The werewolves have not disappeared!
In order to survive the rise of humanity, werewolves have been forced to hide themselves. They no longer transform at the sight of a full moon, instead they hide in deep mountains and forests, or completely disguise themselves as humans. Even their habit of feeding on humans and drinking blood on the night of the full moon has been forcibly suppressed, evolving to occur only once a year. Only those who have experienced it know how much suffering the Werewolf Tribe has endured. However, on the night of the "Red Moon" that occurs once every twenty years, the werewolves gather to pay tribute to their ancestor, the "Blood Wolf King," in a ritual known as the "Blood Wolf Ritual." The night of the Red Moon is when the werewolves' bloodthirst surges, and on that night, they must indulge in blood, or they will not return to their human form.
City M Werewolf Tribe's ancestors chose to disguise themselves as humans. Through generations of learning, they have become accustomed to human habits and lifestyles, except for the need to hunt once a year. They blend in so well that it's safe to say they are very well hidden. However, after living peacefully for so long, there are always one or two who become restless.
Thirty years ago, a civil war broke out within the Werewolf Tribe.
The leader at the time was Kui Mu, who, like the previous leader, advocated for maintaining the tribe's livelihood and not provoking humans in order to ensure the safe survival of the werewolves. However, his younger brother, the 20-year-old Xieju, was quite ambitious and unwilling to let the werewolves continue hiding and surviving. He believed it was better to make a bold move rather than live under the shadow of others. Kui Mu naturally would not allow his brother to gamble with the lives of the entire tribe. Unable to persuade him, the two brothers erupted into a fierce conflict.
Kui Mu (with good intentions): "Do you know what you are doing? Werewolves couldn't defeat humans thousands of years ago, let alone now. Are you willing to destroy us all before you are satisfied?"
Young Xieju (arrogant): "You're weak, but I'm not! What are humans anyway? They're just our food in the end! Everything the werewolves have lost over the years, I will take back for myself!"
Xieju was an upstart, rallying a large group within the tribe, aiming to become the new leader. However, he underestimated the power of Kui Mu over the years, and never imagined that his seemingly gentle brother could be so ruthless and decisive. The internal strife lasted for three days and nights, blood flowing for the same duration. Kui Mu emerged victorious, and Xieju lost his life.
After the civil war, Kui Mu first eliminated the remnants of the Xieju within the tribe, and then erased all records about Xieju. Since then, no one in the tribe has mentioned Xieju again. As the older generation passed away, the younger generation of werewolves hardly knew that there had been such a "rebel" as Xieju.
Although Kui Mu won the civil war, he was heavily injured and passed away after struggling for three years. His eight-year-old son, Lai Dai, succeeded the position of leader with the support of trusted aides. In the young heart of Little Wolf King, he wanted to become a hero like his father! However, deep down, Lai Dai longed for the era of the Blood Wolf King. At that time, the werewolf tribe was large and dominant, but now they were hiding everywhere, fearing to reveal any trace due to the prosperity of humans. He yearned to lead the tribe back to its peak, no longer enduring humiliation and living like a dog begging for mercy from humans. However, because of his father, he dared not express these thoughts, and even felt that it was wrong to think this way. Lai Dai grew into a fourteen-year-old teenager in this conflicting state of mind.
At this time, Little Wolf King could no longer contain the restless heart within him. He increasingly felt that his father's strategy of stability was wrong. Perhaps sensing Little Wolf King's restlessness, his elders became stricter in their teachings, which only fueled Lai Dai's rebellious spirit. So, on an ordinary day, Lai Dai sneaked out, intending to hunt alone without the help of his elders. He wanted to prove his strength! However, the cost of this escapade was high; although he succeeded in hunting, he was also shot in the left eye.
This misfortune kept Lai Dai subdued for a long time, until two years later, his mother revealed a secret to him on her deathbed. It turned out that this was the reason he had never been like his father.
Since then, Lai Dai has learned to endure, not only quietly cultivating his own power, but also mastering the seamless transition between his original form and human form, a superpower that intimidated the elders. After taking control of the entire clan at the age of eighteen, his first command was to reinstate the tradition of feasting on human blood and flesh every full moon night. He tore off his gentle facade, systematically eliminating opposing elders, and led the younger generation of the tribe from the remote mountains to City M, where they began a business smuggling illegal firearms. He intended to use the money earned from humans to kill them.
By the time Lai Dai turned thirty, the Werewolf Tribe in City M had expanded several times over, and their string of murders had already attracted the attention of the human authorities, although they had never managed to catch anyone.
One day, a new police officer named Ge was transferred to the station and within three months, he captured five or six criminals. The werewolves were quite fierce, but once caught, they never transformed and immediately committed suicide, so as not to reveal the fact that werewolves still existed in the world. Therefore, even though five or six criminals had been caught, the police only classified the cases as "organized and premeditated armed violence."
With numerous achievements, Officer Ge became the director in just a few years. Lai Dai realized that this Director Ge was not easy to deal with, so they immediately adjusted their plans, switched to dispersing their targets, and operated in small teams to make their hunting activities more discreet. At first, the werewolves did manage to succeed a few times, but soon, the appearance of a mysterious organization wiped the smiles off their faces.
This mysterious organization has carried out targeted assassinations of werewolves. Every time they succeed, they will place a Red beret on the deceased werewolf. This action has awakened a 21-year-old memory in Lai Dai, but could it really be her? Is it for revenge?
