Fu Tianming was waiting for her to come out again so he could tell her about his plans regarding her. However, Zhang Yu was already nearly asleep at the table, and she still hadn't appeared. Fu Tianming knew the girl's stubbornness and independence, but his concern drove him into the kitchen at the back. Through the steam, he saw the lonely figure washing dishes. Without a word, he pulled her out and started walking away. A few people rushed over. Despite being glared at by Fu Tianming, whose face was pale with worry, several people still approached.
"He is my uncle." Upon hearing this, everyone dispersed.
Just a moment ago, Liu Qianqian had silently vowed to herself, "One day, I will make you respect me!"
Once outside, Fu Tianming still wouldn't let go until he had sent Zhang Yu off in a taxi. After that, they got into his car. Liu Qianqian remained silent; she didn't know what to say or what he was thinking. She lowered her head and allowed him to hold her hand. His hand was large and warm. Since she hadn't left work yet, it seemed she would have to explain things to her boss tomorrow. However, sitting in this luxurious car while wearing her work uniform made her feel uncomfortable.
Fu Tianming couldn't understand why he was so angry. Was it because he felt sorry for her or because he blamed himself for not taking better care of her? He couldn't tell. The car drove aimlessly forward without any intention of stopping.
"I want to go home; please let me out!" Liu Qianqian finally spoke up. Fu Tianming glanced at her and sighed inwardly; he couldn't be harsh with her, so his tone softened again.
"I think you're too young to be working; you should go back to school!"
"Oh!" Liu Qianqian replied with her head down. In fact, she was preparing to return to school because the money left by her grandmother was enough for her to study well.
"I've already contacted a private high school for you; I hope you'll go soon. I'll take care of everything."
"Oh!" Another monosyllabic response made Fu Tianming glance at her again; she kept her head down.
"What's wrong? Is it okay if you go tomorrow?"
"Oh!"
"Qianqian?"
"Okay." Seeing her so obedient made Fu Tianming unable to help but smile. The girl with her head down had a flushed face that was truly endearing.
"Where do you live?"
"In the neighborhood with the small pavilion."
On the way, Fu Tianming bought her something to eat, guessing that she hadn't had dinner. She didn't want him to see her embarrassment, and he didn't press the issue. He dropped her off at the entrance and didn't linger; he needed to go back and arrange everything for her. He felt genuinely happy that she was willing to accept his suggestions.
The next morning, he came to pick her up. He saw the small room of less than twenty square meters—clean and tidy—with the little figure standing at the door. She wore faded light blue jeans, a white shirt, pink sneakers, and had short hair that reached her ears. A small old suitcase lay at her feet; she still looked just like when he first met her—pure, quiet, and aloof—except back then she had been lying cold in front of Lina's door. Fu Tianming picked up the little suitcase.
"Is this all?"
"Mm!"
Once in the car, Liu Qianqian remained silent.
"You seem unhappy?"
Silence filled the air.
"Don't you like going to school?"
Silence.
"Is something bothering you?"
"Will Uncle come to see Qianqian...?" Liu Qianqian finally voiced what she most wanted to know.
"You've been thinking about this?" She nodded.
"Silly girl, of course." He couldn't help but gently ruffle her hair.
"It's a promise!" She noticeably raised her voice!
"Okay." The atmosphere suddenly became lively. Seeing a smile appear on her face made Fu Tianming exceptionally happy.
