The young man showed a hint of happiness on his face. 0
"Great! Thank you all. My name is Xiao Jie, and I hope you will take care of me from now on." 0
We continued walking, but after just a few steps, the ground began to shake, and stones from the walls started to tumble down. 0
We immediately realized that a trap had been triggered. 0
I shouted, "Run!" and then led the way forward. 0
We sprinted down the ancient stone path, followed by a large number of collapsing buildings behind us, the sound booming like thunder, causing our ears to ring. 0
A glimmer of fear flashed in Xiao Jie's eyes as he hurried to catch up with us, his heart racing. 0
"Look! Up ahead is an open area; we can hide there!" I yelled, pointing to a spot not far away. 0
Xiao Jie nodded, but his face was still filled with worry. 0
Just as we were about to reach that open space, suddenly a massive stone door emerged from the ground, blocking our path. 0
Xiao Jie's voice carried a hint of despair: "What do we do now? There's no way forward!" 0
Old Li rolled his eyes and said, "We need to find a way to deactivate those traps; otherwise, we'll all be buried here." 0
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. 0
"If we look around, we should be able to find something to disable these traps," I said. 0
So we began searching everywhere for any mechanisms or clues. 0
Every second felt like a race against time. 0
Old Li suddenly pointed at an inconspicuous stone carving next to the door and asked, "Doesn't that thing look like a keyhole for activating a mechanism?" 0
Xiao Jie and I rushed over to take a closer look. 0
Although it looked similar to other decorations, upon closer inspection, it indeed resembled a keyhole quite well. 0
I rummaged through my backpack and pulled out the ancient key mentioned in my diary. 0
"I think we can give this a try," I suggested. 0
Old Li glanced at me and then at Xiao Jie before nodding in agreement; Xiao Jie also expressed his consent. 0
"Well, we have no other choice; let's give it a shot," I said. 0

With a mix of tension and anticipation, I inserted the key into the lock and turned it with force. As the key turned, the vibrations in the ground gradually ceased, and the collapsed building slowly returned to calm. The three of us exchanged glances and couldn't help but laugh. However, that laughter was quickly suppressed by an eerie silence. I suddenly felt a chill creeping up my back. I sensed an ancient and powerful force approaching us. 0

Xiao Jie seemed to feel something too; he quietly asked me, "Do you guys sense anything strange?" Old Li gazed down the street with a deep look in his eyes. "It seems we've attracted some unwanted attention," he said. Then several shadows emerged from around the corner. They were the guards of the City of Forgotten, clad in ancient armor, their eyes gleaming with magical light. 0

One of the guards spoke in a voice that boomed like thunder, "Intruders! You should not be here." The three of us stood back to back, forming a small defensive circle. Old Li whispered to us, "These guys look pretty formidable; we can't let our guard down." Xiao Jie nodded, his expression turning serious. "We can only fight with all our might if we want to survive," I said, swallowing hard as I gripped my weapon tightly. "Then let's fight with everything we've got; we can't die here," Xiao Jie agreed. 0
