Lu Nancheng was very happy that day, drank a lot, and said many things while holding me.
I remembered many of the words, but only the simplest two stuck with me.
“Yuyu, we will never have those six years.”
“Yuyu, we will never break up.”
I believe that everyone is sincere when they make a vow.
Even if someone later breaks their promise, I still want to believe that they were genuine in that moment.
I deserve to be loved, and there should be at least one time when sincerity is not betrayed.
On the day I got engaged to Lu Nancheng, I received a gift sent from Yuencheng.
It was the wedding dress I had once bought.
After being restored by a master, it was now perfectly intact before me.
The card bore the handwriting of Jiang Shiyan.
“Yuyu, I will always wait for you.”
Lu Nancheng leaned over and saw the card too.
I raised an eyebrow at him: “What’s wrong? Are you feeling insecure?”
Lu Nancheng kissed my face and smiled, “Too bad, I won’t give him the chance.”
That night, the wedding dress mysteriously disappeared.
I no longer cared about such things.
It was just a wedding dress; if it was gone, then so be it.
I wasn’t in a hurry at all.
But Lu Nancheng was extremely anxious.
He rummaged through everything, nearly turning our bedroom upside down.
I leaned against the door and laughed at him: “If you can’t find it, then forget it. I have plenty of clothes to wear.”
Lu Nancheng turned to look at me, his brow furrowed tightly. "Yuyu, aren't you nervous at all?"
"It's just a piece of clothing, why should I be nervous?"
Lu Nancheng pouted. "But it's from him."
I sighed. "But I didn't ask him to send it."
Lu Nancheng looked at me with a resentful gaze. "Didn't you say you wanted to give him a chance?"
I couldn't help but laugh.
When did I not notice how jealous Lu Nancheng could be?
I walked over and pinched his cheek. "I said you should give him a chance, not that I would."
Lu Nancheng blinked. "Really?"
I nodded.
Lu Nancheng hugged me and kissed my cheek. "I knew Yuyu would treat me the best!"
Looking at his bright eyes, I couldn't help but smile back.
---
Our daughter, Lu Yuyu, was born.
Jiang Shiyan sent many expensive gifts.
Holding those gifts, I asked Lu Nancheng, "What should we do?"
Lu Nancheng pulled me into his arms, his tone confident yet not magnanimous.
"He's definitely trying to annoy me on purpose. Don't pay him any mind; our son doesn't lack these things. We can just donate them."
After a pause, he snorted coldly. "He's already married; why is he still fixated on someone else's wife and child?"
I couldn't help but laugh. "Lu Nancheng, why do I feel like you're being so petty?"
He looked down at me. "Petty? If he has ill intentions toward my wife and child, should I generously invite him over for a visit?"
"Yuyu, tell me honestly, are you still thinking about him?"
Looking at Lu Nancheng's serious jealousy, I felt a bit sorry for him.
I reached out my arm to wrap around his neck and kissed him on the lips, "What are you talking about?"
"I haven't had anything to do with him for a long time."
"Then why do you still call me by my full name?" Lu Nancheng looked at me discontentedly.
I chuckled, "What should I call you then?"
Lu Nancheng replied, "Call me husband."
I laughed and called out, "Husband."
Only then did Lu Nancheng feel satisfied.
When our daughter turned one month old, the three of us returned to Yuencheng to visit family, staying for several months.
Old friends had long been urging us to come back.
As soon as we returned, everyone couldn't wait to hold several gatherings.
Jiang Shiyan never attended these gatherings.
But he still learned about my news from others.
