In father Jack's office, Amy and Nick looked at the old news displayed on the computer screen. In the interview, Margaret still had a smiling face, but at this moment, that smile seemed somewhat chilling. 0

"In this interview, Margaret mentioned that her puppet art is influenced by an ancient handicraft, which requires a certain 'vitality'," Jack said thoughtfully. 0

"Vitality?" Amy asked in confusion, "What does that mean?" 0

Nick also looked puzzled, his blue eyes staring at the screen, trying to decipher more information from it. 0

"I'm not sure either, but this may be the key to understanding the puppet world and that eerie big tree," Jack replied seriously. 0

Amy and Nick and their group stepped into the house. With each step, it felt like they were on an adventure, their eyes sharp as they searched for possible hidden clues or objects. 0

The house was filled with the scent of time, and the old-fashioned furniture and the paintings on the wall seemed to exude a disturbingly oppressive atmosphere. 0

"Amy, look!" Nick suddenly stopped, his eyes wide open, pointing tightly to a corner of the ceiling. 0

"What?" Amy squinted and followed Nick's gaze, furrowing her brow. 0

"There, the ceiling, I feel like there should be something there," Nick said excitedly, his voice revealing an undeniable curiosity that couldn't be ignored. 0

Full of doubt but also curiosity, Amy turned to the second floor with Nick and arrived at a closed door, leading to a slightly mysterious warehouse. 0

Amy took a deep breath and slowly opened the door, the sound of the door being pushed open accompanied by a creaking of wood. The two of them walked in without hesitation. 0

The room was dim and stuffy, but their attention was immediately drawn to an unusual corner on the ceiling. 0

Nick walked up to an old dusty chair, carefully stepped on it, and reached out to knock on the ceiling. 0

When he knocked on a piece of wood that sounded unusually hollow, his eyes lit up, and he pushed hard. As expected, the board moved just as he had anticipated. 0

"Amy, come up quickly and take a look!" Nick shouted as if he had discovered a new continent, his eyes shining with excitement. 0

Amy's heart raced as she carefully stood on another chair worn by time, and delicately extended her hand to fully open the wooden board, revealing a passage shrouded in darkness. 0

The heart was filled with inexplicable anticipation and excitement. The two of them picked up the flashlight that had been prepared long ago, their palms slightly sweaty, and climbed up carefully. 0

At the top of the corridor is a small studio, with dust flying and the air seemingly frozen in time. The elusive dust particles dance in the slanting sunlight, indicating that no one has been here for a long time. 0

On the work table are various tools for making puppets: chisels, hammers, small saws, as well as some wood and fabric. 0

The tools are arranged in a disorderly manner, yet they reveal a sense of creative tension. There are also many puppets, large and small, some completed and some still in the process of being made. They lie quietly there, as if waiting to be given life. 0

"Oh my..." Amy murmured, her brow furrowed and a hint of unease showing at the corners of her mouth. 0

Nick's gaze fell on a huge humanoid container, inside of which a nearly formed puppet was housed in a transparent glass container. 0

Her eyes narrowed, and the smile on its face was exactly the same as the one in Margaret's interview. 0

"Amy, I feel like this is the Puppet Mother," Nick said, his eyes heavy with seriousness and his tone carrying an inexplicable weight, as if bearing a heavy secret. 0

Amy slowly approached the glass container, her fingers gently touching the cold surface of the glass. 0

She flashed a hint of panic in her eyes as she looked at the puppet in the container, feeling an inexplicable sense of unease growing stronger in her heart. The facial expression of this puppet was exactly the same as Margaret's. 0

"I feel like all of this is too eerie, we need to find out the truth," Amy tightly bit her lower lip, her brow furrowed, feeling like all of this was beyond her comprehension. 0

Amy stared at the face of the puppet, feeling a chill in her heart. 0

Unconsciously, she touched her chest. Suddenly, she thought of Jis, the puppet boy with an indescribable charm in his expression. "That's how Jis became a puppet, right?" she asked. 0

"Should be," Nick replied, "And this studio, this puppet, might be Margaret's." 0

Nick walked over to a worktable, where some old newspapers and notebooks were scattered. He flipped through a couple of old newspapers, and suddenly his expression changed as if he had seen something amazing. "Amy, come over and look at this!" 0

Amy walked to the work desk and picked up a small notebook. 0

It was a notebook filled with densely packed, somewhat blurry text, but it was clear that it contained detailed records. Phrases like "puppet production process," "psychological modeling," and "emotional trigger points" kept appearing, each paragraph accompanied by some sketches and calculation formulas. 0

She noticed that a certain page had been marked. "Here it says, there's a ritual called 'puppet flesh manipulation'." She read aloud from the notes, "It's said to be able to turn a person's body into a puppet and curse them to be controlled." 0

Nick listened and furrowed his brow even more, his gaze becoming sharper. "This is too unbelievable." 0

He said somewhat shocked, then bit his lip. "But this explains why Jis and the other puppet are different, why he has emotions." 0

Amy tightened her grip on the small notebook, her eyes determined as if she had already prepared to face everything. "Yes, but we need to find out who is conducting these terrible experiments and stop them," she said firmly, her words filled with determination. 0

Subsequently, Amy continued to carefully flip through the small notebook. 0

Her gaze instantly froze as she suddenly discovered that a page had been torn off, with only faint remnants of the words "child" and "soul" visible. A chill ran down her spine, evidently, this was far from simple. 0

At that moment, a squeaking sound came from the other side of the room. Amy and Nick turned around in shock, their eyes widening as they saw a nearly formed puppet had fallen down. 0

Its wooden arm slipped, and its fingers clearly pointed to a cabinet in the corner. 0

Amy was startled, but she forced herself to stay calm and said with a serious expression, "Nick, I think we should go and take a look at that cabinet." Her hand trembled slightly, but a determined smile appeared on her lips. 0

Nick turned pale with fright, but with his sister's encouragement, he tried to calm himself down. The siblings cautiously approached the cabinet, took a deep breath, and then opened it. Inside the cabinet, there was an old booklet and a key. 0

The cover of the manual reads "How to Remove the puppet Curse," with slightly blurry handwriting but clear enough for people to read. 0

"It looks like this is what we need," Amy picked up the manual and the key, her eyes shining with hope and determination. 0

"Hurry, let's go back and tell Jis and the others, find a solution." She tightly grasped the key, as if it were the beginning of redemption. 0

As they left the studio, the human-sized puppet in the glass container suddenly opened its stiff mouth, making eerie clicking sounds, as if laughing, as if knowing everything that was about to come. 0
