The customs officer ordered the three of them to stand in a line and then closed the door to the room. The small space immediately felt oppressive, with only them and the Black customs officer inside. Erin noticed that the surveillance camera in the room was not activated; the lens was pointed downwards, clearly adjusted on purpose. She exchanged glances with Mark and Lisa, sensing that the current situation was strange and dangerous. 0

Mark stepped forward immediately, speaking slowly in broken Spanish, "Sir... I'm sorry... we... didn't... do... anything... wrong." His voice trembled slightly, but he still tried to remain calm. 0

However, the Black customs officer merely stared at him coldly, showing no change in expression. Then, he pulled out a small box from under the table and slammed it onto the desk with a loud thud. The sound echoed sharply in the cramped room, causing all three of them to flinch. 0

The customs officer pushed the box toward them, his eyes filled with a mix of provocation and indifference. Mark nervously glanced at Erin and Lisa before cautiously opening the box. His fingers trembled slightly from anxiety as he slowly lifted the lid, revealing its contents that made them all gasp in shock. 0

Inside was a handgun, accompanied by two fully loaded magazines. Erin's heart raced as countless thoughts flashed through her mind—what was going on? Why would the customs officer give them something like this? 0

The Black customs officer smiled mysteriously and said softly, "Mad Dog asked me to prepare this little gift for you." 0

Erin, Mark, and Lisa exchanged stunned and confused looks. Erin struggled to maintain her composure, trying to understand the truth behind it all. "What does this mean?" she asked as calmly as she could manage. 0

"This is for your safety," the Black customs officer replied, a hint of mockery in his eyes. "The place you're going isn't exactly safe; with this, you might have a better chance of protecting yourselves." 0

Mark's hand remained on the box, his heartbeat racing like a drum. This mission was clearly much more dangerous than they had anticipated, and Mad Dog seemed to have known all along. They had come merely to conduct an investigation but were now caught up in something deeper and far more perilous. 0

Erin took a deep breath and decided to temporarily accept this "gift," even though she felt uneasy inside. "Thank you for your warning; we'll be careful," she said, trying to make her voice sound firm. 0

The Black customs officer nodded, seemingly satisfied with their reaction. "Good, then you can leave now. Remember, we are always watching you." 0

The three of them collected themselves and left the room with the small box in hand. Once outside the customs area, they found a relatively quiet corner and exchanged serious glances with one another. 0

"This is really crazy," Mark said softly. "Are we really going to take this thing?" 0

"We have no choice," Erin replied, her eyes filled with determination. "No matter how dangerous this investigation is, we have to see it through. Mad Dog clearly knows what we will face, and we must be prepared." 0

Lisa nodded, still a bit nervous, but her eyes also sparkled with resolve. "We will succeed; let's all do our best together." 0

After some discussion, the three decided to leave the gun with Mark. After all, he had experience as a war correspondent and was more familiar with firearms. Mark silently nodded, took the handgun, and carefully checked it to ensure it was safe before tucking it into his waistband. He pulled down his shirt to conceal the weapon, making sure it wouldn't be discovered. 0

Erin and Lisa watched from the side, their feelings mixed. This investigation had already exceeded their expectations, and they needed to be fully prepared for any potential dangers. 0

"Alright, let's go," Erin took a deep breath to steady her emotions. The three packed their bags and walked out of the airport terminal into the outside world. 0

The scene outside the airport was filled with exotic charm; various languages intertwined as pedestrians hurried by and vehicles came and went. Erin looked up at the sky; the red sun was nearly sinking below the horizon, and a faint romantic atmosphere lingered in the air. 0

They quickly hailed a taxi, driven by a middle-aged man with a thick beard and a friendly smile who asked, "Where are you headed?" 0

Erin replied in fluent Spanish, "We are going to a hotel in the city center." 0

The driver nodded and helped them place their luggage in the trunk. The three settled into the car as it soon drove away from the airport. The scenery outside changed rapidly, transitioning from the airport's hustle and bustle to the city's vibrancy. 0

The taxi navigated through Spain's narrow alleys, flanked by ancient buildings that seemed to bear the marks of time. The sun gradually descended, painting the sky in shades of crimson as if cloaked in a layer of mystery. Inside the car, they calmed their earlier tension while gazing out at the passing landscape, each lost in their own thoughts. 0

Erin leaned against the window, her gaze following the sunset that slowly disappeared beyond the horizon. She felt an inexplicable pressure and sense of responsibility. This investigation was an unprecedented challenge for her and an opportunity to prove her capabilities. As she contemplated the difficulties ahead, she felt both anticipation and a hint of unease, but more than anything, she felt resolute and determined. She knew that all of this was in pursuit of the truth. 0

Mark sat next to Erin, his hand gently resting on the gun at his waist, feeling its cold, hard touch. His eyes gazed out the window, the constantly changing scenery reminding him of his experiences as a war correspondent. During those days, he witnessed too many farewells and the harsh realities of life and death. This investigation brought him back to a state filled with danger and uncertainty. He silently vowed to protect Erin and Lisa, ensuring that this mission would be completed successfully. 0

Lisa sat in the back seat, her gaze casually sweeping over the landscape outside the car window. She was filled with curiosity and excitement about this investigation, eager to uncover the truth behind the mysterious cult. She knew that this journey would be full of challenges and unknowns, but she was not afraid. For her as a technical expert, any challenge was an opportunity for growth. She silently promised herself to use her expertise to help the team succeed in this investigation. 0

The taxi continued to weave through the alleyways as the blood-red sunset gradually faded, and night began to envelop the entire city. The three of them sat in the car, each harboring different thoughts, yet they all understood that this journey would change their lives. 0

As the car drove toward their destination, Erin, Mark, and Lisa's emotions gradually settled down, replaced by a tense yet exciting anticipation. 0
