After having lunch, Green Qi returned home early from Jiang Residence and began to organize the design drafts in the study. With her right hand unable to move, she could only laboriously use her left hand to do what her right hand usually did.
She had just learned from a phone call with her father that Mu Tongzi had collaborated on several other projects with him. No wonder he had been so busy lately that he was hardly seen!
Although she was somewhat reluctant to see him, at his age, still navigating the treacherous business world with those people, she couldn't help but feel happy for him when she saw his cheerful demeanor.
Glancing up at the calendar on the desk, she suddenly remembered that today was her best friend Yin Xiyin's birthday. Just as she was slapping her forehead in panic for almost forgetting it, the birthday girl called, "Darling, today is my birthday! Have you prepared my gift?"
"I'm getting it ready! Where are you? I'll come over right away!"
"I'm in Beijing with my boyfriend. He organized a birthday party for me here and is introducing me to some friends. You’ve always wanted to meet my mysterious boyfriend, right? His secretary has already booked a flight for you; just come over!" The person on the other end dropped a bombshell.
"Wow!" She spat out a mouthful of water, looking at the design drafts that got wet. She hurriedly tried to save them. "Beijing? You want me to fly all the way to Beijing to meet your boyfriend? Why don’t you just bring him back for me to see?"
"First, it's to introduce my boyfriend to you, and second, it's for my birthday. This is the first birthday you’ll be spending with me since you returned home. Besides, you don’t have work these days; you can go back tomorrow!"

How could a woman who usually doesn't believe in love fall so easily?

"..." Bringing it back to herself. Green Qi forced a smile. "I just want to protect myself."
"That kind of ostrich mentality makes it easy to miss out on your own happiness. If you meet someone you like, be bold! Getting hurt is better than being lonely for a lifetime."
"Okay, let's talk about this later. Right now, we're discussing your situation; don't drag me into it."
"Alright, let's go grab a drink. My friend is already waiting for us at the café. The party is tonight; we'll go horseback riding afterward."
"You're taking me horseback riding when I'm like this?" Hearing her plan, Green Qi turned to look at her and then at her injured hand, feeling utterly speechless.
"This Riding Arena is huge; just let me have some fun! If you can't join in, you can rest on the side. The birthday girl gets what she wants, understand?"
