I cleaned the stone slab and wanted to study the symbols on it carefully. 0

But just then, the construction site suddenly became noisy. 0

I looked up and saw Old Zhao striding towards me with several workers, looking aggressive. 0

" Xiao Zhang, I heard you found a stone slab?" 0

Old Zhao's tone sounded somewhat unfriendly. 0

"Yeah, what's wrong?" 0

I was a bit puzzled; Old Zhao's reaction seemed a bit too intense. 0

"Destroy it!" 0

With a wave of his hand, several workers rushed forward, trying to snatch the slab from my hands. 0

"Wait!" 0

I quickly protected the slab and confronted Old Zhao and his crew. 0

"Old Zhao, what do you mean by this?" 0

Old Zhao stared at me coldly, a hint of malice flashing in his eyes. 0

"Mind your own business; this is not good for you." 0

I felt anger; these people clearly knew something but were continuously obstructing my investigation into the truth. 0

Just as we were at a standstill, a sudden scream of terror erupted from the construction site. 0

"Ghost! There's a ghost!" 0

I turned around to see a worker running towards us from the corner of the site, his face filled with fear. 0

"What happened?" 0

Old Zhao shouted sternly. 0

The worker knelt on the ground, pointing at a dark shadow in the corner and said, "There... there is a ghost..." 0

I looked in the direction he was pointing and saw that shadow slowly writhing, as if it had a life of its own. 0

A chill rose from my feet and shot straight to the top of my head. 0

The power of the Vengeful Spirit was finally beginning to manifest! 0

The next day, I went to the city library to research the history of the construction site, hoping to find some clues. 0

Heaven rewards those who are diligent; I finally discovered a yellowed blueprint among a pile of old documents, which marked the location of an ancient tomb, seemingly right beneath the construction site! 0

This discovery excited me, but it also caught the attention of Old Zhao. 0

Just as I was about to study the drawing in detail, Old Zhao suddenly appeared in front of me. 0

" Xiao Zhang, let's talk." 0

Old Zhao's expression was not good, and there was a hint of urgency in his tone. 0

"What do you want to talk about?" 0

I pretended to be unaware, but inside I was guessing his intentions. 0

"Stop pretending. I know you found that drawing." 0

Old Zhao sighed, and his tone became heavy. 0

"So what?" 0

I stared unyieldingly into Old Zhao's eyes, trying to discern something from his expression. 0

Old Zhao was silent for a moment before slowly saying, " Xiao Zhang, do you know what would happen if what’s beneath the construction site were to be released?" 0

I shook my head, but I had a vague sense of foreboding in my heart. 0

"The things in there could destroy the entire construction site, even the whole city!" 0

Old Zhao's voice trembled, clearly not joking. 0

"How do you know?" 0

I looked at Old Zhao warily, sensing that he seemed to be hiding something. 0

Old Zhao took a deep breath and slowly began, "Actually, I was one of the earliest workers on this construction site. I know the history of the site and the legend of that ancient tomb." 0

"Then why have you been stopping me from investigating?" 0

There was a hint of anger in my tone, feeling as if Old Zhao was treating me like a fool. 0

"Because I don't want this place to turn into a wasteland!" 0

Old Zhao said excitedly, "Think about it. If the site is destroyed, what will happen to those workers? Most of them are from out of town; they have no home or family here and can only rely on this construction site for their livelihood! If this place is ruined, what will they do?" 0
