Finally, it's time to get serious!
Jiang Yizhou looked at the sign of Yue Tan Post Market, took a coin out of his pocket to buy a ticket, and walked in leisurely.
He was a typical repeat customer, preferring to continue shopping at stores where he had previously made purchases. He would only switch to another store when he felt it was no longer worth it. This personality made him well-known to the owners of the shops he frequented.
"Wu Boss, I'm back again. I hope I'm not bothering you?" After wandering around the Postal Market a few times, he had gradually become familiar with Wu Youwei, the owner of the stall where he had previously spent three thousand yuan on a Phone Card.
"No problem at all! Looking at you this time, it seems like you're ready to make a move?" Wu Youwei sat in a chair, his round belly shaking with his movements as he laughed heartily.
Jiang Yizhou smiled shyly; there was nothing to hide. After spending more time here, he realized that hardly anyone paid attention to him. "Yes, I'm looking for the Map Test Card and the Pig Card. What are the prices now?"
"They've just gone up by a couple of yuan compared to before. Why are you so fixated on these two cards?"
Jiang Yizhou smiled without answering. He had spent part of his money buying a bunch of Phone Cards and then switched to another vendor. This time, he visited five different stalls before spending all the money in his hands.
After leaving the Postal Market, he gazed at the clear sky, standing still and staring at the clouds above, feeling the slow rotation of the Earth itself. It's just a year; I can wait.
Without any exceptional skills or eloquence in socializing, Jiang Yizhou could only compensate for his shortcomings with money.
He boarded a bus, this time heading not to his residence near the construction site but to an unfamiliar street. It was no different from others, except for a Computer Training Class that Jiang Yizhou thought was worth checking out; he had learned about it from job advertisements.
Looking at the large sign for Yuanxiang Computer Training Class hanging on the second floor, Jiang Yizhou approached a door that opened slightly and climbed up the stairs.
"Bang bang bang, is anyone there?" Although the door was half-open, Jiang Yizhou did not walk in; he just peeked inside to check the situation. To his surprise, it felt much more spacious inside, completely contrasting with the narrow entrance below.
"Come in, sit down over there, what are you dawdling for?" Jiang Yizhou heard the words "come in" and walked in, only to find a dozen people sitting below listening, while a mature man in his thirties was holding a teaching stick, which was just a thin wooden rod pointing at the screen projected by the projector. After finishing his words, he ignored Jiang Yizhou and continued with the lecture.
Feeling somewhat awkward, Jiang Yizhou circled around the teaching area and sat down on a chair at the back, looking around. He had never attended a Training Class before, so he had no idea what computer training was like, especially in this era. Was it similar to the cram courses for quick programmers in later years?
After listening for a while, Jiang Yizhou gained some confidence. He realized that the content being taught was similar to the Computer test he had taken when he first entered university. Before that, he had never studied computers; he only knew they were used for browsing the internet and listening to music. He had worried about what would happen if he failed.
Inside were various basic computer operations, such as how to use Excel spreadsheets; he didn't know any of it. Additionally, another English test divided freshmen into two levels: one was exempt from English and only needed to pass an exam; the other needed to take English classes for two years and could not register for the CET-4 or CET-6 during the first academic year.
In the end, he was relieved that as a Computer major student, he did not need this exam to determine his Computer level; it was just a unified school exam that included them as well.
Before realizing this was just a misunderstanding, he quickly brushed up on basic Computer knowledge, downloaded many tutorials from P Station, and self-studied for a while. At least he could handle FFIE; he had also learned some other tools. Although he wasn't as proficient as a professional, teaching others was still quite easy.
"Hey..." When Jiang Yizhou saw the man at the podium come down, he raised his hand to greet him. However, that man mistook him for someone else greeting him and waved back before turning into another room with another class of students. They really were short on people!
Jiang Yizhou looked at this class of students who were discussing and studying earnestly and mustered up his courage to stand up among them. He spread his hands downwards to signal everyone to be quiet. "Hello everyone, I am here to apply for a training teacher position. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask me!"
There was an awkward silence. At least give me some face! After merging with the previous Jiang Yizhou's personality, compared to his past life, he had become much bolder—not because of bravery but due to a change in mindset. The honest and simple him felt that if he could do something, he should just do it without hiding away. In contrast, his past self had been timid and lazy when faced with challenges.
"Hello, I didn't quite understand what you just explained!" A woman wearing a plaid shirt with her hair tied in a ponytail raised her hand, breaking the awkward atmosphere. This made Jiang Yizhou breathe a sigh of relief; when someone is encountering new things alone, the last thing they want is discouragement.
It's like a child who has been taught to be helpful helping an elderly person for the first time but ends up being scammed; that psychological shadow is not easily resolved. Even if they are eventually vindicated, most would likely avoid doing such things again.
Similarly, giving a speech or lecture for the first time only to be met with resistance from students—such as boos or even walkouts—would also be a heavy blow.
"Thank you very much," Jiang Yizhou said with a smile as he walked over to the woman and asked, "Could you please explain what you said earlier? Also, what specific problems are you encountering?"
"It’s like this..."
...
When Sun Yuliang returned, he was surprised to find that the person he thought was there to enroll in classes was actually helping others with their questions.
Jiang Yizhou noticed that it had suddenly become quiet around him. He straightened up and looked around, discovering that Sun Yuliang was standing behind him. His expression changed, and finally, with an awkward smile, he extended a hand toward Sun Yuliang. "Hello, I’m here to apply for the training teacher position. My name is Jiang Yizhou."
"Let’s talk over here!" Sun Yuliang said, pointing to his office with a complex tone.
Jiang Yizhou followed Sun Yuliang into the office and took a quick glance around. There was a desktop computer, the kind with a large monitor, placed on an office desk, along with a bookshelf, two sofas facing each other, and a coffee table in between.
"I'm sorry, but the Training Class is short-staffed. I've been too busy by myself and thought you were a late student," Sun Yuliang said as he guided Jiang Yizhou to one of the sofas and sat down, looking somewhat apologetic.
"It's okay; this is actually good for me. Seeing how much you need help makes me feel like my chances of getting hired have increased significantly!" This was Jiang Yizhou's honest opinion.
