"Um." Mu Tongzi nodded, picked up the tea, and took a small sip.
Not wanting to disturb them while they were playing chess, Green Qi got up and returned to the tea table. After making the tea, she had nothing else to do. She took out her phone to pass the time. It had been set to silent before, and when she looked at it now, there were several missed calls. Glancing at the numbers, she realized they were from Yan Da Shao. Just as she was about to send a text message to ask what was going on, another call came in.
Worried about disturbing the two people playing chess in the private room, she opened the door and stepped outside to answer the call.
It turned out that Yan Da Shao was calling to invite her to dinner, saying it was to thank her for her help. He seemed concerned that she might not go, so he specifically chose a high-end club as the venue for this formal invitation, making it hard for her to decline.
After accepting his invitation and hanging up the phone, she turned around and saw several figures coming out of the hallway, with the leading woman being Madam Jiang Mo Rushi, whom she met once a week.
Seeing her, Mo Rushi paused in her steps and spoke briefly with a few wealthy women beside her before walking over to Green Qi.
"Mom, what are you doing here?" She put away her phone and smiled lightly.
"I'm here with a few friends for dinner. What about you?" Mo Rushi looked her up and down and asked coldly, her tone colder than any previous encounters.
Since the internal restructuring of Wind Dust Group that moved Jiang family's personnel around, Madam Jiang had started to become domineering towards her. She had naively thought that at least Madam Jiang would be on her side within the Jiang family. It seemed that when faced with interests, people's true nature would reveal itself.
Meeting her gaze calmly, Green Qi half-smiled and replied, "Our President is treating the mayor to dinner, so... I came along!"
"The mayor? You mean the mayor is also here?" Upon hearing this, Mo Rushi's expression changed slightly, with an imperceptible hint of excitement in her eyes. "Which private room is he in? I need to go greet him!"
"Uh... that might not be good!" They were in the middle of their chess game; it wouldn't be appropriate to disturb them now.
As she hesitated, Mo Rushi had already pulled her over and bluntly said, "What? Can't I, the president of the hotel association, greet the mayor?"
"That's not... well, fine! Over here..." Green Qi slightly frowned and subtly distanced herself from her while leading her towards Listening Rain Pavilion.
She knew that if she refused Madam Jiang, she would surely say something even more unpleasant. She had already experienced Madam Jiang's sharp tongue, and it was likely that under Madam Jiang's influence, others wouldn't be much better. In such a public setting, if she caused the Jiang family to lose face, Madam Jiang would surely make her regret it!
Upon entering the private room, she walked to the chess table, awkwardly and helplessly looking at the two people playing chess. "Um..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Madam Jiang, who was standing behind her, pulled her aside and cheerfully approached, "Mayor Qin, what a coincidence to see you here!"
Interrupted by that sharp voice, Qin Feili looked up from the chessboard, glanced lightly at Mo Rushi in front of him, and after a few seconds of surprise, spoke up: "So it's President Mo."
"Yes, Mayor, you have a great memory!" Mo Rushi smiled and nodded. Turning around casually, she unexpectedly saw the man beside her. The flattering smile on her face instantly froze; it seemed she hadn't anticipated that the person dining with the mayor would be their family's archrival—Mu Tongzi!
