Zhao Ming tightly grasped my hand and said, "Lin Xiaoyue, we need to find the shadow's weakness, or we'll both be done for here."
"Right," I quickly replied.
We huddled closely together, our eyes wide open, constantly alert to our surroundings.
The shadow always avoided the light.
Zhao Ming took out his phone and shone the flashlight towards the shadow.
The shadow let out a scream and hurriedly retreated.
Afraid of the light?
I was stunned for a moment, then quickly realized that a shadow couldn't possibly be afraid of light.
Zhao Ming also sensed something was off and muttered, "How could a shadow be afraid of darkness?"
"How would I know?"
"Forget about that for now; let's see if we can find its weakness."
"Okay."
We began rummaging through the temple, leaving no corner or stone tablet unchecked.
We were hoping to find its weakness.
Suddenly, an invisible force struck us from behind.
Zhao Ming and I were knocked to the ground by this force.
The shadow's power erupted instantly, like a black tornado that turned the entire temple upside down.
Zhao Ming and I were thrown into the air and crashed hard against the wall.
"Zhao Ming!"
I looked at him in terror.
The shadow silently formed a massive black sphere in front of us, with a soft glow flickering at its center, as if it concealed some mysterious energy.
Seeing this scene, my voice carried a hint of surprise.
"Zhao Ming, look over there."
Hearing my words, Zhao Ming immediately looked in the direction I was pointing, a look of surprise on his face.
"We should be careful."
We cautiously approached the sphere, and just then, a strong light suddenly erupted from its center, a powerful force knocking us to the ground, nearly causing us to fall.
I quickly steadied myself and looked up at the light.
It turned out that the light was emanating from the center of the sphere, where there was a glowing stone.
I slowly walked closer, extending my hands to gently touch the glowing stone.
The moment my hand made contact with the stone, the light instantly became even more dazzling.
I felt an unprecedented sense of tranquility and peace.
"Lin Xiaoyue, your hand..." Zhao Ming suddenly shouted loudly.
I looked down and found that the light on my hand was reflecting off the glowing stone.
"What on earth is happening?" I murmured softly.
The light gradually faded, and shadows began to rush toward me again.
I instinctively dodged.
The shadow failed to attack me and instead moved toward the interior of the temple.
"Quick, chase it!" Zhao Ming shouted loudly.
We followed closely behind, weaving through the ancient temple.
The shadow stopped in front of a wall and then vanished without a trace.
I carefully examined the wall and noticed it was inscribed with some text.
"What is this?" Zhao Ming asked curiously.
I shook my head and reached out to touch the text.
"I'm not sure either."
"But maybe this is the key to controlling the shadows."
"Please step aside a little, let me give it a try."
I took a deep breath, trying hard to suppress the fear and unease within me, focusing all my thoughts.
I attempted to recall the scene when I made the contract with the shadow, but my mind was blank.
I closed my eyes and silently murmured, "Shadow, come back."
Suddenly, a voice echoed in my mind.
"Are you really planning to abandon me?"
