Situ Nanfeng handed a fifty-dollar bill to Guoguo, saying, "Go change out of your uniform before you leave."
Guoguo took the fifty dollars, carefully put it in her pocket, and then went to the restroom to change into her own clothes. After coming out, she said to Situ Nanfeng, "I'm leaving now. Good night."
As she watched Guoguo walk out of the Bakery, Situ Nanfeng suddenly ran out and said, "It's late; it's not safe for you to be alone. Let me walk you home."
"No need, I'm fine."
"You are my employee. If something happens to you on the way, I would feel guilty for the rest of my life. Just let me walk you home," Situ Nanfeng insisted, clearly worried about Guoguo being alone.
"Well... okay." Guoguo saw sincerity in Situ Nanfeng's fair and resolute face and nodded in agreement.
"Wait for me a moment; I'll lock up the store and then walk you home." Seeing Guoguo agree, Situ Nanfeng hurried back into the Bakery, took the keys from the drawer, walked out to the entrance, closed the gate, locked it, put the keys in his pocket, and then approached Guoguo. "Let's go."
"Okay."
Under the orange streetlights, a short figure from Freshman Year walked alongside Situ Nanfeng. Guoguo chatted with Nan Feng along the way, sharing laughs and talking about their interests as well as some amusing stories from school.
As they talked, Situ Nanfeng suddenly asked, "Where is your home?"
"I don't have a home." When it came to family, Guoguo felt disheartened and her mood dropped.
Guoguo's answer surprised Situ Nanfeng greatly. "Then where do you live? What about your parents?"
"I currently live in the school dormitory." Guoguo forced a smile, hiding the hint of sadness in her eyes. "My mom passed away from heart disease two weeks before school started, and as for my dad... never mind, let's not talk about that. I'm here now, thank you for bringing me back."
With that, Guoguo quickly changed the subject.
Standing at the school gate, Situ Nanfeng looked up and immediately saw the sign for Vidorna Academy. He then turned to her with a tone of comforting sympathy and said, "Take care of yourself. Tomorrow will be better. Good night."
"Yeah, everything will be fine. Good night."
Before she finished speaking, Guoguo heard the sound of a car horn. A Silver Sports Car was parked behind them, and the person in the driver's seat was Murong Xiuxian.
