The job of handing out flyers was not as easy as Guoguo had imagined. Some people chose to ignore the flyers when they were handed to them, while others took a glance and tossed them aside.
Guoguo did not lose heart; instead, she transformed her frustration into motivation and smiled even more at passersby.
After half an hour of familiarizing herself with the task, Guoguo realized that merely smiling was not enough to attract customers into the store. After pondering for a few minutes, she seemed to come up with a solution. With a smile, she handed a flyer to a passerby and said, "The bread at Southern Wind Bakery is really delicious! Don’t miss out, sir. You and your beautiful girlfriend should go in and take a look."
The young man, referred to as "sir," exchanged glances with his girlfriend, looked at the sign for Southern Wind Bakery, and nodded. "Alright, let's go in and take a look."
"Thank you, please come in." Guoguo quickly stepped aside to let them pass. After watching the couple enter the store, she continued handing out flyers. This time, she approached an average-looking girl who appeared to be around twenty years old. "The bread at Southern Wind Bakery is really delicious! Don’t miss out, this beautiful sister should come in and take a look."
Upon hearing Guoguo call her "beautiful sister," the average-looking girl instantly felt flattered. She took the flyer and thanked Guoguo before walking into the bakery.
Seeing the girl enter the store, Guoguo seemed to have grasped the technique: to attract customers, one must be smooth-talking!
With this newfound skill, handing out flyers became second nature to her as she watched one passerby after another enter the store. Situ Nanfeng was busy managing everything.
Situ Nanfeng became overwhelmed and had to call Guoguo to stop and help inside the store.
Time flew by during their busy hours. As night fell and fewer people were around, Guoguo and Situ Nanfeng finally had a moment to catch their breath.
"Nanfeng, you will hire more people, right?" If it was this busy every day and she could only earn fifty dollars, wouldn’t that be quite unfair?
"I’m not hiring anyone else; I’m only hiring you. I’m just running a shop here; I can’t afford to pay too many salaries." Situ Nanfeng had worked for two years to save money to open this bakery. Hiring too many people would strain his finances; he might not even make enough profit to cover employee wages. "Alright, it’s already 10 PM; you can clock out now. Here’s your pay for today."
