Jian Yunong felt a stir in her heart upon hearing this.
In fact, Huo Jincheng had many qualities she did not possess.
Just the fact that he could cook made him her ideal type.
Indeed, for a seasoned foodie, the biggest requirement for a partner is the ability to cook.
However, when she thought about some of Huo Jincheng's issues, Jian Yunong's expression darkened. That feeling of dislike was uncontrollable; it was a psychological aversion.
Jian Yunong forced herself to focus on the steaming food.
"How long until we can eat?"
"Soon."
Huo Jincheng pushed aside Jian Yunong, who was almost pressing her entire face against the pot, not caring about getting burned by the steam. This Little Fool clearly only knew how to eat and not how to cook.
"Why can someone like you, a Young Master, cook so well?" Jian Yunong asked shyly as she stepped back a bit. "I don't see you as someone who loves food that much."
"I don't like eating out. When I was studying abroad, I couldn't get used to that kind of food either. I handle everything in my life myself."
Huo Jincheng casually spoke about his past.
There is a saying that children from poor families mature early. But this saying didn't quite apply to Jian Yunong.
Especially when compared to Huo Jincheng.
Jian Yunong cannot cook, is not very good at housework, struggles with her job, and has failed at romance. Thinking about it, Jian Yunong seems to have nothing to show for herself.
"Wipe your mouth," Huo Jincheng reminded her.
Jian Yunong was staring blankly at the pot of steaming soup when she heard him say that and immediately raised her hand to wipe her mouth.
Wait, there was nothing there.
Slow on the uptake, Jian Yunong blushed and looked up, " Huo Jincheng!"
When she was angry, her eyes sparkled and her face turned red.
Huo Jincheng couldn't help but kiss her.
Jian Yunong instinctively stepped back, raising her small fist to hit him. Huo Jincheng took the opportunity to tighten his embrace around her waist, "Don't want to eat? Hmm?"
She did want to eat; she especially wanted to eat the food Huo Jincheng made, which was irresistible. It's not bragging; she could finish all the dishes by herself.
"Huo Jincheng, are you threatening me?" Jian Yunong felt trapped in the corner with no way to escape.
Huo Jincheng lifted her chin, "Is this a threat? This is an exchange. No kiss, no food."
Seeing Jian Yunong's unwilling yet reluctant expression, Huo Jincheng smiled even more, "Unfair? I'm not forcing you. If you don't want to eat, then I won't kiss you."
He sounded so reasonable. As Jian Yunong pondered this, she couldn't help but bite her lip tightly, her delicate white teeth pressing against her rosy full lips.
Huo Jincheng's breath brushed against her face, ticklish like feathers gliding over her skin.
Jian Yunong was clearly on the edge of excitement as Huo Jincheng continued to tempt her, "Let me give you a kiss. You won't have to cook or wash the dishes. Isn't that a good deal? Do you really want to order takeout at this hour?"
Jian Yunong's small hand gently clenched the hem of his shirt, "Then just kiss my cheek..."
Huo Jincheng wasn't going to be polite with her; he first planted a heavy kiss on her soft cheek, and then, when she thought it was over, he kissed her small lips. Jian Yunong was caught off guard, and her tongue felt sore from the kiss.
She raised her hand to hit him, but he suddenly leaned in closer, pressing against an unexpected place.
It made her palm sweat from the heat.
Jian Yunong's face instantly turned as red as a tomato, "You!"
Huo Jincheng was afraid she would cry and didn't dare to go too far; he simply licked his lips with lingering desire, "Sweet."
His peach blossom eyes were incredibly seductive, capable of captivating anyone's soul. Especially his lips, which were often described as the most kissable, glistened with moisture. The marks left by her were there, and thinking about it made Jian Yunong's heart race even faster.
"Daughter-in-law, go wash up and wait for me at the dining table." Huo Jincheng rubbed the top of her head and turned to continue his work.
The cold water brought Jian Yunong back to her senses. The mirror in the restroom reflected her flushed face.
Rogue.
Jian Yunong squeezed out three times the amount of hand soap and washed her hands repeatedly before washing her face again.
When her icy fingers touched her lips, there was a slight sting; Jian Yunong didn't dare to look at herself in the mirror.
Stupid rogue, she cursed inwardly.
In the past, when she was with Yi Nansheng, he never treated her this way. Yi Nansheng was truly considerate, at most kissing her on the forehead and occasionally on her lips. But he would always politely ask her beforehand if it was okay.
Huo Jincheng was just a rogue.
Jian Yunong completely forgot her little displeasure while eating.
Huo Jincheng's cooking was excellent.
