Jian Yunong remained quiet in the car, silently turning her face to look out the window.
The car drove back to Huo Jincheng's Private Residence.
As soon as the car came to a stop, Jian Yunong was about to push the door open to get out. Huo Jincheng had already anticipated this and locked the central control.
"Let's talk."
Huo Jincheng tried to make his voice sound gentle and calm. "Jian Yunong, what's wrong with you?"
"What's wrong with me? Can't you see?" Jian Yunong forced a bitter smile and scoffed softly. "I have a physiological reaction when I see you. To translate that, it means I want to vomit when I see you."
"Before I lose my temper, it's best if you speak properly." Huo Jincheng's hand rested on the steering wheel, suppressing his growing impatience.
Jian Yunong seemed easy to coax, soft and adorable, very likable. But once she became stubborn, her luscious lips looked as if they were painted with bright red lipstick.
The only person bold enough to talk back to him like this was this little woman in front of him.
"So you just want me to say nice things." Jian Yunong thought this man wanted to hear some truth from her. Trust between a couple is built on emotional foundations.
They were still somewhat okay, right?
"Mr. Huo, you've worked hard. Mr. Huo spent all night socializing yesterday. It's my fault for being unreasonable and causing trouble for you. I'm sorry for carrying the title of Mrs. Huo. Do you want me to give you some money so you can go relax outside? Want to find a few people?" Jian Yunong maintained a faint smile at the corners of her mouth.
"Stop talking sarcastically. Do you believe I'll make you cry in bed later?" Huo Jincheng loosened his tie forcefully, his sharp facial features looking quite fierce, even somewhat menacing.
Huo Jincheng, who usually appeared refined and elegant in front of others, tore away the facade of a wealthy young man, revealing a roughness that was almost frightening.
He knew exactly how to exploit Jian Yunong's weaknesses, understanding that whatever she feared would come to her.
There was no need to go to bed; Jian Yunong was already scared enough to start crying, tears streaming down her face in big drops, plopping down.
Huo Jincheng couldn't stand to see her cry. He pushed the door open, got out of the car, and walked over to the passenger seat. "Why are you crying? I'm not going to hurt you, so stop crying."
Seeing her cry a few more times made Huo Jincheng feel like his little brother couldn't stand up anymore and needed urgent help.
Was it really that terrifying to be with him?
Jian Yunong cried quietly, each tear falling like beads from a broken string.
Huo Jincheng took some tissues from the car and wiped her tears. Soon, more than half of the tissue was soaked. Her tears showed no signs of stopping.
"What do you want me to do? Just say something! I've already apologized for what happened last night, and I promised I would stay with you every night from now on. If you're unhappy about something, just tell me. If you keep crying, I won't know anything!"
Jian Yunong shot him an angry glance.
What nonsense was he talking about? This man was truly frighteningly rough.
He wasted such a refined and elegant appearance on this kind of behavior.
Just then, Huo Jincheng's phone rang; it was a call from the Huo Family Old Residence.
"Well, I'm with her. I won't be going out tonight; I'll be staying with her. Alright, Grandma, why do you forget about your grandson now that you have a granddaughter-in-law? She can give you great-grandchildren, but I need to contribute too. Without my efforts, how can there be any harvest?"
Jian Yunong silently turned her face away, while Huo Jincheng continued to joke about contributions and efforts, pretending not to understand.
"Here, Grandma wants to talk to you. She's been worried about you."
Huo Jincheng handed over the phone.
On the other end, Grandma Huo didn't mention great-grandchildren but reminded her to take care of her health and to take her medicine on time. If Huo Jincheng didn't accompany her, she should call back and complain!
Grandpa Huo shouted from the other side, "I have a one-meter cane ready for him at all times!"
A gentle warmth spread through Jian Yunong. To be honest, the elderly couple from the Huo Family treated her very well. They had no blood relation but cared for her more than those who were related by blood.
After finishing up with Jian Yunong, they insisted she pass the phone back to Huo Jincheng, repeatedly reminding him not to go out tonight and to take good care of Jian Yunong.
Huo Jincheng felt frustrated; how did he become a playboy in his grandmother's eyes?
Huo Jincheng reached out to hug her, but Jian Yunong pushed his hand away and jumped out of the car before heading inside.
Huo Jincheng followed her in slowly. After Jian Yunong entered, she took a deep breath, turned around with her hands on her hips, and ordered him, "You go take a shower first. Now, immediately, right away, go take a shower."
"..." Huo Jincheng raised an eyebrow lazily. "What’s the point of showering? Are you planning to get into bed with me?"
Jian Yunong grabbed a cushion from the sofa and threw it at him fiercely. Huo Jincheng easily caught it in his hands and felt inexplicably pleased seeing his little wife’s angry expression.
She was still angry, finally not wearing a constant frown.
"Huo Jincheng! I'm sick right now! If you want to go out, there are plenty of women waiting for you! Didn't you spend all night with someone else last night? I don't care if you sleep with others, but don't touch me! Disgusting! Filthy!"
Jian Yunong became more and more furious, throwing anything she could grab nearby with force.
"Stop! That was a million-dollar piece of blue and white porcelain that I bought! I was saving it to give to Grandpa for his birthday!" Huo Jincheng raised his voice.
