The scenic spots in L City are everywhere, especially the famous mountains, attracting many mountaineering enthusiasts from around the world.
Early in the morning, Su Jimo arrived, and the two went to a local specialty food shop for breakfast. As soon as the steaming shrimp noodles were served, it was hard not to feel a surge of appetite.
The white, chewy noodles were sprinkled with a little scallion, and on top was a layer of translucent shrimp. The fragrance of various ingredients lingered in the air, captivating their senses.
True to their foodie nature, the two quickly devoured the noodles. After renting mountaineering equipment at an outdoor shop at the foot of the mountain, they began their ascent to the summit.
The weather was clear, with no clouds in sight, and a gentle breeze carried the fresh scents of earth and flowers towards them.
There were many tourists climbing the mountain, including various international friends. As they chatted and laughed, they had only reached halfway up when Green Qi was already panting heavily. Meanwhile, Su Jimo remained calm and composed. She teased with a smile, "How did your physical condition get so poor? We're only halfway up, and you're already exhausted!"
Green Qi forced a laugh. She had always exercised regularly; it wasn't that her physical condition had worsened but rather that her body hadn't fully recovered yet—blame that beast from that night!
"You go ahead and wait for me at the top. I'll catch up after I rest a bit!" Green Qi said breathlessly.
"Are you sure you can manage? I think I should wait for you!" Su Jimo looked at her with concern.
"Of course I can! This isn't my first time climbing a mountain." She tried to sound relaxed, though her legs felt unresponsive. Since they were out for fun, it didn't matter if she couldn't reach the summit.
Reluctantly, Su Jimo loved climbing mountains too much to let her friend waste time under the sun halfway up.
"Hurry up and go! There are no wild beasts on this mountain; it's not like you'll get eaten! Besides, I can take some pictures of these flowers and plants while I wait." She lifted her camera hanging around her neck and smiled playfully.
Su Jimo was still not at ease, supporting Green Qi as they climbed a bit further. Green Qi was almost completely exhausted, hanging onto Su Jimo.
"Dear Su, I really can't climb anymore! I'll just wait for you here on this little hillside. Remember to call me when you come down!" Green Qi said weakly.
Su Jimo shot her an annoyed glance. "Go back and exercise quickly! It looks like you don't have any stamina left either. Just rest here and don't wander off! I'll be down soon."
"Yes, ma'am!"
Su Jimo took out a piece of cloth from her bag and spread it on the grass of the hillside. She had originally planned to have a picnic at the top, but unexpectedly, this girl couldn't make it up and had to eat here instead.
"There’s food in the bag. Wait for me to come down so we can have a picnic together. I'm going up now!" She felt comfortable with the surroundings; otherwise, she wouldn't have left Green Qi alone.
Green Qi aimed her camera at an unknown wildflower, capturing the vibrant life through the lens, with the sound of clicking filling the air.
She was completely immersed in the beauty of nature, not noticing that the sky was darkening. Suddenly, a loud clap of thunder startled her awake. She looked up to see that the sky had become overcast with clouds; it seemed it would rain soon.
She hurriedly packed her things and waited for Su Jimo. As the sky grew darker and darker, she began to worry when Su Jimo still hadn’t come down.
Why hasn’t she come down yet? Doesn’t she know to check the weather?
A polite male voice interrupted her thoughts: "Mrs. Jiang, President wants you to come down with us!"
Hearing the voice, Green Qi paused slightly, looking up to see Xia Yu's calm and handsome face. After glancing at the two figures behind him carrying backpacks, it took her a moment to regain her composure. She raised an eyebrow and asked, "Mu Tongzi?"
