Subsequently, Amy and Nick began to tidy up the living room. Nick carefully cleaned the floor with a mop and cleaning solution, while Amy used disinfectant to carefully wipe down the sofa and the surrounding area.
After cleaning, Amy and Nick started preparing food for their parents. Luckily, their parents had bought a lot of groceries in town last time, including some easy-to-cook and eat food.
Amy carefully cooked some soft porridge and chopped up some vegetables and meat so that they could swallow more easily. She placed the bowls on the table and prepared utensils for her parents.
"Come on, Mom, Dad, have some food," Amy said gently, carefully spooning the food to their mouths.
Although their parents were mentally impaired, they instinctively opened their mouths and ate some food. Amy and Nick took turns feeding them, making every effort to ensure that each mouthful of food went smoothly into their mouths.
After the meal, Amy brought out clean water and carefully helped her parents brush their teeth, then gave them some water to ensure they wouldn't become dehydrated.
Throughout the whole process, both Amy and Nick remained patient and gentle. Despite feeling helpless and anxious, they had to stay strong, for their parents and for themselves.
Just as Amy and Nick finished preparing dinner for their parents and tidied up the living room, the phone in the living room suddenly rang. Amy nervously answered the phone and only heard the urgent voice of the caller.
"Is Jack at home? I'm his colleague from the newspaper, Daniel. I've called his cell phone several times, but it just goes to voicemail. Tomorrow's meeting is very important, and I need the document he was supposed to prepare." The caller's voice revealed impatience and urgency.
Amy swallowed hard, trying to sound calm and natural. "Hmm, Uncle Daniel, my dad is not at home right now, but I can help you look for that document. Can you tell me the name of the document? I'll call you back when I find it."
Her colleague quickly told her the name of the document, and Amy jotted it down before hanging up the phone.
She turned and walked towards her father's desk, beginning to search through the cluttered surface filled with documents and books.
After flipping through piles of documents, Amy finally found the draft in a folder labeled "Emergency Meeting." She breathed a sigh of relief, took the folder back to the living room, and dialed Jack's number again.
"Uncle Daniel, I found the documents. When are you coming to pick them up?" Amy inquired.
The other person replied that he would be there in half an hour.
Amy agreed and also told him that her father needs to take care of her grandmother tomorrow and may not be able to attend the meeting. She is currently driving in a hurry, coincidentally her phone is out of battery, and she forgot to bring the charger. The reception is poor in the countryside, so she hopes he can help her ask for leave.
As soon as the call ended, Amy's phone emitted a low battery warning. She quickly found the charger and plugged her phone into the socket.
At this critical moment, having a dead phone battery is absolutely unacceptable to her.
Amy walked back to the living room, looking at her parents on the sofa, feeling full of worry and uncertainty in her heart.
However, at this moment, her thoughts were interrupted by Nick's voice.
"Amy, we need to find a way to solve this problem. We can't let our parents continue like this," Nick's voice was filled with determination.
Amy nodded, determination shining in her eyes. "Yes, we must find a solution. We will work together to make it happen."
Half an hour later, the doorbell rang. Amy knew it was her father's colleague. She took a deep breath, composed herself, grabbed the documents, and prepared to open the door.
When she opened the door, she saw Uncle Daniel standing outside with a worried look on his face. His eyes scanned Amy's face, as if searching for an answer.
"Uncle Daniel, here are the documents you need," Amy handed him the folder, trying to remain calm.
Daniel took the document and a hint of gratitude flashed in his eyes. "Thank you, Amy. How is your dad? Why did he suddenly take leave?"
Amy quickly replied, "He needs to take care of my grandmother, she suddenly fell ill. So he might need some time to take care of her."
Daniel nodded, seemingly accepting the explanation. "Alright, I hope your grandmother recovers soon. Thank you, Amy. Tell your dad we'll be waiting for him at the newspaper office."
After saying that, Daniel turned and left. Amy closed the door, leaned against it, took a deep breath, and felt a hint of relief.
Back in the living room, Amy looked at her parents sitting motionless on the couch, feeling a sense of powerlessness and unease in her heart. Nick stood quietly beside her, arms crossed over his chest, wearing an equally worried expression on his face.
"We have to find a way, Nick. We can't give up," Amy said firmly.
Nick nodded, a hint of determination flashing in his eyes. "We will find a way, Amy. We've always been together, and this time is no exception."
In Nick's words, Amy felt a hint of comfort and strength.
At that moment, she suddenly remembered the energy stone in her hand, which was Jis's final soul attachment and their only hope as siblings.
Amy carefully took out the energy stone from her pocket, and it still emitted a soft light.
Suddenly, a faint but warm voice of Jis came from the stone.
"Amy, Nick, I know you are going through a tough time right now. Don't lose hope, I will do everything I can to help you," Jis's voice carried encouragement and determination.
A glint of surprise flashed in Amy's eyes as she tightly held onto the energy stone, feeling a surge of strength welling up in her heart.
"Jis, what can you do for us?" Amy asked eagerly.
"I can sense the fluctuations in your world. The influence of Puppet Mother still lingers. I will try to help you find clues to resolve it from this end," Jis said resolutely.
Amy and Nick exchanged a hopeful glance, then turned their attention back to their parents. It would be a long and difficult journey, but at least the two siblings were no longer fighting alone.
Night falls, leaving only the warmth of the light and the unspoken understanding among family members in the room.
Amy and Nick begin to prepare for bedtime, helping their parents change into their pajamas to ensure they are comfortable and safe. After completing all of this, the two of them also wearily make their way to their own rooms.
When she lay in bed that night, Amy stared at the ceiling, lost in thought.
She thought about the eerie puppet world, about Jis, and about the challenges they were about to face.
Only by finding the puppet witch who controls everything can they truly restore their parents and return to their peaceful, ordinary lives.
Meanwhile, Nick lay quietly in another room, his heart filled with determination. They couldn't give up like this.
For their parents, for themselves, the two siblings must find a solution.
That night, Amy and Nick had a firm belief in the silent darkness: no matter how great the difficulties and challenges, they would not give up.
