with inner conflict.
She knew she couldn't easily fall into this emotion, but Ye Muyan's words made it impossible for her to refuse.
She could only turn her gaze away to the rippling surface of the lake. Just as unclear was the uncertain future that lay ahead of her.
