I tightly gripped the Mayan Calendar Fragment in my hand, quickly devising a plan in my mind. We were trapped inside the submarine, facing Zhao Wuji's pursuers, and the situation was dire.
"Jack, we have to break out," I whispered to Jack, a glimmer of determination flashing in my eyes.
Jack nodded, and we swiftly activated the submarine's emergency propulsion system. The submarine shot forward like an arrow toward the weak point in the encirclement.
Zhao Wuji's pursuers did not expect us to counterattack so suddenly; their formation was instantly breached by our assault. We maneuvered the submarine through the rocks and caves at the seabed, evading their attacks.
In a nail-biting escape, we finally shook off our pursuers and reached the depths of a cave. There, we saw a fragment emitting a ghostly blue glow, encased in a massive crystal—it was the Ocean Wave Fragment of Atlantis.
Just as we were about to retrieve the fragment, the cave suddenly trembled, and a powerful current surged from deep within. We were struck by the torrent, and the submarine began to lose control.
"Li Jin, look!" Jack pointed toward the depths of the cave where a massive crack was allowing water to flow out.
A thought struck me; if we let the current continue unchecked, the secret of the Ocean Wave Fragment would be lost forever beneath the sea.
"Jack, let's drive the submarine into that crack and see if we can stabilize the fragment!" I shouted.
Jack nodded, and we steered the submarine toward the fissure. The current grew stronger, but with our coordinated efforts and the submarine's capabilities, we finally found a relatively stable spot within the crack.
We cautiously approached the Ocean Wave Fragment. I extended my hand, ready to take it. However, at that moment, Zhao Wuji reappeared, risking his life to follow us in.
"Li Jin, do you think you can escape from my grasp?" Zhao Wuji's voice was filled with madness.
I stared at him intently, a strong resolve swelling within me. "Zhao Wuji, you will stop at nothing for that fragment, but you will never understand that true power is meant to protect, not destroy!"
Zhao Wuji sneered and activated a device in his hand; a powerful force surged toward us. Jack and I struggled to stabilize the submarine against the onslaught of energy, but it made it difficult for us to approach the fragment.
In that critical moment, I made a decision. I unleashed the power of the Mayan Calendar Fragment; a beam of light shot from my hand and collided with Zhao Wuji's force.
"Jack, grab the fragment!" I shouted loudly.
Jack acted quickly; amidst the chaos, he seized hold of the Ocean Wave Fragment. However, Zhao Wuji's attack was too fierce; the cave began to collapse as an explosion erupted from the fragment's power at the seabed.
We were thrown back by the force of the explosion as our submarine was propelled out of the cave. In the turmoil, we steadied ourselves and rapidly ascended toward the surface. When we broke through into daylight and sunlight poured over us, I felt an unprecedented exhaustion and relief wash over me.
We hadn't secured the Ocean Wave Fragment, but neither had Zhao Wuji succeeded. Back on our ship, gazing at the tumultuous sea before us filled me with mixed emotions.
"Li Jin, did we fail?" Jack looked at me with a hint of confusion in his eyes.
I took a deep breath and looked at my Navigator; its last glimmer had faded away. "No, Jack, we did not fail. We stopped Zhao Wuji and protected the continuity of time."