Jian Yunong couldn't help but praise him, "It's really delicious. Better than last time."
"How about giving your husband a kiss?" Huo Jincheng leaned in, his charming smile captivating.
Jian Yunong, with her mouth full of food, replied, "What kiss? Focus on eating!"
She refused to give a kiss and concentrated on enjoying the oyster sauce ribs, eating with great dedication.
After finishing the meal, Huo Jincheng tossed the bowl aside and ordered her, "Wash the dishes."
Jian Yunong, with her round belly from overeating, took five seconds to regain her senses. "Didn't you say that if I let you kiss me once, you'd wash the dishes?"
Huo Jincheng looked down at her with a sidelong glance. "What I said was… a million times."
"..." Jian Yunong blinked in confusion; he clearly didn't articulate it that way earlier. "You did that on purpose!"
"Not happy? Well then, don't even think about eating my cooking again." Huo Jincheng poked her cheek, and Jian Yunong immediately wilted like a deflated balloon. "I'll wash! I'll wash!"
Huo Jincheng patted her head. "Don't force yourself."
Jian Yunong gritted her teeth, "No forcing."
Huo Jincheng stood up straight, "If you don't give me a kiss, I won't do any work."
Jian Yunong got up, didn't wipe her mouth, and directly pounced on him, rubbing her face against his, "Are you satisfied now?"
Huo Jincheng pushed her away, looking very disdainful, "It's too late. Just wash the dishes honestly."
Jian Yunong had no choice but to hold her stuffed belly and obediently wash the dishes.
Damn capitalist! Jian Yunong cursed while washing, specifically targeting girls like her who weren't very bright.
Night fell.
It was once again the time Jian Yunong dreaded the most.
Huo Jincheng didn't go out tonight; even by eleven o'clock, she saw no signs of him planning to leave. It was highly likely he wouldn't go out at all.
Jian Yunong thought about whether she should take one.
Just to be safe, she decided to take one.
The medicine was hidden in the drawer of the vanity. Just as Jian Yunong was taking the medicine, Huo Jincheng happened to walk in.
Jian Yunong was startled by his sudden appearance and choked on it, coughing uncomfortably.
Huo Jincheng handed her a glass of water, watching as Jian Yunong anxiously gulped down a big cup, "So fidgety. Jian Yunong, are you three years old?"
Jian Yunong had tears in her eyes, afraid he would discover she was secretly taking some kind of drug. She wrapped her arms around his neck and said, "Carry me to bed."
Huo Jincheng gently patted her back, his expression softening as he carried her back to bed. "If you have a cold, you should go to sleep early. Is there anywhere else that hurts?"
His voice was warm and gentle.
Jian Yunong lay in the warm blankets and couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you going out today?"
Huo Jincheng playfully poked her forehead, but with a light touch. "Little jealous one."
"Who is being jealous?"
"Who was the one causing a scene with me today? Wasn't it you who was overflowing with jealousy?" Huo Jincheng wrapped his fingers around her soft hair. His grandmother had said that when looking for a wife, one should find someone with soft hair so she would listen to her husband.
But Jian Yunong was not obedient at all.
Huo Jincheng watched as the person in his arms gradually became drowsy, thinking she was just sleepy. He wrapped her tightly in the blanket.
"You... you..." Jian Yunong's voice was drifting as the effects of the drug began to take hold. "You..."
"What about me? If you're this tired, hurry up and sleep." Huo Jincheng affectionately kissed her on the nose. "I will stay with you tonight. I'm not going anywhere."
"Are we not doing anything?" Jian Yunong was truly dazed; she would never say such things when she was clear-headed.
Huo Jincheng buried his head in the crook of her neck. Her scent was very enticing, but Huo Jincheng just smiled.
"Do you really think I'm a beast?" Huo Jincheng lightly patted her twice. "You're sick."
Just before going to sleep, Grandma called to remind him to pay attention to Jian Yunong's health.
Jian Yunong felt a bit annoyed and on the verge of tears; if she had known, she wouldn't have taken that throat-choking medicine.
Now, she felt weak all over, with no strength at all.
"You should have said something earlier..." she complained softly with a hint of tears in her voice.
Huo Jincheng propped himself up to look at her. His little wife had a flushed face, her sleepy expression was adorable yet somewhat charming.
"Do you want it?"
"Aren't we supposed to have a baby?" Jian Yunong asked weakly.
Huo Jincheng wasn't interested in having a baby; he was only interested in the process of making one.
She received another poke on her head, and Jian Yunong's dazed eyes widened. "Try poking me again?"
