Huxin allowed Hui Ting to stumble out, her cold gaze sweeping over the kneeling crowd before she turned to ask Qing Yan,
"Qing Yan, are you done writing?"
"Miss, it's finished," Qing Yan replied as she handed the rice paper to Huxin. She couldn't guess what her mistress wanted it for, but it certainly wasn't because Huxin had a poor memory.
Huxin glanced at the rice paper and raised her hand to point at the crowd.
"Qing Yan, take it over and have them sign their names after what they just said. Then carry their young lady back and make sure to clean this place up before you leave."
After Huxin finished speaking, she lazily got up, picked up the Vajra Furnace from the table, and without looking back, entered the inner room, leaving the crowd with a cool and casual silhouette. It was as if the bloody scene they had witnessed earlier was as ordinary to her as watching the sun rise and set.
...
Relying on her memory, Huxin found her bedroom. After putting away the Vajra Furnace, she lay down on the bed without even changing her clothes. This day had been exhausting; heaven had brought her here but only granted her a month's worth of memories. Yet in just one day, she had interacted with figures so powerful that merely stomping their feet could shake the continent for three days. Every step felt like walking on thin ice, and everyone harbored secrets that were both intricate and intriguing.
All she wanted now was a good rest; everything could wait until dawn.
...
Huxin fell asleep immediately, unaffected by the commotion in the front hall where people were being carried out and floors were being cleaned.
Just as she was drifting in and out of sleep, she heard Qing Yan's voice softly ringing in her ear.
"Fourth Young Lady, everything outside has been tidied up, Miss Si Qian has also been sent back to the Liang Family, and the Liang Family has invited Consort Mei from the palace overnight. Consort Mei is still at the Liang Family with the palace's Imperial Physician."
Qing Yan finished speaking and stood properly outside.
Huxin grunted in response but showed no intention of getting up.
"What did the Imperial Physician say?" Huxin lazily asked.
Qing Yan replied softly, "The news that Mo Chuan found out is that Miss Si Qian's hand is already useless."
"Oh. Then just keep sleeping. Tell Mo Chuan not to go to the Liang Family for news; everyone should rest early." Huxin waved her hand, signaling for Qing Yan to leave, while she wrapped herself in the blanket and continued to sleep soundly.
Qing Yan wanted to say something else, but hearing Huxin's calm and relaxed tone, she had to swallow her words. With a sigh in her heart, she quietly exited the courtyard.
……
The courtyard where Huxin was remained quiet all night, and no one dared to approach it even a step.
In contrast, the Liang Family was in chaos, with elders crying and women wailing, causing a whole night of unrest.
Early the next morning, Qing Yan came to knock on Huxin's door. After knocking three times and being sent away by Huxin, she gave up.
After yesterday's exhausting events, she was determined to sleep until well past noon today.
During the fourth knock at the door, an unpleasant message arrived.
"Miss! Consort Mei and Miss Si Qian's mother have come with people from the Liang Family. Consort Mei also brought palace guards, and it will take the master some time to return. You should find a place to hide for now."
Qing Yan's voice could not conceal her anxiety and concern.
Consort Mei was the Emperor's favored consort and the daughter of the Liang Family. Now that Consort Mei was standing up for the Liang Family, it was clear she intended to suppress Huxin with her status as a royal consort.
Upon hearing Qing Yan's words, Huxin slowly opened her eyes, sitting up from the bed. Her clear gaze was cold, and her expression was frosty.