However...
Jian Yunong had already thrown it away.
Crash! Just like that, a million went down the drain.
Jian Yunong froze, standing there in a daze, her small face filled with fear as she quietly asked, "How much did you say that was?"
Huo Jincheng slightly closed his eyes. "One million."
One million? How many servings of Spicy Crawfish would that be? How many plates of fried rice? How many meals of spicy hot pot? It felt like she could never earn that much money in her lifetime.
Jian Yunong slowly crouched down, reaching out to pick up the precious shards, wondering if they could be repaired. She would never earn a million in her life.
"Don't..." Huo Jincheng was about to stop her when Jian Yunong let out a soft cry of pain.
Silly wife.
Huo Jincheng was both angry and helpless. He walked over, picked her up, and placed her on the sofa. "Let me take a look."
Jian Yunong's index finger had been pricked, and her little face was scrunched up in distress.
Huo Jincheng immediately called the doctor.
"No need, it's just a small wound," Jian Yunong thought he was overreacting.
"You may not care, but I do." Huo Jincheng still made the call to notify.
Jian Yunong huffed, "You're just afraid that when something happens to you, no one will donate blood for you!"
Huo Jincheng's expression darkened. "You ungrateful little thing. Your constitution is the same as mine; I certainly know how serious the problem is."
"But the house is such a mess..." This doctor was the private physician of the Huo Family. What would happen if he came over and saw the things she had thrown around? What if the Huo Family Old Residence found out?
"Who dares to say anything about you? Grandpa and Grandma spoil you. Even if they see this mess, they would probably say you did well, that they can't control my temper." Huo Jincheng picked Jian Yunong up horizontally.
She still resisted. "Don't hold me; you haven't showered."
"Okay, okay, I'll shower soon." Huo Jincheng suddenly realized something. "Do you think I’ve been fooling around with someone outside?"
Jian Yunong pressed her lips together. Did she need to think about it? The lipstick marks and perfume scent on his shirt were undeniable evidence!
Huo Jincheng's face turned pale as he put her down on the bed, raised his hand, and took off his clothes, throwing them on the floor. "Why would I need to cheat when I've married you?"
Jian Yunong lowered her eyes and said, "Having a girlfriend doesn't mean you won't have relationships with other women."
"That was an accident!" Huo Jincheng pointed at her with his hand. "What do you want? I've married you, what else do you want?"
"Nothing much." Jian Yunong shrank into the blanket, covering her entire face with it. "I want to sleep. You can go out."
"You don't believe me, do you?"
"It's not about believing or not." Jian Yunong didn't want to dwell on this issue anymore. "You go take a shower, and I'll pretend nothing happened."
In the end, was it that she thought he was dirty?
When had Huo Jincheng ever endured such humiliation? He had always kept himself clean and only stumbled over Jian Yunong. But in the end, he still married her. In this day and age, marrying the first woman as a wife could practically be considered a fairy tale.
Huo Jincheng still went in to take a shower, and by the time he returned, Jian Yunong was already asleep.
The doctor hurriedly arrived and when he saw Jian Yunong's wound, his mouth twitched. He had been so serious on the phone, thinking she must have been seriously injured...
After confirming that Jian Yunong was fine, the doctor prepared to leave. Huo Jincheng called him back.
"She said she wanted to vomit when she saw me... what's going on?"
The doctor adjusted his glasses. "It should be due to a fever causing gastrointestinal discomfort; of course, it could also be because she argued with you and said some harsh words."
He had already experienced the spectacle on the first floor when he entered; wasn't this just what couples say during a trivial argument?
"Not really." The more Huo Jincheng thought about it, the more he felt that Jian Yunong's words were not just said in anger; she indeed had a strong reaction upon seeing him.
"Isn't it because she's pregnant?" Huo Jincheng pressed on.
"No. You can take her for a full check-up any day if you're really worried."
"Okay."
...
Jian Yunong woke up hungry.
The first floor had already been tidied up.
The aroma of food wafted from the kitchen, very enticing.
Could it be that the Part-time Worker had come?
Following the scent, Jian Yunong walked in, only to see Huo Jincheng busy at work.
"What are you doing here? I thought it was the cleaning lady cooking." Jian Yunong pouted.
"Do you prefer the food made by the cleaning lady?" Huo Jincheng tossed the spoon aside. "Then I'll call her over to cook for you again."
Seeing Huo Jincheng pretend to pour out the congee he had made, Jian Yunong immediately rushed over. "Don't!"
Huo Jincheng raised an eyebrow, "Didn’t you just say you wanted to throw up when you saw me? Now you want to eat my cooking? Are you out of your mind?"
"..." So petty!
Huo Jincheng no longer had that smell on him.
Jian Yunong found him much more pleasing to the eye, especially when he was cooking. For the sake of the food, Jian Yunong decided to let go of her principles.
"I think you're very handsome. A man who cooks is even more handsome," Jian Yunong flattered, reaching out to pull him. "If the aunt isn't here, who cleaned up all that stuff?"
"I did."
Huo Jincheng replied lazily.
"You're amazing. I thought it was the aunt who did it."
"Amazing? I'm used to living alone. I only hired an aunt to take care of you because you moved in."
