"Hey! Have you played 'Guardian Spirit'?"
During recess, A excitedly pulled K aside to ask.
"Oh, are you talking about the one similar to Spirit Writing? I've played that! What's up?"
Among school peers, there are always those interested in supernatural encounters who share various taboo techniques or spirit games. The bolder ones even arrange to try them together, enjoying the thrill regardless of the truth behind the rumors.

"Then think about what questions you want to ask before school ends!" A instructed.
"Hey! You haven't explained how to play yet! Is there a limit on the number of people?" K asked.
"Don't worry, the gameplay is very simple. We can explain it together later. As for the number of participants..." A thought for a moment, uncertain, "There shouldn't be a limit, right? It seems like there are no restrictions on the number of people, but having too many might ruin the atmosphere, so let's just play with the three of us."

"Hey! I heard you guys are going to play a horror game? I'm too scared to play, but I want to watch. Is that okay?" E interjected with clasped hands, pleading, "Please, please! I promise I won't interfere with you at all, okay?"

"I'm serious! I'll just watch from the side and definitely won't make any noise!" E assured repeatedly.
"You better not make a sound..." A muttered under her breath.
"It's fine! Didn't you say there was no limit on the number of people? Just ignore her," K stepped in to mediate. "Anyway, why don't you explain how to play?"
So, A began to explain the process in detail—
First, you need to find an absolutely quiet space and ensure there is no background noise.
Next, recite the summoning spell into the air:
"One indicates affirmation, two indicates negation, oh guardian spirit, may I ask you to answer my question?"
Then, listen carefully for any unusual sounds around; if there are any, it means the guardian spirit has responded.
"...So, that means the questions can only be answered with yes or no?" K nodded, indicating she understood the gist.
"Are there any other questions?" A asked. "If not, let's close the doors and windows."
The four of them then worked together—some closed the doors while others closed the windows. Once they confirmed that all the doors and windows in the classroom were securely shut, they each stood still in their places for a while.
"...I can confirm I didn't hear any other sounds," K said.
"Neither did I," M echoed.
Suddenly, E pulled out a chair and sat down, making a loud noise.
"Hey!" A shouted at her in annoyance.
"Huh? It's not like we’ve started yet!" E replied innocently. "Once we begin, I promise I won't make any noise! I'll be quiet."
"You better!" A huffed impatiently.
"So, are we supposed to shout together?" K asked.
"Well, let's do it together," A said.
"Can't you two just play by yourselves?" M casually sat on the table, looking disinterested. "I don't have any questions anyway; I'll just be like E and keep an eye on things."
A shot her a glare.
"Then K and I will just play by ourselves. You two can get out of here and stop being a nuisance!" If she wasn't interested, why did she agree to join in the first place? Wasn't that just looking for trouble?
"Huh~~ but I want to watch!" E stubbornly clung to her spot, refusing to leave.
"I'm the head of discipline; I have to lock the door," M displayed her key like a get-out-of-jail-free card. "So I'm here to supervise you."
"Then we'll just play with the two of us. You two don't make any noise, okay?" K requested somewhat helplessly.
"Are you sure you can play like that?" A shot a disdainful glance at the two outsiders.
"Anyway, it's just a trial run; don't mind them," K waved her hand dismissively. She just wanted to start as soon as possible and didn't want to waste any more time arguing.
A still huffed in annoyance.
"Fine, let's get started!"
