After a hard time hailing a cab, Green Qi felt her face flush with embarrassment under the driver's curious gaze. It was early in the morning, and she was disheveled, standing at the entrance of the Resort. Anyone would think the same.
Fortunately, the driver did not refuse to take her. Upon arriving at her father's villa, the disheveled Green Qi called IKEA to pay for the ride. With a surprised look, she rushed into the villa like a whirlwind.
As a former scout, IKEA quickly sensed that something was wrong. After paying for the ride, he hurried inside. Not finding Green Qi in the living room, he went upstairs to her room and happened to see her walking toward the bathroom with a change of clothes.
“Gu Da, what happened? I wasn't here yesterday; what went on?”
Green Qi paused, rubbing her aching forehead. “Don't mention it. Your boss got caught up with some bad people, was drugged, and assaulted by that damn man. I don't know if someone is trying to harm me or if I've become someone else's scapegoat!”
“Ah! How is that possible?” IKEA exclaimed in shock, beginning to ponder.
“Do you think I could be lying about this?” Green Qi said irritably as she ran her fingers through her hair.
“Gu Da, this situation is very suspicious. You just returned to the country not long ago and hardly go out; there's no reason for anyone to hold a grudge against you. Unless someone stands to gain from this, they wouldn't do such a thing! If it was intentional, it's not hard to guess who would benefit the most from it!” In this day and age, who would do something without expecting a return?
“Are you saying it’s Jiang Chengmu?” Green Qi pondered while stroking her chin.
Exactly. Someone who could easily enter a party and had the audacity to drug her definitely had significant suspicion surrounding him.
The thought that it was him ringing the doorbell early in the morning to catch her off guard nearly jeopardized her father's company's interests made her furious, causing her grip on her clothes to tighten.
After thinking for a moment, she spoke in a low voice: “Did Jiang Chengmu look for me last night?”
"No, I took my medicine and went to sleep last night, so I didn't notice you didn't come back all night, Gu Da. It's all my fault." Standing to the side, IKEA lowered her head in shame. Ultimately, this incident was due to her negligence, and she had no face to confront Green Qi.
"This isn't entirely your fault. The enemy is in the dark while we are in the light. There might be a next time, whether intentional or not, it's always better for us to be more vigilant!"
Not wanting to see IKEA blame herself, she could only divert her attention: "Go prepare breakfast! I'm going to take a shower first; I feel all sticky and uncomfortable!"
IKEA's eyes immediately brightened. In her mind, if the boss was still thinking about food, it meant everything was fine.
Feeling happy, she turned to head downstairs when Green Qi called out to her: "Go buy a box of contraceptive pills!" It was her first time, and she wasn't sure if the other party had taken precautions, so she could only resort to self-preservation. In any case, they couldn't let anything serious happen.
"Okay, I'll go right away!" IKEA dashed downstairs, realizing that they couldn't just pretend nothing had happened.
After taking a shower, she felt much more comfortable. Green Qi went downstairs but didn't see IKEA; she probably went out. She poured herself a glass of ice water in the kitchen and drank it down, feeling much more awake. She set the glass down and turned to the sofa in the living room, grabbing a nearby cushion and closing her eyes to think of a strategy.
If it really was Jiang Chengmu's doing, then he definitely wouldn't let it go easily—
