The bookshelf was filled with various ancient texts and scrolls, each emitting a faint glow. We searched through the library, every book carrying an air of mystery.
"Look at this," Tsu Yan's voice interrupted our thoughts. We gathered around to see a unique bookshelf placed in the corner of the room. On it lay an ancient book, its cover engraved with a radiant symbol.
"It's 'Soul Light!'" we exclaimed excitedly.
"Although it's just a fragment, it's exactly what we need," Ouyang Xue's voice trembled slightly.
"We've obtained the 'Soul Light' fragment; what do we do next?" Moyuan looked at me.
"The ancient texts say that 'Soul Light' is a powerful force, but the cost of using it is also immense," I pondered.
"If we harness its power, we might lose ourselves, or worse," a flicker of fear crossed Ouyang Xue's eyes.
"I understand your concerns, but we have no choice," Moyuan's voice was calm and resolute. "The threat from the Underworld is real; if we don't take action, the entire academy—and even the world—will fall under his control."
"Yes, we can't just sit back and wait," Tsu Yan said firmly, looking at us.
"We need to take this risk." I took a deep breath, trying to calm the unease within me.
"Alright, let's not waste any time. We must unite and face this challenge together."
After finding the first piece of 'Soul Light', we continued along the secret passage in search of other fragments. The winding tunnel seemed endless, but whenever we felt uncertain, a segment of runes would appear on the walls to guide us.
"Look, there's a cave ahead," Tsu Yan pointed out.
We entered the cave, and in the center floated a glowing object surrounded by an indescribable energy.
"It's the 'Soul Light' fragment!" we exclaimed excitedly.
Just as we were about to approach the fragment, a deep voice echoed through the cave.
"Do you think I will let you take the fragment so easily?"
We looked up to see a massive figure slowly rising from the shadows.
"It's the Guardian!" we gasped.
The Guardian held an ancient sword and silently watched us.
"You should not disturb the slumberers here," he said, his voice tinged with anger.
"You must leave."
"We will not leave," Moyuan replied firmly.
"We need the 'Soul Light' fragment to fight against the Underworld."
"Then you shall have to step over my dead body."
The Guardian swung his sword at us, launching an attack. Moyuan, Tsu Yan, and Ouyang Xue quickly scattered, preparing for battle.
I took the opportunity to rush towards the fragments, reaching out for the glowing object.
The moment I touched the fragments, a warm power flowed through my entire body.
"No!"
The Guardian sensed the power of the fragments and let out a furious roar.
But it was too late.
The power of the fragments began to spread throughout the cave, gradually calming the Guardian's anger.
He slowly sat back down, as if listening to a call from ancient times.
The four of us stood in the cave, panting heavily but filled with a sense of accomplishment.
"We did it... we found the first fragment," I said softly.
"But this is just the beginning; there are three more fragments waiting for us," Moyuan reminded us with a nod.
"Yes, we cannot let our guard down," Ouyang Xue said as she flipped through the ancient texts.
"According to the records, the next fragment might be located deep within the library."
