The car slowly started, and Green Qi leaned back against the rear seat with her eyes closed. A cool breeze flowed in through the open window, faintly mixed with a hint of summer heat.
She remained silent, and Nie Fengling obediently kept quiet as well. Inside the carriage, the only sound was the occasional distant honking from outside.
Xia Yu glanced up at the rearview mirror and lightly coughed to break the oppressive atmosphere. "President, we have a meeting coming up. Should we head back to the company first or drop Miss Gu off?"
"Let's go back to the company first. We'll drop her off after the meeting," Mu Tongzi replied calmly, decisively making the decision. This only made Gu Lvq Qi more frustrated; not allowing her to go back on her own and insisting on taking her to the company felt completely unreasonable. The car finally stopped at the entrance of Mu Group. Looking up, a high-end office building with an unclear number of floors came into view, with the words "Mu Group" prominently displayed in gold lettering.
It seemed unexpected for the President to bring a woman along; as soon as they entered the company lobby, the front desk staff all turned to look at her, their faces showing surprise.
Green Qi pretended not to notice and followed Mu Tongzi into the President's private elevator. The elevator doors slowly closed, isolating them from the curious gazes outside.
When the elevator reached the top floor, it revealed that the President's Office occupied almost a third of the entire floor. Compared to Old Man Gu's office, it was significantly more spacious and could even be described as luxurious.
Upon entering, she felt a soft touch underfoot; surprisingly, thick white carpets covered the floor even in the middle of summer. Looking up, she saw that the desk in front of her was impressively large, causing her to scoff lightly—this was hardly in line with his low-key personality.
As Mu Tongzi returned, he sat down in a leather chair to review documents for the meeting. In his work mode, he exuded an air of authority. The light streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows behind him illuminated his youthful figure, momentarily leaving her in a daze.
Mu Tongzi continued to focus on his documents. "What are you standing there for? Is there no place to sit?"
"..." Green Qi moved her lips but did not speak.
Receiving the document handed over by Xia Yu, Mu Tongzi turned to glance at her, lowered his head, and casually flipped through the pages, saying nonchalantly, "The lounge is over there. You can go in and rest for a bit. I'll take you back once the meeting is over!"
"No need, I can just sit on the sofa!" Turning around, she glanced at the slightly ajar door of the lounge and thought that they weren't close enough to share a lounge yet, so she walked over to sit on a nearby sofa.
After a while, a deep voice echoed, "I'm going to the meeting. Don't wander off!"
His gentle voice lingered in the cool office, and the air faintly carried his unique Plant Fragrance.
Nodding slightly, she continued flipping through the magazine in her hands. When she turned back, she happened to see his departing figure.
His office had a large bookshelf that displayed almost all books on financial management, along with a significant collection of classic literature. The setting sun cast its glow on the bookshelf that exuded a light fragrance of books. She put down the magazine in her hands, climbed up the ladder to retrieve a book from the shelf, and leaned against the desk to read.
When Mu Tongzi returned, he happened to see Gu Lvq Qi engrossed in a book. He couldn't help but lighten his footsteps.
The glow of the setting sun enveloped her, making her look like an angel who had fallen into the mortal world. Her absorbed expression suggested that it wasn't the book that attracted her; rather, it was she who captivated the book.
