"Think it over carefully."
"I understand!" With her head lowered, she pondered for a moment, feeling frustrated and unable to sort out her thoughts. She shook her head and looked up, "I promise to consider the divorce matter and will let you know once I've made up my mind!"
Setting down the dishes, Mu Tongzi said nothing further, as if it were none of his business.
Once Mu Tongzi went upstairs, she remembered that she had something to discuss with him. Thinking about it, she realized she might have to stay here again tonight, which made her feel quite annoyed!
Carrying a cup of coffee upstairs, the study door was slightly ajar. Just as she was about to knock, she heard faint voices from inside. Her hand froze mid-knock, but in the end, she pushed the door open and walked in.
The man in the office chair was wearing a headset and was engaged in a video conference with a subordinate on the other end. Upon seeing her enter, he nodded slightly, indicating for her to sit aside. After briefly summarizing, he quickly wrapped up the international meeting.
Removing the headset, he picked up the coffee beside him and took a sip. Smelling the rich aroma of coffee, he raised an eyebrow at her still-standing figure and said lightly, "Do you need something?"
"Yes!" She nodded and brought out her other hand from behind her back, revealing a small black whip held tightly in her palm. She timidly placed the whip on the table and said, "I'm here to apologize for what happened this morning..."
Although this tactic might not be very effective, at least it showed sincerity. Even if Mu Tongzi saw through it, he probably wouldn't call her out on it.
"Is that so?" He glanced down at the black whip on the table. Seeing it suddenly reminded him that it was a prop used in s/m play. His deep gaze darkened abruptly. "Where did this come from?"
"I bought it! I said I would come back to apologize; I keep my promises and never go back on my word!"
"Is that so?" Leaning forward, he picked up the whip from the table and toyed with it in his hand, smiling as he raised an eyebrow at her. "What else did you buy at the adult store?"
"I didn't buy much, just this..." She recalled how she had rushed out of the Adult Store earlier today, nearly throwing her money at the cashier as they desperately tried to sell her all sorts of bizarre items.
He waved her over, lazily turning his Seat to face her. "Since you're here to apologize, why don't you tell me what your crime is?"
"..." What is this even about? She just wanted to find an excuse to act pitiful, but why was he taking it so seriously?
"What's wrong? Can't say it? If you can't say it, then why are you apologizing?"
"So does that mean I won't be punished?" Her mind raced, completely misinterpreting his words, which left Mu Tongzi feeling a bit helpless.
"You don't need to be punished. After all, you were just speaking the truth. In your eyes, I'm just a shady businessman, right?"
"That's not what I meant!"
Gripping the whip in her hand, he raised his hand and poked her forehead, speaking casually, "Then tell me what this act of yours is really about. I don't like it when you try to be so indirect with me."
She was simple and straightforward in front of him. Outside, she had to deal with all sorts of masked people. If he didn't want to come home and she tried to manipulate him as well, wouldn't that just be asking for trouble?
"Can you... do me a favor?" Since he was being so easygoing, she decided to be direct.
"Speak."
"My mother-in-law, Jiang Chengmu's mother, wants to invite Mayor Qin to dinner. You have a special relationship with Mayor Qin; could you help me with this?"
