The morning sunlight refracted through the gaps in the curtains, casting beams of light into the spacious Luxurious Bedroom.
Mu Tongzi opened his eyes, having had a good night's sleep. The person on the bed had not yet woken up, completely wrapped in the blanket, with only their head exposed, hair messy like a bird's nest.
He smiled lightly and got up to walk into the bathroom.
Green Qi opened her eyes, her pupils rolling as she realized she was in an unfamiliar room. Her head throbbed painfully; just as she was about to raise her hand to massage her temples, she felt as if her whole body was falling apart, especially between her legs, which were both painful and numb. She jolted awake, pulling back the blanket covering her chest, only to find herself completely naked, with no part of her body unscathed.
Having seen enough in life, she instantly became alert. All she remembered was being drugged by someone and then resting in a room at the Resort, which was this very room. She had planned to escape, but how did she end up still in the room? And inexplicably lost her innocence?
All her doubts confirmed one thing: this place was not safe for long. She pushed aside the blanket, and as soon as her feet touched the ground, she stumbled and fell. "Beast!" Green Qi cursed under her breath; if she found out who did this, they would not get away with it.
Right now, she needed to leave quickly; she didn't know what other schemes the person might have.
She stood up unsteadily and searched around, finding only some underwear and a set of men's clothes. Just as she was about to put them on, she heard the sound of running water from the bathroom.
He hadn’t left yet! Green Qi hurriedly put on the clothes; the men's shirt covered her hips perfectly. Just as she was about to put on the trousers, the sound of water stopped.
Almost simultaneously, the doorbell rang. There was no way out through the front door. She pulled out the belt from the trousers and secured it around her waist, tying up the bed sheet into a knot. She opened the balcony door and tied the sheet to the balcony railing before jumping down.
Fortunately, she had studied the design of the Resort carefully beforehand and knew that each floor had a passage leading to the swimming pool.
The bathroom door opened; Mu Tongzi clearly heard the commotion on the balcony and felt an inexplicable sense of relief when he saw her safely jump into the passage to escape. The doorbell kept ringing insistently, showing no signs of stopping.
With the continuous ringing of the doorbell and her hurried escape, Mu Tongzi guessed what was happening; this scene would likely be quite dramatic. He put on a bathrobe and reached for the door.
Outside were Lu Manqing and Jiang Chengmu. Seeing Mu Tongzi open the door shocked them; how could President Mu be in this room? Had they mistaken rooms?
"Jiang Shao, what brings you to my room so early?" Mu Tongzi coldly addressed his unexpected guests at the door.
Jiang Chengmu regretted listening to Lu Manqing's suggestion to catch Gu Lvq Qi cheating. He didn’t believe that Gu Lvq Qi would cheat while married; after all, there was an Agreement in place. Her doing so would incur significant losses. However, Lu Manqing claimed to have seen a man enter Gu Lvq Qi's room, but now they found President Mu in this room.
Either they found the wrong room, or that man is President Mu. If it's the former, they have offended the imposing figure in front of them; if it's the latter, then they naturally need to investigate further.
"I heard from the front desk at the Resort that my wife is unwell and booked this room to rest. I came to check on her," he said in a tone that suggested he was a good husband.
The front desk staff at the Resort did not know Mrs. Jiang, so Jiang Chengmu was making up a story. He didn't believe that such a legitimate reason would lead Mu Tongzi to deny him entry unless there was truly something going on.
"Jiang Shao, you might be mistaken; this room is exclusively mine, and my subordinates would never sell it. However, since you have doubts, feel free to take a look inside."
Jiang Chengmu's heart raced. With Mu Tongzi so certain, he had to find someone. He and Lu Manqing entered the suite and carefully searched but found no sign of Mrs. Jiang.
Not finding anyone, they awkwardly exited the room. He and Lu Manqing apologized with smiles, thinking they could let it go, but Mu Tongzi wouldn't let them leave. It seemed he had thoroughly offended him today.
The manager of the Resort received a call from Mu Tongzi and rushed over. This was President Mu's first stay at the Resort, and already he had caused such trouble; the manager's position was likely in jeopardy.
Looking at the submissive manager, Mu Tongzi lazily spoke, "Explain to them why I'm in this room."
"Yes, President!"
The manager turned to Jiang Chengmu and smiled as he spoke: "Jiang Shao, this is an exclusive room reserved for President Mu by the Resort; it has never been sold to outsiders. The person you are looking for would not stay here."
It seemed they really had found the wrong room. Jiang Chengmu had no choice but to lower his face and apologize again: "President Mu, this time it was our oversight; we wasted your valuable time. I hope you can forgive us and not take it to heart."
"Forgiveness is not necessary; considering that you were worried about your wife, I won't hold it against you. Please take care as you leave!"
Mu Tongzi said lightly while swirling his wine glass.
Once outside the door, Jiang Chengmu directed his anger at Lu Manqing. Pointing at her furiously, he exclaimed, "Can you be more mindful? That imposing figure inside is not someone we can casually provoke! You’re driving me crazy!"
Lu Manqing gritted her teeth; she was also furious that they had lost track of that woman. Now they couldn't find any evidence either. She stomped her foot and followed Jiang Chengmu into the elevator.
Secretary Xia Yu heard the news and rushed over. He had been beside Mu Tongzi, but he had drunk too much at last night's banquet and returned to rest early, not expecting such an incident to occur.
He stood in front of Mu Tongzi, lowered his head, and solemnly spoke, "President, this incident is all my fault. I will thoroughly investigate this matter!"
Mu Tongzi remained silent, a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth. He looked at the manager, who was sweating nervously while waiting for his orders, and coldly said, "Go retrieve the surveillance footage from this floor!"
The manager hurriedly accepted the order and left. Mu Tongzi turned to Xia Yu and said, "You go take down the sheets from the balcony!" Xia Yu was a bit confused, but upon reaching the balcony, he quickly understood what was going on.
In less than a moment, the manager returned with an iPad. Mu Tongzi took it and coldly stated, "Delete all the surveillance footage from this floor except for this one in my hand!"
The commanding tone made the manager break into a cold sweat; however, he secretly felt relieved that President did not fire him. He respectfully acknowledged the order and went downstairs to carry it out.
Mu Tongzi examined the surveillance footage in his hand. It appeared that the front desk staff had allowed that woman to check into his room. Was Mrs. Jiang mentioned by Jiang Chengmu really the woman who entered his room?
"Xia Yu, find out who this woman is!"
Xia Yu stood up, took the iPad from Mu Tongzi's hands, and began investigating. The results he found were indeed consistent with Mu Tongzi's suspicions.
He felt that things were getting more interesting.
