"You've taken some benefit from him again, haven't you, to be so eager to speak for him?" Yan Zili raised an eyebrow at the man across from her, her elegant face showing helplessness. There was a hint of heroism in her brows, different from the typical fragility of women. Her clear and transparent eyes shone with a stubborn light.
While flipping through the menu, she kept her ears perked to listen. The man in the corner immediately stood up upon hearing this and hurriedly sat next to the woman who had been giving him the cold shoulder for a month, his tone filled with an indescribable indulgence: "Zili, I really didn't bribe Green Qi this time. It's been so long; please forgive me!"
"I swear he really didn't bribe me this time. I just saw that you two have been in a cold war for a month. Any anger should have dissipated by now, so I didn't want you both to keep dragging this out. You think it's easy for me as your friend?" Swallow Returns' attitude of admitting fault was so proper that even though it wasn't the first time he had made a mistake, Green Qi still felt it was forgivable.
"I will never forgive him!" Even when her good friend pleaded for him, Yan Zili didn't want to forgive him just like that. "If the root problem isn't solved, I won't forgive him! Swallow Returns, if you don't have the courage to stand by me, then don't come begging for my forgiveness every time like this. I don't want to see you!"
"Zili, I've already talked things over with my parents. I will never let you suffer again; just stop being angry!" In the past, as long as he put in some effort to coax her, she would forgive him. He never expected that this time he had truly hurt her deeply!
"We're done; if you still want to keep calling me brother, then shut up and don't make me sick!" Gritting her teeth, she lowered her head and continued flipping through the menu, bitterness spreading throughout her heart.
It wasn't that she no longer loved him; she wanted to give him another chance. It's just that her prideful nature wouldn't allow her to forgive him so easily. Only she knew how much it hurt to see his face looking even thinner than it had a month ago.
It was always like this; he would set up a way down for her, but she refused to take it directly and always had to go around in circles, leaving both of them exhausted.
Perhaps they were destined enemies, fated to be entangled together without resolution!
Glancing back and forth between the two of them, Gu Lvq Qi sighed lightly and waved for the waiter to come over and take their order.
The meal went on relatively peacefully. Yan Zili completely ignored the man who was scorching with intensity and chatted with Green Qi about her travel experiences and adventures over the past month. Compared to her vibrant stories, Gu Lvq Qi's past month had been dark and dreary.
The reason was simple: in her originally peaceful world, a man like Mu Tongzi had barged in recklessly, turning her life upside down.
Swallow Returns dropped the two of them off at Yan Zili's bachelor apartment. After getting out of the car, Gu Lvq Qi gestured for Swallow Returns to leave first and helped carry the luggage to follow Yan Zili.
Standing in the elevator, Gu Lvq Qi glanced at the dejected woman and smiled helplessly. "What's wrong? Regretting it? I told you to forgive him, but you didn't listen. Young Master Yan is willing to date you despite his status; that alone should be enough for you to forgive him. Besides, he has already paved the way for you. Just go along with it. You know how outstanding he is; if some other woman snatches him away, you'll have plenty to cry about!"
"I know that my adoptive parents want me to be happy, but his parents are so adamantly opposed, and he always backs down, so I don't want to forgive him!"
