"What's wrong? Where do you feel uncomfortable? Should I call my grandfather's family doctor to take a look at you?" He stared intently at the figure next to Mu Tongzi, dressed in a royal blue gown, elegant and noble, like a quietly blooming rose that captivated everyone's attention.
That originally innocent face, after being polished by time, now bore the calmness and gentleness of a mature woman. The combination of femininity and charm in her was nearly perfect, neither overly seductive nor excessively youthful, blooming in the prime of her life with the most dazzling grace.
Unfortunately, the person who could stand beside her now was no longer him...
The familiar and considerate concern made Green Qi feel a bit dazed. The man's hand tightened around her waist, and she came back to her senses, lightly curling her lips. "I'm fine, just a bit tired. There's no need to trouble yourself; I can just rest when I get back!"
"In that case, I won't keep you any longer. I'll see you out."
Nodding slightly, Mu Tongzi did not refuse and led the person in her arms outside.
It wasn't until they got into the car that she finally let out a slight sigh of relief. The two men following her exuded such a powerful aura that it was almost suffocating, especially the increasingly cold demeanor of Mu Tongzi, which made her scalp tingle.
Tilting her head, she leaned back against the seat, feeling exhausted.
As the car slowly started moving, the man sitting opposite her glanced at her indifferently. His dark eyes flickered with a chilling light as if a storm were approaching. Surprisingly, after retracting his gaze, he did not say anything to her but simply picked up some documents from the side and continued reading.
The dim yellow lights outside the car window swept past her vision as she lay still on the seat, quietly enjoying the last moment of tranquility before the storm.
This time Mu Tongzi was definitely angry, and she was prepared for whatever might come next. As for her relationship with Xue Yiyang, Mu Tongzi probably didn't know much about it; he just hadn't asked, and she felt no need to explain. The past had already become history; even bringing it up would only add to her troubles.
Her current identity was so awkward—she was Jiang Chengmu's nominal wife and Mu Tongzi's secret lover. This tangled relationship had already turned her life into chaos. If Xue Yiyang were involved again, there would be no moment of peace left in her world.
What she needed to do first was to divorce Jiang Chengmu; otherwise, these tangled relationships would eventually trap her in a deadlock from which she could not escape.
From the villa to the hotel, the carriage was silent, with neither of them speaking. The oppressive atmosphere spread between them.
Upon returning to the hotel, Xia Yu happened to come out of her room. Seeing them return, she hurried over, seemingly sensing the low pressure between them. After hesitating for a moment, she turned to Mu Tongzi and said, "President, an email came from the UK. There’s a proposal that needs your discussion..."
"I understand. Tell them to schedule a Video Conference in half an hour and have the materials ready," he replied without looking back as he entered his room.
"Okay!" Xia Yu responded and nodded slightly at Green Qi before returning to her room.
What had started as a clear night suddenly turned into a light rain by midnight. The rain grew heavier until she was finally awakened by the sound of thunder.
Getting up to close the doors and windows, she became fully awake and suddenly remembered the cold war with the President earlier that evening. Glancing at her phone, she saw it was already past two in the morning. The thunder outside mixed with flashes of lightning grew louder and more intense. She had been afraid of thunder since childhood; on stormy nights, she couldn't bear to sleep alone.
