One of the attendants suddenly bumped into Qin Yaru, causing her veil to fall off. The attendant was startled and, upon seeing her peach-like face, his face immediately turned red. After a moment, he reached out his hand as if to help her, but then quickly withdrew it as if shocked.
Qin Yaru was at a loss for words. She bent down to pick up her veil and put it back on, smiling as she said, "What’s going on? Is Ji Shenyi here?"
Before he could respond, the door of Jiren Tang crashed open, and a man at least six feet tall and robust appeared, gripping the neck of a man in a light blue robe who looked to be around thirty years old, lifting him high.
The man's face was purple and twisted, barely clinging to life.
Two attendants nearby were in a panic, rushing forward—one wrapped his arms around the robust man's waist while the other desperately pounded on his arm in an attempt to save the man being choked. However, the size difference was too great; with a slight shake of his hand, the robust man sent both attendants flying against the wall, where they struggled to get back up.
With his other hand, he swung a slap across the white-robed man's face, glaring angrily as he shouted, "You useless doctor! If anything happens to my brother, I will skin you alive!"
The pharmacy was in chaos; tables and chairs were flying everywhere. A young attendant, no more than eleven or twelve years old, was crying loudly, which made Qin Yaru's scalp tingle.
"Stop it, Lai San! What are you doing? Let go of Qi Doctor!"
At that moment, two people emerged from the inner room—one was around forty years old and the other an elderly man.
The elderly man wore a crane cloak and a Huayang cap; his hair and beard were completely white, and he trembled as he walked. As soon as he appeared, all the attendants breathed a sigh of relief; clearly, this person was Ji Shenyi from Jiren Tang. He had long since stopped treating patients but had to come out to see what was happening when trouble arose in the shop.
The robust man clearly recognized Elder Ji. His lips moved slightly as he loosened his grip and dropped the man to the ground but then stepped on him with his foot. Standing tall, he angrily said, "Elder Ji, don’t stop me! This bastard has done something terrible; my brother is... is..."
He was evidently heartbroken and couldn't finish his sentence; this big man began to sob uncontrollably.
Qin Yaru carefully stepped over the scattered items on the ground as she entered and immediately spotted someone sitting in a chair. This person had a furrowed brow, was clutching his chest with his left hand, drenched in sweat, and had his eyes tightly shut—he seemed on the verge of losing consciousness.
Elder Ji also realized something was wrong. He approached and trembled as he tried to feel for a pulse. Unfortunately, he could barely stand himself; how could he check accurately? All he could do was let out a long sigh.
The strong man, upon seeing Ji Shenyi's expression, knew that his elder brother was likely beyond saving. His face changed dramatically as he gritted his teeth and kicked the doctor fiercely, cursing, "You bastard! If you can't cure him, I'll take my brother to Hao Family Pharmacy. You just apply some ointment and think that's enough... Yes, yes, Hao Family Pharmacy! I'm so anxious I'm losing my mind!"
Frustrated, the strong man slapped his forehead and rushed over, pushing aside Qin Yaru, who was standing by the chair. He shoved her so hard that she stumbled, but he didn't even glance at her. All his focus was on the patient as he reached out to lift him from the chair.
The people around them saw that Qin Yaru was delicate and felt pity for her, but they could also understand the strong man's agitation, so no one blamed him.
The Qi Doctor lay helplessly on the ground, coughing violently.
Elder Ji shook his head, watching as the strong man picked up the patient with a deep sigh. "Lai San, you don't need to go; Hao Shenyi from Hao Family Pharmacy is right here."
Lai San was taken aback and turned to look around. Spotting the middle-aged man who had been following Elder Ji, he immediately felt a surge of joy and shouted, "Hao Shenyi! Please come quickly and check on my brother!"
In just a few moments of conversation, the patient's breathing had become weak. Hao Shenyi approached to check his pulse and glanced at Elder Ji before shaking his head. "First, let’s try giving him a bowl of Chai Hu soup. However, given how quickly his condition has worsened, it may be too late."
Indeed, before the medicinal soup could even begin to boil, the patient was nearly breathless; his lips and ears were faintly turning purple. The strong man revealed a hint of despair in his eyes and trembled all over. "Brother!"
As he wiped away tears, he noticed a slender woman with delicate features picking up a dosing syringe from the counter. She broke off a section of the long copper tube that served as a spout.
At that moment, everyone's attention was focused on the patient. Although they found her actions strange, no one stopped her to ask for compensation. However, the strong man was caught off guard when he saw that the beautiful woman with an air of elegance had approached his brother and was unbuttoning his purple shirt without hesitation.
He was stunned and exclaimed in surprise, "This lady, what are you doing?"
Before he could finish speaking, he watched in shock as the stunning woman with an aura of scholarly grace thrust the copper tube violently into his brother's body!
The strong man was completely dumbfounded. After a long pause, he suddenly sprang up and rushed over to shout angrily, "You lunatic! My brother is about to die; what more do you want?!"
Qin Yaru took a step back just in time to avoid him and calmly replied, "Don't be anxious; just take a good look."
Her voice was soft and gentle, even the furious strong man paused for a moment, but only for an instant before his anger flared up again. He raised his arm as if to strike, forgetting all about being gentle with a woman.
"Eh? What is this?" Fortunately, Doctor Hao spoke up in time. He walked around the patient, his face filled with curiosity. "This method is wonderful!"
The strong man turned back at the sound, surprised to see that his brother's breath had returned to a stable state and his complexion had improved significantly, though he was still breathing heavily and struggling. He couldn't help but feel delighted and turned to look at Qin Yaru in astonishment, exclaiming, "Wife, what is this? How can an ordinary woman just stab my brother casually and he gets better?"
He was in a dilemma, wondering if he should let this Wife stab his brother a couple more times.
Qin Yaru sighed. "He has severe fluid accumulation in his chest; it's best to drain it quickly." Earlier, she had observed the patient’s lung sounds roaring, with short and labored breaths that came and went intermittently. It was evident he had a traumatic hemothorax that later led to a tension pneumothorax. Although she had performed decompression to relieve pressure, it was merely a temporary measure.
Elder Ji and Doctor Hao were both astonished. Although they didn't understand exactly how she planned to drain it, both were experienced doctors and could make educated guesses.
Elder Ji stroked his beard and frowned. "Drainage? Is it like treating an abscess by drawing out pus? But this person has a blood stasis condition!"
He seemed to have thought of something and appeared contemplative.
The strong man, however, paid no attention to the doctors' thoughts and continued to circle around his brother anxiously, scratching his head. "Two doctors, two divine physicians, is my brother alright? Shouldn't you prescribe some medicine? Why isn't he awake yet? When will he wake up?"
